“Abbie was the best. We absolutely would book with her again. She took great care of our dog and our home. She was very communicative about what was going on and gave thorough updates. It’s easy to tell how much she cares for animals. Your pet will be well taken care of with Abbie.”

About: Hi!👋🏼 I'm Jenna! Animal lover who has been surrounded by pets for as long as I can remember. Rescue animals will always have a special place in my heart, but at the end of the day, I truly love all animals and treat every pet like family! When I moved away to college, I was alone for only 2 months, and realized I couldn't imagine life without a furry companion and that’s where Carrot came into my life and made me a FurMom! During college, I also fostered dogs and cats, helping them prepare for their forever homes. My older sister previously worked at both an Animal Hospital and PetSmart, and she's taught me so much about pet care, behavior, and recognizing when something isn't quite right. I know every pet is unique, and I'll care for yours with the same love, patience, and attention I give Carrot. Whether it's walks, playtime, cuddles, or sticking to their routine, I'll make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you're away. 💛 I have a flexible schedule that allows me to provide dependable care throughout the week. I understand that every pet has their own routine and unique needs, and I take the time to learn what makes them feel comfortable and happy. I also know how important peace of mind is for pet parents, so I prioritize clear communication, reliability, and treating every pet with the same love and care I give my own. ** IMPORTANT * I will ask for your document verification of ALL UP TO DATE VACCINES and they MUST be on a flea, tick, and heart-worm preventive ** Whether I'm caring for your pet in my home or yours, my priority is making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I follow their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medication (if needed). I also respect your home and your pet's unique preferences, and I'll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can relax knowing they're in good hands. My goal is to make your time away as stress-free as possible for both you and your pet.

About: I’ve taken care of neighbors, friends and families dogs since I can remember. From single old pups to a house of 10 dogs and cats I’m currently off and free every Monday-Thursday after 2-3pm. Sometimes even as early as 10am. I’m open all afternoon and well into the next morning till 6am. I can only offer to take care of pets at your property, they’d rather be home anyways right? I find that animals prefer a new person in their own nest rather than in a strange new environment.

About: Being a mom to two cavachons for over ten years has made my heart warm to animals of all kinds. Prior to being a dog mom, I always looked after neighborhood pets on the weekends. I have a pretty flexible schedule and am free most mornings and evenings. I enjoy walking with dogs the most because that is the most peaceful time of the day with your pet. Dogs and cats are the best part of one's life as they are ultimately your child and man's best friend in a different form so I will do my best to take care of your child to the best of my ability! I am currently very flexible with hours and can work around your schedule at your convenience. I do not expect this to change anytime soon. My usual routine follows with making sure pets are feed and waters are replenished. If dogs, a walk is implemented if requested or let out in the backyard. Cats will get their litter box refreshed by cleaning out any pee or poop. Play time is a necessity!
“JaNasia is incredibly kind, patient, and responsible. She was able to handle our small zoo without issue and was always responsive and easy to reach. Will definitely be reaching out to book with her again!”

About: I walk dogs for my local animal shelters frequently and i have raised and trained all of my dogs (i had 4) form when they where puppies so adults. I am a college student in my senior year, so my schedule is fairly flexible. However, my best availability is on the weekends and fridays. I have so much respect and love for animals, and I understand that they are family and someone’s babies. I’m happy to follow your pet’s routine and do whatever they need to feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for.
About: We originally became Rover sitters when our best girl went over the rainbow bridge❤️ Since then, we have fallen in love with so many of your pets!! Boarding Dogs is so rewarding and we are so lucky to have amazing clients. In our home, pets are the kids and plants are the pets 🤣 So you can be confident that your pup will be treated like family, have free use of the furniture and when necessary be allowed to sleep in our bed lol. We unexpectedly adopted a dog (Tessie) in March and took a couple of months off Rover to socialize her and make her comfortable in our home. Great news, she is wonderful with other dogs and we are ready to open our doors again! We require meet and greets with the dogs to make sure everyone gets along. For certain short term stays (1-4 nights), we can arrange to take Tessie out of the house for a sleepover with friends, just ask. Thank you! -The Torres Family MaryKathryn is home all day from Wednesday to Sunday. Sebastian works 8:30am-5pm Mon-Fri With our schedule we take the dogs on walks twice a day, around 7am and 6pm. We feed Tessie twice a day at 7am and 7pm, but can accommodate any normal feeding schedules. MaryKathryn was a professional nanny for 16 years, and now is a children's Psychotherapist. Proper care is her career and calling. We had our dog Nova for an amazing 12 years and have all of the experience in pet care from medications to emergencies. We have a fenced in courtyard where pups can enjoy the sun, and down the street we have a dog park that is always empty. We have no children, so all attention goes to the pups!
“Hannah has been wonderful with our two dogs, one of which was recently ill and recovering from surgery. It’s been great having someone we can trust with them while we’re away! She always sends lots of pictures and communicates well :)”

“Steven was great with our very playful golden retriever. He sent lots of photos while we were away which we really appreciated and took great care of our home. We could tell that Jesse was very comfortable with him and was getting the love and attention she deserves! We will absolutely book Steven again and recommend him to anyone looking for a great sitter in the area!”

About: 🐝 I’m a Fear Free certified veterinary assistant in VB. I have a 13 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Bailey and a very energetic 6 year old Chocolate Lab named Hatteras. I’ve taken care of dogs (and cats!) of all ages and sizes for years. I worked at a dog daycare for 3 years prior to entering the vet field. Neighbors, friends and family rely on me if they need someone to take care of their pets. I have reliable transportation and do whatever I can to meet my client and their pets needs! 🌻 I’m a part time college student and full time time assistant. Other than that, my availability is pretty flexible. Please let me know your expectations. 💛 I treat every pet as if they are my own! One of my favorite things to do while pet sitting is taking pictures - portrait or action shots. I stay in close touch with owners while they are away.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Bay Island
This was my first time using a dog sitter service for my dog. Ms. Karen made this experience so simple and stress free. She was constantly sending updates with videos and pictures. Not only would I recommend Rover, but Ms. Karen overall. Definitely I will be rescheduling her on my next trips.

Kelly is always my first call when I need someone to watch my dog. She’s so kind with my pup, especially as she ages and needs some extra help with medication. Kelly takes such care of the house too. I never have to worry about anything. Would always recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bay Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bay Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bay Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bay Island. On Rover:

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
