About: Mike's first job was caring for his neighbors' pets. Mike has had pets since he was 10, and travelled around the world with his dogs and cats during his military career and regional sales role. Roscoe, Higgins, and Freyja are living the dream in the Pacific Northwest with frequent road (work) trips and cross-country visits to the family in Indiana and Massachusetts. Let me know if we can help you with your fur babies. Mike works from home and is an early riser. While the coffee is brewing, all the animals are waking up with bathroom breaks and breakfast. Mike walks Roscoe after breakfast and dinner. Since Roscoe is a senior, we frequently split the two meals into snacks and shorter walks. When the cats are interested, they climb into the backpacks and go see the world with us. I pay attention to the animals' behavior and routines. Consistency in feeding and bathroom breaks has made my pets very comfortable with my work and social routines. I have the flexibility to meet your routines and maintain the consistency you expect with your family while away from home. I recognize when it's time to stop playing, reduce the mileage, or go to the vet.
“Jennifer was absolutely wonderful! My dogs loved her, the house was just the way I left it, and she even brought my mail in for me. I will definitely be biking with her again 🥰”

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and have been sitting since I was a kid. I love animals but I especially love dogs - your fur baby and I will be best friends while you are away. I love going on walks and playing fetch, and generally just doing what I can to make sure your dog is well cared for. I have experience giving dogs medications, baths, etc. I have experience with 8 week old puppies as well as elderly dogs. I’m a graduate student with night class two nights a week, but otherwise I work from home. Making sure your pets get needed attention won’t be an issue for me! I only care for pets in the owners home, that way your fur baby stays where they are familiar and comfortable. I am very clean and tidy and will ensure that I clean up after myself while staying with your pet.
About: I’ve had experience watching dogs for my entire life. I know how to give medicine, including injections, to dogs and cats. I am also certified in first aid and have completed a “Stop the Bleed” course. I’m available most days with a few days notice. I am able to come over and walk your dogs or just spend time with your pets. I can easily come to you and do whatever is needed. Walks, feedings, etc. I am very attentive and love to play with your pets.
“Devi was incredible! She took the best care of our senior pug who also has some medical issues. She stayed overnight with him and we came back to a happy, healthy pup. We are so thankful to have met her and will certainly be reaching out for all our dog sitting needs moving forward. ❤️”

“upon my return, I noticed how very comfortable my puppy was with Leighanne. That is of utmost importance to me. Additionally my home was left superbly clean. Most thankful.”

“We love Brittany! My dogs really do. She is the perfect person to leave your babies with and I hope she will always be available when I need someone. She is so good with our 5 month old Boxer and is in love with Elvis (13 year old, Yorkie). Brittany is an outstanding person and takes her clients seriously, as if they were her babies. Would I recommend her 100% and would I choose her again 200%.”

“JaNasia is incredibly kind, patient, and responsible. She was able to handle our small zoo without issue and was always responsive and easy to reach. Will definitely be reaching out to book with her again!”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats my entire life and am very comfortable caring for pets of all ages and temperaments. I currently have a senior dog of my own, so I’m especially attentive to routine, patience, and reading body language. I’m experienced with daily walks, feeding schedules, administering basic medications, crate routines, and giving pets the attention they need while you’re away. I understand how important consistency and safety are, and I treat every animal like they’re my own. I work remotely and have the capacity to be available whenever needed, including those that need multiple walks, medications or play time throughout the day. In a client’s home, I prioritize keeping your pet’s routine as consistent as possible — same feeding times, walk schedule, and familiar environment. I always double-check doors, gates, leashes, and harnesses before and after walks, and I’m attentive to surroundings while outside. I treat your home with respect and leave everything as I found it. For drop-ins and walks, I focus on safety, patience, and clear communication. I’ll send updates and photos so you know your pet is comfortable and cared for. My goal is for you to feel completely at ease while you’re away.

“emma was so helpful and accommodating with my dog and cat 🐈. both pets were happy and calm upon my return, all care instructions had been followed, & the house was exactly as I had left it. what more could you ask for?? thank you so much for looking after my babies for me!!”

About: I've grown up surrounded by animals my entire life, and that hands-on experience is what truly sets me apart. I was raised with three cats (2 indoor, 1 outdoor), caring for them from kittenhood all the way through end-of-life care, including demanding daily routines and administering medication. I also have two dogs of my own: a Mini Australian Shepherd I raised from a puppy and personally trained. He’s so smart he keeps me on my toes, which means I know exactly how to handle high-energy, high-drive breeds and the escape artists of the dog world. The other is a large pitty mix we adopted at age two who came to us with leash pulling, reactivity, excessive barking, and rough play habits, all of which I've worked through and successfully managed. I know how to confidently handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Beyond cats and dogs, I've owned two guinea pigs, a hamster, and fish, so I understand the specific and often overlooked needs of small pets too. I've also assisted my sister in fostering cats, many of whom were shy, post-surgical, or required medication and special feeding instructions, so I'm completely comfortable with pets that need a little extra patience and TLC. Most recently, I pet sat a kitten over spring break 2026, and I'm always happy to sit for other pet owners' animals as well. As a sophomore in Alpha Chi Omega, I bring the same reliability, respect, and communication to pet sitting that I bring to everything I do. I treat every pet as if they were my own, follow your routines to the letter, and love keeping owners in the loop with regular updates, photos, and videos, as often as you'd like. If you're looking for someone experienced, trustworthy, and genuinely passionate about animals, I'm your person! I currently only have one exam left, so my schedule is essentially wide open! I'm in Blacksburg and available May 9–12 and May 16–22, with virtually nothing on my plate during those windows. Whether you need someone for a full house sit, multiple check-ins throughout the day, early morning visits, or late night drop-ins, I can make it work. Flexibility is my strong suit right now, so don't hesitate to reach out no matter the timing or frequency! I'm happy to care for pets both in my home and in yours! For in-home sitting and visits at your place, I'm completely comfortable following whatever routine, rules, and setup you have in place, your home, your way. If you'd like your pet to stay with me, I welcome that too! Just note that I live in an apartment, so I don't have a fenced-in yard, but my complex has a dog park and is surrounded by beautiful neighborhood nature trails that are perfect for walks and exploring. I'd also ask that you send everything your pet needs along with them (crate, food/water bowls, bed, toys, leash, etc.) so they have the comfort of their own familiar belongings, which is honestly better for them anyway!
About: I have been a dog owner for 10 years! I also have owned cats and ferrets in the past! I have experience with dogs ranging from puppies to seniors. I currently live in the Virginia Beach area but live and go to school at William and Mary where I have pets I care for regularly! I do work about 20 hours a week at my regular job but typically do not work until later in the afternoon. When I have taken care of pets in the past, I found it to be very easy to fit it in to my schedule. I will treat and respect your space like it is my own space. I will be sure to care for your pets as if they are my own.

About: I have been surrounded by all sorts of pets since childhood - from dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, turtles, and fish! There isn’t an animal that I don’t love. I am a pet parent myself to 3 incredible dogs, including a pit bull, Saint Bernard, and a German Wirehaired Pointer. I have experience with specific breeds of dogs who have very specific needs and love to participate in their training! Pets are family to me and I would love to make sure your family is well taken care of, always! I am currently transitioning from full time to part time work so I will have even more time to play and care for your pets! I work 9 am until 5:30 pm on the days that I do work so I am able to maintain a routine schedule for your animals if that is what they need! I have experience caring for multiple dogs at a time, especially dealing with different personalities, training needs, play styles, and temperaments. I am able to gauge any situation to ensure safety is the top priority.
About: I have taken care of both my own animals and other people's animals on and off for around 10 years. This includes walking, feeding, and playing with animals. Neighbors, friends, and families have relied on me to take care of their fur babies and have repeatedly asked me to take care of them due to how reliable and friendly I am. I have some experience in training dogs as well; I trained my own dog to become a certified therapy dog when I was in middle school. Both animals and their owners love me equally. I also wanted to mention that I can't change my name on this, but I go by Nico and not Stacy. My pronouns are he/him. Currently, I am in school to become and EMT and am also working a part-time job at a bowling alley of Tunnel Rd. I am looking to take care of your pet on days that I am either off work or not in school. I currently own a hamster that I love and adore. I allow her to run around in her ball while I am in my room. I would make sure your fur baby is safe, entertained, and happy while I am caring for them. I would never leave them without something they may need, and I would allow them to play, exercise, etc under my supervision.
About: I have taken care of multiple dogs at a time. I have some experience giving dogs pills. I also have experience with dogs with anxiety or that are easily spooked. I will always focus on comforting and soothing them. I enjoy taking them on walks, playing fetch, and keeping them active. I have experience with small, medium, and large dogs. I am employed full time, but I have availability in the mornings before 9am and evenings after 6:30pm. I have all day availability Sundays and Mondays. I do not currently have a pet of my own, due to my prior living situation not allowing. But I plan to adopt a beautiful kitty of my own in the next few months. I have experience with dogs that require crating, and I am a firm believer in crates being a dog's safe space not a punishment. I will always focus on pets safety and well-being above all.
About: I’ve loved animals my whole life and have experience caring for my own pets as well as helping family and friends with theirs. I understand that every pet is unique and deserves patience, attention, and love. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. 🐾🩷 I currently do work but I am off for a while so I will be able to provide your pet with my full attention during the day. Your pets are allowed in my home. I will be able to take them on walks. I do not have a large yard to provide them with.

“Alexandra was exceptional! She was willing to take on a 14 week old puppy that we have only had for 4 days. She was so great with the baby, and both older dogs. She was diligent with a puppy who is still learning potty training, and manners. The puppy did not have a single accident while Alexandra was here. Would absolutely book again when we have a need.”

Devi was incredible! She took the best care of our senior pug who also has some medical issues. She stayed overnight with him and we came back to a happy, healthy pup. We are so thankful to have met her and will certainly be reaching out for all our dog sitting needs moving forward. ❤️

Erika was fantastic! First time hiring her. She was great with our pup. She was super responsive and made us feel really comfortable being away! She made pup feel comfortable too. She treated our house with respect and was very professional. Highly recommend!

Leila took such wonderful care of both my dog Matteo and my cat Diesel while I was away. Matteo immediately loved her, and she made sure he got plenty of attention and exercise. What really impressed me, though, was how she connected with Diesel. He’s extremely shy and almost never comes out when new people are around—but somehow Leila won him over! By the end of the visit, he was not only comfortable but eating right out of her hand. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing both of my pets were happy, safe, and cared for like family. Leila sent thoughtful updates and photos, which I really appreciated. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, compassionate sitter. We feel lucky to have found her!

FAQs for House Sitting - Sigma
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sigma on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,072 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sigma. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sigma walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sigma maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sigma choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sigma. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
