“Shannon kept us informed at all times. She sent videos and photos of Bruno. Thank you for doing a great job taking care of him. Highly recommend their service.”

“Christie did a great job keeping us informed about how how our dog was doing during his stay! He recently lost his eye sight so we were pretty worried about leaving him. Christie put us at ease and was very flexible with the booking. Thank you so much!”

“Our 1 year old Great Pyrenees mix was so happy during her stay with Sara and her golden retriever Scarlet! We loved the updates Sara provided and Nina was taken great care of! We are so happy that we have found a family that cares just as much about Nina as we do :) We will absolutely be contacting Sara for our future stay needs!”
“Nyah is very sweet. She was accommodating to a last minute, same day request with a drop off within 2 hours. Amazing right! What a blessing We had an extremely important event the following day and our original pet plan didn’t work out Nyah opened her home and allowed 2 night boarding for our kitty Being on vacation and unfamiliar with the areas pet care Rover was my only option. This was our first time using Rover, Thankfully the site provides quality sitters like Nyah who have availability to get you out of a pinch It didn’t hurt that Nyah has a cat of her own We were excited that Coda could spend some time with a fellow feline:) She communicated well and sent updates and pics daily. I recommend this home for your pet baby needs and would use Nyah as a sitter again.”

“Emmy had a fantastic stay with Dalton and his family! Dalton was very detailed and asked plenty of questions prior to the stay to make sure he knew how to take care of Emmy and there wasn’t anything he was missing. I had complete trust that Emmy was in good hands and I would rebook in a heartbeat.”

“Jenn is amazing. Thank you for watching Kiyo last minute (due to family emergency). Thank you for the daily pictures. I appreciate you watching my little love bug. We’ll see you again in October!”

“Wendy was so great!!! I felt 100% comfy leaving my Ellie boo with her. She sent me sweet cuddling pictures while we were away and took the best care of our girl. She was loved on like family, no doubt about that. EXTRA thankful for her help getting in/out at pickup while I was SOLO in the weather🤣 the sweetest human. We will def be using Wendy in the future. 10/10 recommend!!”

“Cassandra did an amazing job with my 11 year old Golden Retriever. Her whole family loved him as if he was their own and she had great communication throughout the entire time!”

“Cherry was wonderful! She provided tons of videos and photos of my two pups! Even with crazy travel issues, she was able to keep my dogs for longer than originally planned and gave me peace of mind as I navigated travel delays! Highly recommend her for watching your pets!”

“This was my first time using Rover, and it was a wonderful experience! My dog is 12 years old and blind, so at first I was anxious about leaving her under someone else’s care. Jiyali made me feel very comfortable with her listed experience and asking the right questions before dropping her off to make sure she would be comfortable and happy during her stay. She sent frequent updates, and in every photo and video my dog looked so happy to be there! The process was very convenient, and both me and my dog were comfortable with the care she provided and will definitely request her again. I’m grateful to have found someone that could ease my anxiety and make the experience wonderful. Thank you so much for everything!”

“Hailey was an awesome sitter and I would highly recommend her for your dog’s care! She was very responsive and made sure my dog was taken care of while I was away!”

“Shawn took great care of our boxer Milo. He communicated well and sent many photos. It is obvious he cares greatly for dogs. This was our first time using Rover and we will use Shawn again!”
“Cameron was a total lifesaver when my original sitter canceled last minute. He invited me over right away and gave me a full tour of his home — it’s truly set up perfectly for boarding dogs. I felt completely comfortable leaving my puppy with him. He sent frequent updates and photos throughout the stay, which gave me so much peace of mind. I highly recommend Cameron to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter.”

“Maggie is absolutely amazing. We were terrified at the thought of leaving our baby with a stranger. We typically board her with a local boarding facility, but of course they were completely booked for Thanksgiving. The entire process was very easy. Upon arrival Maggie was very welcoming and immediately made Coco as well as us l, her parents feel comfortable. Our entire family dropped Coco off and we were all put at ease by Maggie’s demeanor. Throughout the stay Maggie sent us many updates via photos, and also general updates on how Coco was doing and adjusting to her environment. The photos were always so adorable and we could easily see that Coco was in a happy place. Pick up was just as easy and quick. Coco arrived home happily tired from her fun weekend. I highly recommend Maggie and I am so grateful to have found her. At this point we will check Maggie’s availability prior to checking for the local boarding facilitie’s availability! Thank you very much Maggie for taking great care of our baby.”

About: I’ve had many dogs since I was a child and have experienced many differing personalities and needs among dogs. We have a large fenced in backyard with lots of room for play and two pups who are ready to make new friends! I work from home full time so I am able to interact with the dogs during the day and make sure they get all the attention they need. Prefer a dog visit prior to sitting to ensure compatibility with our dogs. Our dogs are kind and playful, but can sometimes be protective of the home so visits ahead of time help greatly to ensure compatibility. I have an acre-large, fenced-in yard that provides plenty of space for dogs to run around and play. We have tennis balls and toys that we throw for them so the dogs can have a fun experience. We also have 1x crate in the event your dog is still a puppy or prefers an enclosed space overnight. For first time visits, we will introduce the dogs through our backyard to make sure all dogs have space and time to adjust to each other.
“Stacy and her family were so so so kind and loving to my dog Bella!! Bella is 19 months old so definitely still in the puppy phase and Stacy was so welcoming and loving to her! I had to go out of town for a few days and I got updates with pictures and she truly spoiled her! I can’t thank her enough for everything she did for my Bella girl. Truly amazing at what she does!!!”

“Nicole was a gem! She took very good care of our dog Gino and worked with our schedule, I mistakenly forgot to text her to let her know my daughter was picking up the dog early, totally my fault, and she was understanding and worked with me, she has other dogs that got along well with mine, she's the local dog whisperer is what my wife and I said, lol, I will be going back to her for sure in the future!”
“Priscila took such great care of George! She sent constant updates and photos. He loved playing with his new friend Dobby (her dog). We will definitely use Priscila again in the future!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Sigma home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Sigma.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Sigma sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
