“Sara was awesome! Our pups loved her from the very first time that they met her. When you have a dog with special needs, you need a special sitter & I believe we found that with Sara. One of our dogs is a diabetic so I was nervous leaving him with someone whom he just met for the first time. We were only gone for the day & she didn't have to give any shots but she took great care of both dogs & sent us pictures throughout the day which we really enjoyed. Great job Sara!”

“Did a great job taking care of Luna (dog) and KB (rabbit) over the thanksgiving holidays. He was able to take Luna on a walk and get her out of the house which was perfect for her. Would re-book again in a heart beat for my next travel needs.”

“Kathy is a great pet sitter with great communication. We never have to worry about our pets when Kathy watches them. She treats them like they are her own.”

“Jupiter decided to give our sitter Amanda a bit of a scare, but she handled it all right and took good care of our old man. I think Jupiter enjoyed making a new cuddle buddy. 😊”

“Hannah has been wonderful with our two dogs, one of which was recently ill and recovering from surgery. It’s been great having someone we can trust with them while we’re away! She always sends lots of pictures and communicates well :)”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter than Alyssia! She stayed overnight in our home for a week while we were on vacation in the OBX and took fantastic care of our three cats. She sent daily updates with funny photos and videos that gave us total peace of mind (and some good laughs). Alyssia also took excellent care of our home—bringing in the mail and packages, taking out the trash, and cleaning up after herself. Everything was spotless when we returned. Most importantly, our cats were calm, happy, and well-fed. In the past, they’ve seemed stressed or even lost weight while we were away, but not this time. They warmed up to her quickly! We’ve already rebooked her and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter. Thank you, Alyssia!”

“Hailey did an amazing job watching my dogs for a few hours while I was at a concert. She was responsible, kind, and attentive, and it gave me so much peace of mind knowing they were in great hands. My dogs were happy, relaxed, and well cared for when I got home, and it was clear she genuinely enjoys being around animals. I would absolutely trust Hailey with my dogs again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring pet sitter!”

“Felicia was great with my poodles. She also was very respectful of my house and our routines. I highly recommend her if you are looking for reliable pet care. She did an awesome job!”

About: I have never lived in a place without one or more animal in my entire life. My parents love animals and sought their companionship to accompany their children’s upbringing. Incidentally, that love and respect for all lives was passed down to me. I have shared many friendships with pets in my home and pets who live with others. With that, I have trained and reared all of my pets to ensure their safety and the safety of everyone they meet. My goal is to connect and provide comfort to any animal friend that I have the pleasure of meeting. As a part time literacy tutor, I plan to spend my mornings and early afternoon focused on student literacy and the rest of my day spending time with new friends and helping out their humans. During weekends my availability is considerably more open. This will allow me to help out longer if needed. I have a full house currently, three dogs and that many cats, all with their own comfort levels and boundaries. My eldest and largest buddy lived most of his life with two older and much smaller ladies who kept him company. One now lives in a different home with my father and the other lived a long life and passed in her sleep. Since then, he has been anxious and weary of any new friends. My other two dogs are inseparable, father and son, and are intrigued by the cats and completely comfortable with them doing their thing. Naturally, my pets that are more comfortable together are on a different schedule than my other, to ensure everyone’s safety and ease. In my home, I prioritize the comfort of those in my care, regardless of the convenience to me. Their needs come before mine, I plan to carry this to every family and furry family members I meet.

“Kayla was amazing! She took wonderful care of our fur baby while we were gone and made sure to send multiple updates along with pictures every day. We will be rebooking her whenever we need someone to watch him again. We will also be recommending her to any and all friends looking for a wonderful, reliable sitter. 10/10 recommend!”

“Gracie is awesome! She takes great care of my babies in my home and shares lots of photos every day. She is very responsible, communicative, and clearly cares a lot about the pets she watches.”

“Zaine did a great job of taking care of our dog, Dodji. She let him sleep with her which I'm sure he loved. When he got sick she contacted us to let us know. She even let us pick him up late at night since he wasn't feeling his best. We would use Zaine again!”

“Sydney was beyond amazing. She kept in constant contact with us, sending lots of pictures. She gave extra snuggles and love to our babies and even ran the vacuum. We especially appreciate her patience and understanding with our newly adopted pup. Will definitely book again.”
“JaNasia is incredibly kind, patient, and responsible. She was able to handle our small zoo without issue and was always responsive and easy to reach. Will definitely be reaching out to book with her again!”

“Abbie was the best. We absolutely would book with her again. She took great care of our dog and our home. She was very communicative about what was going on and gave thorough updates. It’s easy to tell how much she cares for animals. Your pet will be well taken care of with Abbie.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Albemarle Farms
Kathy did a great job with our senior dog! He has a complicated medication and feeding schedule, which included loading two electronic feeders, and she handled it beautifully. She only left him for short periods during the day and spent the night in case he needed a potty break. We would definitely book her again if the need arises.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Albemarle Farms walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Albemarle Farms maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Albemarle Farms choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
