“Sara is absolutely amazing!! She is so good with my babies they adore her! She’s so responsible, communicative and truly loves them. She’s a blessing to have as a sitter!”

“Mario did a great job keeping me informed and sent cute videos. He did amazing with my 2 big dogs and cat! Even with one of my dogs that has anxiety with me being gone. He showed early to meet them as well which helped a lot. I would highly recommend him!”

“Our dog took to Hailey immediately and throughout our trip, she has sent us pictures and kept us updated. Highly recommend, but wait until I book her next visit before you do!”

“Jalen was truly wonderful. I booked him for a quick stop in/feeding and then a few days staying overnight in our house during the July 4th holiday weekend with my dog and cat. He took the time to come visit us prior to watching my animals to meet and greet, which definitely calmed my nerves having a new person come in the house. He kept us continuously up to date with pictures and any questions he had, he even watered my plants in this heat wave! If you are in need of pet sitting, I highly recommend Jalen!”

“Felicia was amazing! We came home to happy dogs and a clean home. Thank you for everything. We’ll be in touch for another upcoming trip we’ll need your services for!”

“Jupiter decided to give our sitter Amanda a bit of a scare, but she handled it all right and took good care of our old man. I think Jupiter enjoyed making a new cuddle buddy. 😊”

“Abbie was the best. We absolutely would book with her again. She took great care of our dog and our home. She was very communicative about what was going on and gave thorough updates. It’s easy to tell how much she cares for animals. Your pet will be well taken care of with Abbie.”

“Sydney was absolutely wonderful! She house sat for us and looked after our special needs dog with ease. Sydney sent us messages throughout the day and lots of photos to make sure we felt comfortable. She went above and beyond by replacing a smoke detector battery that started beeping while we were away. We will definitely be booking with Sydney again. She took care of our pup and home as if they were her own.”

“Kathy did a great job and our pups loved her. Our first pet sitter cancelled on us the night before we were supposed to leave on our vacation and were scrambling to find another pet sitter and Kathy responded back to us quickly and was able to do a meet and greet with the pup and us. We had great communication with Kathy. We will definitely book Kathy again 10/10 pet sitter.”

“Hillary did a great job taking care of Sir Henry! She kept me updated throughout the visit, took him for a walk, played with him, and made sure he had plenty of attention and activity. When we arrived home, Sir Henry was happily napping, which told me he had a fun and busy afternoon. I really appreciated the updates and knowing he was being well cared for while we were away. Overall, we were very happy with Hillary and would be happy to have her watch Sir Henry again!”

“JaNasia is incredibly kind, patient, and responsible. She was able to handle our small zoo without issue and was always responsive and easy to reach. Will definitely be reaching out to book with her again!”

About: I have always loved animals of all kinds since I was a child. Any little creature, I would quickly take in and care for. The most precious of all was our sweet mini longhair black and tan dachshund - Willow (aka Snoozy and Lovey), who for 16 beautiful, snuggle-filled years, we were honored to be her mommy and daddy! We got her when she was just 8weeks old from some friends of ours, who's doxies had puppies, and she was our very heart for all those years. We sadly lost our baby November 11, 2025 at 16yrs old. Not a moment of every day doesn't go by where we do not think of her, remember her or talk about her. I am very experienced with the care, attention, and love these sweet babies need from puppies all the way up to senior care. Our baby-girl Willow developed CCD (canine cognitive dysfunction the last year of her life and my husband and I became extremely knowledgeable of the meds needed, traditional meds as well as herbal, along with the various adjustments that were needed with the focus of keeping her happy, comfortable and safe. This has helped me to be able to lovingly care for doggies of all stages of life and various needs. In February 2026, we began volunteering for Chesapeake Humane Society and Chesapeake Animal Services as foster parents. We wanted to share a loving home with animals who unfortunately, don't have what our baby girl had. I have also done pet sitting for quite a few of our friends over the years for a variety of doggies. My husband and I both work from home and our jobs are not stressful or overly demanding. So, it would not be an inconvenience or out of the norm for us to have a furry visitor during the week. Our weekends are a bit busier, but again our schedules are usually flexible, and with sufficient advance scheduling we have been able to sit for our friends, and foster dogs and cats successfully. In my home it is catered to each individual animal, we have a large kitchen area that we use as an introduction to our home, then if the dog or cat feels comfortable, we bring them upstairs with us to sleep in our upstairs hallway or our bedroom (either in their crate, or I have setup a sleeping area in our upstairs hallway with safety gates, also depending on the specific care, size of dog and age). I have never done client home care for pet sitting, but I plan on getting specific details from each client to know their individual pet's needs, comfort level, and any other details in order that their baby is safe, and happy.
“Alyssa was amazing with our 2 dogs. She was dependable. She followed our dogs schedule. She kept us updated whole we were gone. I could trust her completely in our home. We will use her again.”

“Gracie was wonderful! Our pets were well cared for and house was kept tidy. She sent multiple updates and photos each day, and asked questions if she needed assistance. We would happily rebook Gracie another time.”

“Ian was fantastic and took excellent care of our dogs while we were away. He kept us updated with regular photos and messages, which gave us peace of mind. Our dogs were happy, well cared for, and clearly enjoyed spending time with him. We would absolutely book with Ian again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Albemarle Farms
Kathy did a great job with our senior dog! He has a complicated medication and feeding schedule, which included loading two electronic feeders, and she handled it beautifully. She only left him for short periods during the day and spent the night in case he needed a potty break. We would definitely book her again if the need arises.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Albemarle Farms walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Albemarle Farms maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Albemarle Farms choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
