“We've used Rover's dog walking service for the first time and the experiance with Angie was great! She was quick to respond and very pleasant to talk to. Angie was profesional, she took her task above and beyond, spending more time with our dog to make sure he's ok before she leaves. She even took care of our mail! Thank you Angie for your excellent work and dedication! We highly recommend her service.”

About: Hi! I’m Lauren, a dog lover who works from home, so your pup will have plenty of attention throughout the day. We have a fully fenced backyard for safe playtime and a comfortable, pet-friendly home where dogs are treated like family. I also have two animal-loving kids who enjoy giving our furry guests extra love and attention. I’m happy to follow your dog’s normal routine, including walks, feeding, medications, and plenty of cuddles. I’ll send regular photo updates so you can relax knowing your pup is happy, safe, and well cared for. One of the biggest benefits I offer is that I work from home, which means your dog won’t be left alone for long stretches of time. I’m available throughout the day to give your pet plenty of attention, playtime, and potty breaks. Because I’m home, I can keep a close eye on your pup and provide a safe, comfortable, and consistent environment. Whether it’s cuddles, walks, or just hanging out together, your dog will always have company and care. I have a safe, fenced-in yard that gives dogs a secure yard and a large deck to relax on. Whether your pup loves fetch, sunbathing, or just sniffing around, they’ll have a safe outdoor space to enjoy. I’m also happy to follow any specific requests you have for your dog’s routine — from feeding schedules and medication to favorite toys and special walks. My goal is to make sure your dog feels comfortable, cared for, and right at home.

About: I have spent my entire life surrounded by animals and have developed deep, hands-on experience with specialized pet care. I am incredibly comfortable administering medications and managing complex health routines. My background includes bottle-feeding newborn kittens, managing delicate medical schedules, and providing the strict, attentive care required for rescue dogs undergoing intense heartworm treatments. Our large, two-story home and fully fenced backyard offer a highly secure, adaptable space for your pets. Whether your dog or cat needs a lively vacation or meticulous medical supervision, they will be safe, comfortable, and expertly cared for here. As a stay at home mom, I am full time at home and dedicated to our daily household and animal routines. Because I am here throughout the day, your pet will receive constant supervision, regular bathroom breaks, and plenty of attention. Pet care doesn't just fit into my schedul, it is a seamless part of my everyday life at home. Safety and structure are my top priorities. In our home, we maintain a highly secure environment featuring a large, fully fenced backyard for safe outdoor time. We keep a well-managed household where guest pets are integrated smoothly alongside our own crate-trained dogs. Whether your pet requires strict crate time, routine medical or medication management, or just a calm, supervised space to relax, I ensure their specific safety and emotional needs are met 24/7.
About: I’ve had the joy of caring for many different pets, but dogs and cats always have a special place in my heart! As a big animal lover, I truly enjoy being around them. I’ve trained puppies, cared for adult and senior pets, they all are so special! As a military wife and stay-at-home mom, I have a flexible schedule that will allow me to spend time with your pets while you’re away. I care for every pet as if they were my own, following each owner’s instructions for feeding, exercise, medication, and routines. My priority is keeping pets safe, comfortable, and happy while giving them attention and affection.
“Rachel is the best dog walker anyone could ever have. She is always on time and is very attentive. She is great with our dog and great with my Mom who is older. THANKS RACHEL”

“Karen is delightful and Hudson just adores her. She was very personable and followed directions for taking care of Hudson to a “T”. I will trust her explicitly to take care of Hudson the Golden Retriever.”

About: Hi! My name is Rheagan. I am a huge dog lover, and I have my own little fur ball at home :) I’ve had dogs my entire life and since I was a little girl I’ve always had a special place in my heart for them. I also have over 100+ 5⭐️ ratings on the Wag! Caregiver app. I’m working and going to school part time, but can work around both. My availability is based on both my work along with my school schedule. However, we can work around both :) I will care for your pet by making sure they are well hydrated and fed. I will let them out, walk them, and give them plenty of love aswell as treats.
“Very pleased with Mackenzie, very thorough and take excellent care of your animals. Mackenzie was recommended by a long time friend, and I most certainly will recommend her as well!”
“Ally was a weekly dog walker for me when needed. She communicated well and was great with my small dog. He warmed right up to her in no time. Highly recommend!!”

About: I’ve always had dogs in my life and helped friends and family take care of their pets. I house-sat throughout college. And growing up, neighbors would frequently trust me to take care of their pets while on vacation. I’ve looked after a variety of dogs, large dogs (Rottweiler and Goldens) and small (Yorkies and other terriers). I love them all. I’ve personally owned 2 boxers (one of which I rescued) and grew up with Dachshunds and a Scottish terrier. My husband has owned miniature Schnauzers. We are very knowledgeable in a variety of breeds. I work part-time during the week so there may be times where your pet will have to be alone for at least 8 hrs. We are both very active and outdoor lovers, so your pet won’t be cooped up inside all day, unless that is your preference. We have a fenced yard with security cameras. We pride ourselves on organization and paying attention to detail, so your baby will be prioritized and well taken of.

About: I’ve had pets all my life. I’ve also worked at a pet store for 6 years. Work experience includes fish, birds, small animals, reptiles and amphibians, arachnids, cats, and dogs. I am stay at home dog mom who just moved from Springfield, MO, so I will have plenty of free time to check in on your pets! I have plenty of experience walking large-medium dogs and reactive dogs. I tend to bring new toys and treats to earn the pet’s favor. I will love them like they are my own while you are gone!
About: Hello! We are a super friendly married couple with a 3-year old little boy. For the first time in 10 years we are a dog free household. We recently had to put both our dogs down 6 months apart due to old age and now it’s too quiet around here. While we remain positive and looking forward to a well deserved break from owning dogs, we would look forward to taking the edge off by borrowing yours! We have a lot of experience fostering dogs for rescues, and we've invested heavily on dog/people training so that we'd be able to dog whisper our way into your pet's heart. I’d like to reiterate the fact that WE DO HAVE A THREE YEAR OLD BOY. He loves dogs, is around them frequently, and we keep a very watchful eye. If your dog reciprocates kindness to children then it's a good fit! Our home is also large enough for separation and space as needed. Dogs are the best, and in our household, there's no such thing as a 'bad dog'. I hate the term “aggressive breed”. No offense to conventional canines (you’re awesome, too!) but “aggressive breed” really means “super intelligent, misunderstood, natural pack leader, and eager to please.” I have a huge soft spot for German Shepherds, Dobermans, Rotties, and Pitties. As lifelong dog owners, we're well equipped and confident with all breeds. Your pup is sure to be safe and sound in our cozy home with a gigantic backyard as well as a very dog-friendly neighborhood. We look forward to hopefully working with you soon! Good exercise with early morning walks, a balanced diet at breakfast and dinner, and of course some treats along the way. Our backyard is gigantic so there’s plenty of playing and running happening out there! We have a large fenced-in backyard and plenty of sitting space inside the home as well. I've never had an escape artist besides my own, but I've always been able to get them to come back to me by making it a game! Anytime the animals are left alone, or taken to another location like a dog park, or friend’s home, it is discussed with the pet's parents in advance.
About: Ive been a pet sitter since I was 16 but I’ve always had cats and/or dogs. I started recently helping a military friend when her dog sitter’s didn’t show or canceled and i love it! I work part time so I can do walks or visits before or after work. I only work a few hours a day a few days a week! We currently have a cat and my mom stays home all day with her. We feed her twice a day and keep fresh water out. She loves to play!
About: Hi, I'm a local pet owner and carer in the North Chicago area looking to serve all of your pet sitting needs. I love animals, having cared for several cats and dogs of my own since 2008. Larger dogs are not an issue for me as I have owned and cared for an Akita in the past. I am concientious with regard to special care for your pet and love going for long walks. I enjoy playing and running with your pup for both strength and growth. I am also careful about communication with you about the pet's progress and health. My attention to detail and patience will allow me to assess and provide what your pet enjoys most about play-time and keep up with them throughout the daily routines. Looking forward to hearing from you! I'm currently working part time, so I have plenty of walking time available. Playtime for my dogs looks like walking and fetch at the park and for my cats, fishing poles and string. I am available to sit your pets within your home. I have an excellent track record with cleanliness and good stewardship both of pets, whose care is primary, and homes.

Angie was very responsive and communicative. I haven’t gotten a dog walker in years and was worried about selecting the wrong person but Angie was the best choice. She was on time, understanding, and provided solid feedback. I would rebook her services if ever needed again.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
