“This was our first time using Dmytro and it was great! Fast and consistent communication, worked well with multiple changes to the visit and sent pictures of two happy dogs!”

“Chloe was a wonderful pet sitter! She took amazing care of our dog and our bunny while we were out of town. She was incredibly respectful of our home & space, and left everything in perfect condition. We appreciated her communication and updates with pictures of our pets! I would absolutely recommend her!”

“Ben was great at keeping up with our pets scheduled feeding and walking times. He stayed at our place and kept the place clean and followed all instructions. He provided daily updates and photos while we were away! I would recommend him to anyone looking for a sitter!”

“We had a wonderful experience with our house and pet sitter Murou! She took exceptional care of our two cats, giving them all the attention, affection, and routine they’re used to. We loved receiving her daily updates and photos. They were thoughtful, consistent, and gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Murou also cared for our home with the same level of attention and respect, and we returned to everything spotless and in perfect order. It’s clear she takes great pride in what she does, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and truly outstanding sitter. Our cats adored her, and so did we!”

“Mikayla did a spectacular job taking care of Twyla! In our initial meet up she instilled in us a sense of calmness by sharing her experience with pets and asking all the necessary questions to ensure that she was doing a great job and was ready to take care of Twyla. We came back to a very happy Twyla!”

About: I grew up around dogs and small pets like hamsters and ferrets, so looking after animals is second nature to me! My childhood dog was a Siberian Husky, and I regularly took full care of him on my own during multi-day trips when my family was away. Because of that, I’m super comfortable handling big, high-energy breeds and keeping up with their exercise, and additionally i know how to manage setups that a small exotic pet like a ferret or guinea pig would need. I'm generally very free because I'm on summer break, but I do go to the gym daily and when in-house will likely be out of the house for 2-3 hours minimum. I typically choose care depending on the breed or specific needs, but as a baseline I regularly feed twice a day and like to go between one to two long walks a day or a dog park and extra playtime. With small exotics, I like to have dedicated playtime within a secure area! I DO typically wipe off paws if needed, i.e. they get muddy or wet, but if a pet doesn't let me I will not force them. With small exotics that have cages, I spot-clean whenever possible to keep their space clean.
“Kyli was thoughtful, thorough, reliable and kind. Our animals were calm and well cared for upon our return. She loved our dog but somehow she won over our very shy cat, a cat whisperer for sure. Thank you Kyli!”

“Magdalena was watching our 8 months old puppy for a week and he had an awesome time . She was very consistent with providing us regular updates for him daily - multiple times a day . She even spend time continue to train him and taught him new things . She was very involved about our dogs sleep time and comfort and thought like a mom does . I felt safe and happy leaving him with someone who cared so much . Thanks to Magdalena and would surly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great sitter .”

“Our plans changed the day before we were scheduled to leave and we couldn’t bring our dog as planned, we frantically looked for a dog sitter and luckily we found Ethan! He was so wonderful with our dog Lucy while we were gone for a week. He took her for daily walks as we asked and kept in frequent communication with us about day to day activities, sending us pictures. He was neat and clean and respectful of our home. We came home from our trip to a very happy, well cared for dog. Thank you Ethan!”

“Clover was an excellent pet sitter for our Brittany Pepper and long hair cat. They were very attentive and gave regular detailed updates and pictures of our pets. I couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of their services. High praise indeed.”

“Maryna and her husband were amazing!!! They came by for a meet and greet before house sitting our pup and cat for 3 days, and took such great care to get to know them and their routine. Maryna also sent lots of updates and photos throughout their stay (which I really appreciated as someone who gets anxious leaving our little guys behind). They even took the time to take out the trash and do dishes before leaving. We will definitely be asking Maryna to pet sit for us again 😊”

“Barbara was fantastic! She did an amazing job taking care of our two dogs and aquarium. One of our dogs is very nervous around new people and by the end of Barbara's stay, the dog was comfortable with her. She provide updates daily and did not hesitate when any instructions were unclear. I will definitely book with Barbara again.”

“Dylan did a great job caring for our dog Lacey. He sent us regular updates with photos which put us at ease as we were out of town for several days. He was dependable and easy to communicate with. I would definitely hire him again!”
“Briana took great care of my pups! She had great communication, was reliable, followed all our instructions, accommodated a last minute request from us, and kept Murphy and Charlie relaxed and happy during her visit. I would be very comfortable leaving my fur babies in her care in the future! Thank you, Briana!”
“She was the best. Very communicative and flexible. We have a large group of pets and she handled it all very well. We could not be more appreciative of the job she did. Leaving our pets with someone can be stressful but I didn't worry a bit with leaving them with her.”
“Brandi stayed with our two dogs and bird for a long weekend while we were traveling. She did a great job caring for the animals! We really appreciate her spending so much time with them and letting us know how things were going. Its really nice to be able to go out of town and know your pets are being well cared for. We would highly recommend Brandi and will definitely ask her to house sit for us again!”

“Jaimee took excellent care of my dogs while I was away. Upon my return, they greeted me happily and looked well cared for. It was nice to be able to be out of town knowing the dogs were being looked after so well.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Union Hill-Novelty Hill
Ashley was awesome and we'd definitely recommend/book with her again. She was respectful, on time, thorough and really great with our dogs and the house. She left the house in great shape even beyond my expectations, and the dogs were very happy. Thanks so much Ashley!

Luke did a great job. The house was left immaculate and all the animals were well taken care of. I would have preferred better communication. I'm used to daily updates with pictures. I received one picture the entire week and any updates I had to initiate. He didn't stay over two of the seven nights. I would have preferred communication to that effect so I would be aware of this ahead of time as with previous dogs, this would have been a huge issue. Luckily with our current dog, she did ok but it was her first nights alone.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Union Hill-Novelty Hill walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Union Hill-Novelty Hill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Union Hill-Novelty Hill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
