“Abby was great with Harry! She showed real interest in getting to know Harry before her pet sitting even started, asking if we had and special instructions (which we do 😅). We sent the whole pet sitting guide we've created over his life so far and she read it! She was right on time, took Harry for a walk, played with him, and let him relax like he usually does during the day. She was so sweet with him and Harry had a great day with Abby! We also got so many fun pics and vids throughout their day together 😆”

“10/10! Dmytro was stellar in care of my dogs and taking care of our home. He took the time to do an initial meet and greet with me; he was thoughtful, communicative, very easy to work with, and sent lots of pictures of my dogs while I was gone. We came home to a clean home and my dogs loved him! Will definitely have him house- and dog-sit again - very very happy with experience. Thanks Dmytro!”
“Jen was so wonderful with our two dogs. She was so good with both and was responsive and easy to work with. She also took very good care of our home while we were away. We would recommend Jen to others and will book her again if schedules allow.”

“Best kitty sitter ever. I came home to some very happy relaxed cats. Both my cats are high maintenence and Tricia handled everything super well. She treated our house super well too. I would hire her again with out question. So pleased with her service!”

“Robert was ABSOLUTELY fabulous! He was patient, thoughtful, and really communicative. From the moment we requested a sitter until after the service was complete, he was swift to respond, sent lots of pictures, and kept us updated on all the pet care rituals. He did not flinch when the breaker needed to be reset during a housesit, and he took such wonderful care of our tankgirl, Bailey. 5 stars, 2 thumbs way up, and a 3 snaps in Z formation! Highly recommend.”

“Hands down best dog sitter experience I’ve ever had on this app. Brandy was so sweet and took care of both of my dogs how I would. It’s hard to trust people with your dogs but Brandy is soooo trustworthy.”

“Barbara was fantastic! She did an amazing job taking care of our two dogs and aquarium. One of our dogs is very nervous around new people and by the end of Barbara's stay, the dog was comfortable with her. She provide updates daily and did not hesitate when any instructions were unclear. I will definitely book with Barbara again.”

“Maryna is a great sitter! Her and her husband house-sat our 2 cats for a long weekend. I was impressed by how quickly our cats warmed up to them, especially our older, grumpier cat! Maryna sent us frequent pictures, videos, and updates, so we were able to focus on our vacation knowing that our fur-babies were in good hands. We also returned to a very clean house, which was a lovely way to end our trip! We'll definitely be booking Maryna again in the future :-D”

“Russell was fantastic with both of our pups! He was always providing great photos and videos while we were away. He made us feel very comfortable with leaving our pups with him and we would definitely looking to book again when we are away!”

About: I have cared for animals ever since I was very young, and officially at 9 years old when I got a little hands on experience caring for horses at my riding club. Then more hands on experience when I officially started volunteering at my club for 2 years. But more importantly, I have cat care, and dog care experience. I am responsible for my 2 kitties that I own and I have dog sat 2 puppers for a family friend in the recent past. Animals are a huge part of my life and it has been my dream to follow a career path based around animals ever since I was a little kid. I genuinely want more pet sitting experiences and I would love to care for as many fur babies as I possibly can. I work part time so I have lots of availability in my week to take care of your fur babies. During my available days which are Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, I am very flexible and will be ready to care for your pets at the times you need me to. To keep my kitties safe, my home is cat proofed and I am always on the look out for small objects, wrappers, or anything on the ground that might be dangerous for them. I will do the same in your home to make sure your pets are safe and sound. I will safely take your dogs on walks, feed them, and play with them based on the routine you would like me to follow. As well as any special feeding instructions they have. I will keep your puppers and kitties entertained and well fed. I will also clean their food and water dishes when needed and snuggle with them. I can adjust to whatever your pet needs based on their personality, energy level, or whatever they need in general.
“Danayt took wonderful care of my dog and house, and I would definitely hire her again! She sent lots of updates about how my dog was doing and was very professional and friendly. She even cleaned up the house before I returned. I highly recommend her!”

“Ben provide great care for our dog and house during our time away. He provided us with multiple photos and updates daily, which gave us piece of mind. We recommend Ben and will hire again. Thanks”

“Kyli was thoughtful, thorough, reliable and kind. Our animals were calm and well cared for upon our return. She loved our dog but somehow she won over our very shy cat, a cat whisperer for sure. Thank you Kyli!”

About: I’ve loved and cared for dogs my whole life, growing up with Bernese Mountain Dogs, and now with two rescues! I've worked in an animal shelter with dogs of many sizes, breeds, and temperaments, so I'm skilled at socializing, walking, and playing with dogs with all kinds of personalities. I've also cared for a reactive dog of my own, which has taught me even more about canine body language and how to respond safely. With experience ranging from puppies to seniors, including medical and special needs care, I give every dog the patience, and love they deserve, as if they were my own! I currently have a hybrid position, and hoping to care for animals with my extra time! Due to remote work, my schedule is quite flexible and I'm available for boarding or check ins most days. When I’m caring for pets in your home, my goal is to make things feel as normal and comfortable for them as possible. I stick to your usual routines so they feel safe and loved while you’re away. I’m attentive to their moods and body language, and I’m happy to provide updates and photos so you can relax knowing they’re happy and cared for. I’ll also treat your home with the same respect I’d want for my own, leaving it just as you left it. Happy to align with your needs!
“Jennifer took excellent care of our dog, cats, and home while we were gone. She kept us updated with messages and pictures the whole time. We felt very comfortable leaving our fur babies in her care.”

“Murou (DeeDee) was a fantastic house dog-sitter! Our beloved Luna was very well cared and she sent us lots of pictures and updates multiple times per day. Luna was super happy and we were very relieved to see her to be with great company! Very recommended, we will totally work with her again.”

“I almost hate to write this, because Karen may get so busy that I won’t be able to book her! I can’t say enough good about her. Probably the best part was that she had my really anxious/antisocial pup relaxed in no time—and it was July 4. Fireworks going off all the time. Karen sent me updates and pics of both dogs on a regular basis. I do believe my house was cleaner than when I left it. Karen even contacted me for pooper scooper info. Wonderful energy. She is “the dog whisperer.””

“I can’t say enough good things about Kim. She asked a lot of great questions, shared updates and kept in contact while we were away and we came home to a happy pup! I would completely recommend Kim and absolutely book her again in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Novelty
Alina was the perfect fit for our family. The two dogs immediately felt safe and comfortable with her. Her spirt is kind and the like all dogs they knew she was loves animals. She took them for their regular walks and took them on an adventure to the park. The biggest testimony to her pets sitting is that the dogs were calm, happy, and napping after she left. She has the vibe!

We sent the whole pet sitting guide we've created over his life so far and she read it! We couldn't be happier with our experience! Our elderly dog has some vision and hearing challenges, so finding someone we truly trust with him isn't easy — but she was absolutely wonderful with him. She took exceptional care of him, was easy to communicate with, and we felt completely at ease having her stay in our home. We'd highly recommend her to anyone, especially those with senior or special-needs pets. We'll definitely be booking again!

We highly recommend Sonoma. She is a great commutator. She sent artistic pictures of our dog multiple times a day, which was a delight. Our dog was so calm and happy when we returned. I felt comfortable and confident that our dog was in the best of company while we were away.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Novelty walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Novelty maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Novelty choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
