Chloe was a wonderful pet sitter! She took amazing care of our dog and our bunny while we were out of town. She was incredibly respectful of our home & space, and left everything in perfect condition. We appreciated her communication and updates with pictures of our pets! I would absolutely recommend her!

Abby was great with Harry! She showed real interest in getting to know Harry before her pet sitting even started, asking if we had and special instructions (which we do 😅). We sent the whole pet sitting guide we've created over his life so far and she read it! She was right on time, took Harry for a walk, played with him, and let him relax like he usually does during the day. She was so sweet with him and Harry had a great day with Abby! We also got so many fun pics and vids throughout their day together 😆

Our plans changed the day before we were scheduled to leave and we couldn’t bring our dog as planned, we frantically looked for a dog sitter and luckily we found Ethan! He was so wonderful with our dog Lucy while we were gone for a week. He took her for daily walks as we asked and kept in frequent communication with us about day to day activities, sending us pictures. He was neat and clean and respectful of our home. We came home from our trip to a very happy, well cared for dog. Thank you Ethan!

Barbara was fantastic! She did an amazing job taking care of our two dogs and aquarium. One of our dogs is very nervous around new people and by the end of Barbara's stay, the dog was comfortable with her. She provide updates daily and did not hesitate when any instructions were unclear. I will definitely book with Barbara again.

Kira was an amazing dog sitter! One of our dogs has separation anxiety, and Kira did a great job keeping her calm and cared for. They also asked a lot of great questions to make sure they had all of the information they needed about our dogs while we were gone. They sent us pictures of the dogs and gave status updates while we were gone which was really appreciated! They were very flexible with time too, I was able to book them with just a few days notice, and had to stay out later than expected which was no problem for them. Overall it was a great experience, our pups seemed very happy. Thanks Kira! <3

Julianne was a great house sitter / pet sitter for our kitty. She cared for him during a nearly 3 week vacation in May 2024. She stayed in communication with us throughout the trip and always gave me a sense that our cat was cared for with affection and love. Took great care of our house and yard which doesn’t require a whole lot but was a comfort while we were away. I especially appreciated that Julianne is retired and could really spend most of her time here. Highly recommended!

Magdalena was absolutely amazing, and we could not have asked for a better sitter for our two dogs. With only about a month’s notice, she was willing to take on a 10-night in-home stay for us, which immediately took a huge stress off our shoulders before our trip. Her communication throughout the entire vacation was incredible. She consistently kept us updated with pictures and videos, and it was obvious our dogs were happy, comfortable, and getting lots of attention and care. The night before we left, our senior dog unfortunately developed a hotspot from excessive licking, so we had to ask Magdalena last minute if she could help with medicated shampoo and spray treatments while we were gone. She handled it without hesitation and even offered to take him to the vet if needed. Thankfully the treatments helped a lot, but what really stood out was how genuinely concerned and caring she was about his wellbeing. She also went above and beyond helping around the house by watering plants, cleaning up after our senior dog’s accidents, and even throwing in a load of laundry for us. We came home to a house in excellent condition — dishes done, everything tidy, and two very happy dogs. It was also clear she spent plenty of quality time with them, running them around in the backyard and offering walks as well. We would absolutely trust Magdalena with our dogs and home again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone dependable, communicative, and truly caring.

This is the second time Marina has taken care of our elderly dog. The love and care she has given her are notable. Usually our dog does not like it when we leav but our last two experiences with Maryna have been much different than that! Our dog is happy and adjusted when we return home, and actually after she woke up this morning went to the room Maryna sleeps in to see if she was there! I cannot recommend Maryna enough. She is an authentic caring Dogsitter.

Claudia took amazing care of our pets and home while we were away for a long weekend -- especially our two seniors (13 year old German Shepherd and 23 year old cat), who came with a list of medication needs. Respectful of our property, prompt over the messaging app, and took thorough notes during the meet & greet. We'll definitely book her again!

I'm so pleased that my first experience through Rover was with Junbo. During our meet-and-greet, I was surprised by how quickly my pup felt comfortable with her. During my weekend away, Junbo kept in frequent contact with me through texts, photos, and videos. I had every confidence my pup was in good hands, and I'll definitely be contacting Junbo again for my next trip.

We couldn't be happier with our experience! Our elderly dog has some vision and hearing challenges, so finding someone we truly trust with him isn't easy — but she was absolutely wonderful with him. She took exceptional care of him, was easy to communicate with, and we felt completely at ease having her stay in our home. We'd highly recommend her to anyone, especially those with senior or special-needs pets. We'll definitely be booking again!

Georgia was awesome caring for our three small dogs for four days on short notice. She quickly learned the pups' personalities and became their best friend. It was great knowing our house/dog sitter wasn't just a warm body keeping them fed, but was happy to be part of their daily routine. Her daily photos were creative and brought us joy while we were on vacation. I'll be eager to book Georgia again the next time we need a house/pet sitter!

Alina was the perfect fit for our family. The two dogs immediately felt safe and comfortable with her. Her spirt is kind and the like all dogs they knew she was loves animals. She took them for their regular walks and took them on an adventure to the park. The biggest testimony to her pets sitting is that the dogs were calm, happy, and napping after she left. She has the vibe!

Leaving my cat and dog with Angela is the next best thing to personally being with them myself. She is attentive, caring, professional, and thorough. Angela spends quality time with my dog and cat. She always leaves our home spotless. My fur family and I are grateful when we have an opportunity to have Angela in our home.

FAQs for House Sitting - Novelty

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Novelty on Rover is $47.18 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 7,334 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Novelty. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Novelty walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Novelty maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Novelty choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Novelty. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
