“Barbara was fantastic! She did an amazing job taking care of our two dogs and aquarium. One of our dogs is very nervous around new people and by the end of Barbara's stay, the dog was comfortable with her. She provide updates daily and did not hesitate when any instructions were unclear. I will definitely book with Barbara again.”

“Jean is a kind, trustworthy and very knowledgeable fur baby and house sitter. After a year of not traveling and our previous Rover friend retiring, we all interviewed Jean. Our dog and 2 cats walked right up to her and we all knew that she was perfect. Jean stayed at our home for 5 days and updated us as needed. We have her scheduled fir more trips and are very happy to have found our new fur baby friend.”

“Chloe was a wonderful pet sitter! She took amazing care of our dog and our bunny while we were out of town. She was incredibly respectful of our home & space, and left everything in perfect condition. We appreciated her communication and updates with pictures of our pets! I would absolutely recommend her!”

“I almost hate to write this, because Karen may get so busy that I won’t be able to book her! I can’t say enough good about her. Probably the best part was that she had my really anxious/antisocial pup relaxed in no time—and it was July 4. Fireworks going off all the time. Karen sent me updates and pics of both dogs on a regular basis. I do believe my house was cleaner than when I left it. Karen even contacted me for pooper scooper info. Wonderful energy. She is “the dog whisperer.””

“Jennifer took excellent care of our dog, cats, and home while we were gone. She kept us updated with messages and pictures the whole time. We felt very comfortable leaving our fur babies in her care.”

“Zachariah was a pleasure to work with. Our two doggies instantly loved him! He has a kind demeanor and is a great communicator. We hired him for a 4 day stay over and he was responsible, respectful and clean. He sent us photos of our doggies every day and reached out when he had questions. We will be hiring him again in the future.”

“Lindsey was house sitting with our cat for 2 nights and we were really happy with the experience. Our cat gets stressed when we are away so finding someone who would give her attention and who we could trust was important to us. The meet and greet already gave us a good feeling. Lindsey asked great questions about the cat's routine and needs, you could tell she actually cares. While we were away she sent us regular updates and photos without us asking, which made it so easy to switch off and enjoy our trip. Knowing our cat was in good hands made a big difference. We came back to a happy cat and a clean house. Can't ask for more than that. We will definitely use Lindsey again and would recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter who genuinely cares about your pet.”

“Aeries did really good watching over my dog and 2 cats. I will definitely be bringing her back next time I leave. She was very attentive and gave me updates (pictures) daily. 💚 Really great service!”

“Erica was beyond amazing with our two furry friends! She kept us in the loop with constant communication and sent adorable photo updates while we were away! If you need a reliable person to look after your dogs and home during your absence, don't hesitate to contact Erica!”

“Brandy is always so kind and considerate, of us, Ace, and our home. We had a delayed flight and she stayed with our dog Ace way longer than originally planned. When we came home, very late, our house was spotless-Im talking dishes done and put away, laundry done and put away, floors and stairs vacuumed, sheets washed, dried, and bed made, and it smelled so good in the house! Brandy is a treasure for us, and we appreciate her more than I can express!”

About: Had cats and dogs since I was small, only really started taking care of them fully when I was about eight. Then we also had chickens who I loved dearly, and have since loved. Now I have been petting sitting word of mouth for a lot of people, taking care of large and small dogs, cats, cows, donkeys, chickens, goats and more! I love animals dearly and its a huge honor whenever someone lets me take care of their darlings. I am a graduate student who has an open schedule outside of writing work. Which I can do while taking care of your critters. My other responsibilities are too my baby sisters and making sure im not leaving the house empty. I love taking dogs on walks through the neighborhood and giving indoor cats the play time they desire. I always clean up after any messes and can do more if the client desires. For large animals I will do mucking, brushing and other chores you might need. I will only let dogs off leash in fenced dog parks, otherwise we walk together and enjoy the woods. Animal boundaries make a lot of sense to me so I'm good at giving animals space when they need it. Grumpy cats end up being my friend more times than not.
“Kalyn was a wonderful dog/house sitter for our two Ausiedoodles while we were out of town. She’s great with communication, dependability and animal behavior/handling. We have a dog with special needs and she was respectful and thoughtful with his specific care instructions. I look forward to Kayln watching our dogs and house again.”
“Wow! Bucky and I are so happy and relieved we found Magdalena to take care of him during our recent trip. She is an extremely thoughtful and involved person who understood our concerns leaving our dear boy home. Over our time away she sent photos and messages letting us know how Bucky was doing, that he was adjusting and playing, eating well, enjoying walks, all the things happy doggies do. Of course we missed him but also knew he was having fun exploring her forested yard. Without hesitation we recommend Magdalena to any caring pet parent!”

“Jessica was terrific! She paid close attention to the needs of the dogs and really delivered well for their care. I appreciate her being so responsible and would certainly use her again as the need arises.”

“This is the second time we have booked Claudia to watch our pups and it was just as awesome as the first. She is very good at assessing how much communication is just right and made all of her updates exciting and informative. We had a bit of an accident with one of our pups and she handled it like a true professional, informing us every step of the way, and made sure we had every opportunity to make decisions for our pup. We highly recommend her and we completely trust her with our dogs and our home.”

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs for about 7 years now. I have taken care of many different kinds of dogs as well as cats. I am currently unemployed home for the summer from college. I have a couple trips planned this summer but other than that I can watch or walk animals whenever. I can easily handle animals when walking them or getting them in their crates at home. I pay attention to animals body language and make sure I do what’s best for them.
“Thanks Syd for taking such good care of our paw kids. I could tell Billyblue missed you last night as he just wanted to sleep in your room. I appreciate all that you did. Those long walks and Billyblue is your fan. 🐾🤍”

Morgan was outstanding! Our Pug has a lot of anxiety and I could tell when we got home that she was happy and content. We received several pictures and updates while we were away as well. It was also a great pleasure to have our home left clean and tidy. We will definitely use Morgan again!

Teresa was fantastic! She was excellent with communication, made sure we had plenty of photos, was incredibly loving with our dog Bailey, and even took the addition of our tortoise on stride. Despite meeting ahead of time, Bailey was uncertain when Teresa showed up for the weekend, but Teresa was patient and worked the pivot to help our crybaby adjust in her own time. Definitely recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Echo Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Echo Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Echo Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
