About: My name is Ivette and I currently study at Case. My husband is a USPS mail carrier and I work from home. Currently, I have one dog and two rescue cats🐾. During the pandemic, I spent a significant amount of time with my pets indoors where I had the opportunity to take care of two litters that my dogs had. I learned many skills during that time. With age, my dog became a senior dog and had to take oral medication so I am used to giving oral/topical medication to pets. I have been living in the Cleveland area since 2019 but I am originally from Texas. My current home has a fenced back yard and a good route for walks. Julien was very kind and respectful, but I do wish he communicated more. I let him know at drop off and explained in the care notes for our dog that she sometimes resource guards her food, and what to do if that happens. He said he would message if he needed anything, so I assumed all was well when no messages came through. She had some food left in her kennel with her when he left for the store, and when he returned, she was growling and resource guarding. Scary - I get it. I totally understand being afraid to get near her kennel when she’s like that, but I wish he would’ve told us this was happening. We could have talked him through exactly what to do in that situation, but instead she stayed in her kennel for about 24 hours. Again, I totally understand the fear and hesitance, but communication could have prevented her from not being able to eat, drink, or relieve herself for an entire day. She’s been through a lot, and it honestly sucked to find out she had been left like that when we picked her up. I do believe Julien is a very good and responsible person, and he is deserving of trust when caring for animals. Communication is all that he needs to work on, and I trust that he will move differently moving forward.
