“Very communicative! She constantly made us feel like our babies were very well taken care of :) It was our first time leaving our puppy overnight and Marlene really went above and beyond to make sure we knew our girl was ok. Will absolutely have her watch our fur babies again!!”

“Alexis was prompt and followed all of my instructions. She sent photos almost daily and Blake looked comfortable and happy. I think he warmed up to her right away which is a great thing. She was neat and tidy and left my house just the way it was when we left. I would have her come back again if we need someone to watch him again.”

“Outstanding service and in-home care of multiple pets (two dogs and two cats)! Courtney was very attentive to our pets' needs, including giving daily pills to one of our cats. All our pets flocked to her with the attention she gave them. One of our cats slept nearly on top of her head every night. Courtney was the perfect choice as she has a mobile office and is a 'stay-at-home' care-giver!”

About: I have always had pets in my home, like dogs and/or cats, when I was in highschool many family friends and neighbors trusted me to pet sit for them while they would be away for a week or two. I would stay and play with the pets, feed them, and provide fresh water every day, go on walks, and keep in touch with the owners. I am in college and I work in a lab that cares for crested geckos where I feed them, and look at their environment levels (e.g. humidity) to make sure they are healthy! Caring for animals always brightens my day and I would be happy to care for your furry (or not) babies whether you are at work, or going on a trip! For the summer I am not in school, but I am doing participating in my lab for internship credits with this my schedule is pretty open on weekends and weekdays so I would be able to spend time with your pets however long they want or need! I would be able to do home visits, including drop-ins, staying etc. Whatever you feel comfortable with. I would follow what your pet needs like what kind of food, if there is any medications, any kinds of routines they have, etc. What I provide will depending on what the pet needs, like if they are an older dog or a couch potato I can do a slow walk or just chill and be a couch potato. Or if they are a very active pet I will dedicate play time or outside time. I would also be in contact with the owner if anything alarming occurs or even just a picture of your pet.
“Anna did an outstanding job house sitting and taking care of my dog, Apollo. From the start, she was communicative, reliable, and clearly experienced with animals. Apollo can be a bit particular, but Anna handled everything with patience and care—it was obvious he was comfortable and well looked after. She kept the house in great shape, followed all instructions, and gave me peace of mind while I was away. It’s not easy trusting someone with both your home and your dog, but Anna made it effortless. I’d absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and thoughtful house sitter. I’ll definitely be reaching out to her again in the future.”

“Cara is an excellent sitter and made my first experience with Rover a great one. We received photo and video updates our our dogs throughout the duration of our travel and she is very responsive to text messages. She was able to make mid-day trips to care for our puppy who is on a more frequent eating and potty schedule. Cara was even flexible with her own vacation schedule to ensure our pets were cared for upon our return. I highly recommend Cara. She will be the first person I contact for future pet sitting needs.”

“Amy was fantastic watching Winry! She was super communicative, sent photos, and made sure to keep us informed about anything going on (all good stuff). I look forward to using Amy in the future and I encourage you to as well!”
“This is my second time using Alyssa to watch my young rescue dog Jed. He's a handful and she is the dog whisperer!! She brings along blankets, helps train him, always is on time and communicates regularly. I'll use Alyssa anytime!!”

“Reanna pet sat our German Shepherd over a four day weekend. She provided timely updates, photos and took great care of our aging senior shepherd. We are very comfortable with having Reanna pet sit in the future. We came home to a happy girl.”

About: I have had dogs for most of my life, but love animals in general. I have a special bond with animals, and sometimes feel I understand them better than humans, lol. I am also an active person and love going on walks/hikes with my canine friends. Extra bonus: I am a groomers well, baths, nails trim, partial grooming, and full grooming. I can be somewhat flexible with my schedule, which allows me to work with yours. Let's work together to ensure that your babies are well cared for in your absence! It's one thing to have someone feed and walk your pet/s, but quite another to have someone genuinely care for them. I'm that person...look forward to working with you. Thanks I work at home most of the time, my time it’s very flexible. I have two aussiedoodle is at home, their are very friendly and social. I have a to Aussiedoodle’s at home, they are 20 pounds each, both are girls. Have a doggie door for them to go out doing their privacy
“Caitlin was wonderful with our fur baby!! She kept us updated through out our entire trip with pictures and videos. She was on time and very professional. She will be our go to girl for all future trips. I would highly recommend Caitlin for any family or friends in the area!”

About: I will love your pets the way I loved mine. I recently lost my two miniature schnauzers, Fiona and Toughy, after 15 and 16 beautiful years together. That kind of love doesn’t go anywhere. It just gets poured into every pet I have the privilege of caring for. I’m based in Chevy Chase and available for pet sitting and drop-in visits. Since I don’t drive, I keep my focus close to home, which means your pet (and your home) gets my full, unhurried attention. I know what it means to hand over your keys and your baby to someone. I treat every home I enter with the same care and respect I’d want for my own. You’ll always know what’s going on. I communicate, I notice the little things, and I don’t cut corners. Your pets aren’t clients to me. They never have been. About your pet: Tell me their quirks, their routine, what makes them feel safe. That’s the stuff that matters most to me. In the midst of my flexible work-from-home routine, I have ample availability on both weekdays and weekends, I'm not just a pet caregiver, I'm a companion for your fur babies. Whether it's daily walks or playtime, I ensure your babies receive the love and attention they deserve. Your pets are not just clients; they're family. Let me make your life easier and their tails wag happier! 🐾 Creating a safe and trusting environment is a top priority in both my personal and professional life. In addition to consistent care, attention to their needs, and open communication with pet parents, it's not just about feeding and walking; it's about creating a haven where pets can feel safe and happy.
“Paola was absolutely AMAZING! Our dog is getting older and is hard to leave. She gave us peace of mind while we were out for the day. She took excellent care of Pedro and our home! We received plenty of updates, photos, and videos. I would highly recommend Paola! She is kind and trustworthy. Thank you again Paola!”

“Natalie did an awesome job with my furry babies Jax and Madison! She stayed in communication with me the entire time and sent pictures of the furry babies as well, I would definitely book with Natalie again!”

We had an amazing experience. From the moment we met, we felt completely at ease. Communication was excellent. We came home to relaxed, happy pets and a home that was exactly as we left it. We’ll absolutely will be booking Hannah again. We couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Aimee is amazing!! She was so great with my Shih Tzu, Bailey!! She was so accommodating. My trip was last minute and unexpectedly had to be extended an extra day and she was wonderful about it! Bailey is scared of storms and unfortunately there was some bad weather while I was away. She made sure he was comfortable, calm, and safe. She sent regular updates and adorable pics of Bailey! She took excellent care of my plants and my house in addition to my little guy! I already have her booked for another stay in September. I highly recommend her!

I had a wonderful experience with Anna! She took great care of my older dog, Holden, and my home while I was away. She was incredibly communicative, sending regular updates and photos that gave me peace of mind. It was clear she was kind, patient, and genuinely sweet with Holden. I came home to a happy dog and a well-cared-for home. I would definitely book with her again!

Kailyn was excellent with my two dogs during a weekend overnight stay. She walked them daily and did a great job keeping them occupied, happy, and well cared for. She even went above and beyond by helping watch a third dog, our friend’s pup who was visiting from out of town for a night. We’ll definitely be using Kailyn again moving forward. Highly recommend!
This was our first time using Rover and we were so impressed with Julia’s exemplary service. We were camping at Fort DeSoto and needed someone to check in on our Yorkshire Terrier while we took the ferry to Egmont Key. She took great care of him and provided lots of updates. I highly recommend booking with her!
Emily was a great sitter! It’s always a bit nerve wracking to let someone you’ve never met into your home to watch your fur babies while you’re not there. Once I met Emily, I was immediately put at ease. She is professional, attentive, friendly and obviously loves dogs. I have 3 high maintenance Golden Retrievers and she did a great job greeting them which is always overwhelming. She was punctual and sent me a picture of her giving my epileptic dog his medicine, as I requested. I felt comfortable with her in my home and will definitely invite her back to watch my dogs. Thank you Emily!

Rob was fantastic in every way and a HUGE relief for us traveling for two weekends recently with a fairly new puppy at home. Rob was super responsive, kept in constant communication while we were away, and left our house better than we found it both times. Even gave our older dog a bath twice without us asking after he had a bit of an accident on himself. We highly recommend Rob and will absolutely be repeat clients!

Alexandria took wonderful care of my senior dog, Trina , as well as Prince, my energetic boxer, and Lucy, our cat. She was very attentive, kept me well updated, and made sure I always knew how things were going. I really appreciated the regular updates and especially loved receiving pictures of my pets it gave me so much peace of mind. I would absolutely recommend Alexandria and would happily use her again.

We are so grateful to have found Julie! From the moment we booked, they were incredibly communicative and thoughtful - checking in regularly, sending detailed updates, and sharing the sweetest photos that truly put our minds at ease. They went above and beyond in every way - making sure our pets were not only well cared for, but also happy, comfortable, and loved while we were away. Julie’s attention to detail and reliability made all the difference. We came home to relaxed, happy pets and a home just as we left it.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Tierra Verde walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Tierra Verde maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tierra Verde choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
