“Aivy was great with my pups! She was very attentive and cared for them as I would hope someone would. I would definitely recommend her and look forward to working with her in the future :)”

“Denise was incredible with our Bentley boy! She accepted our last minute booking (on Labor Day weekend) and sent us updates everyday. We definitely recommend Denise and look forward to having her watch our puppy again. :)”

“Aralee was great with our pups while we were out of town for 5 days! She sent us at least one update per day with pictures which we loved seeing. They were their happy, normal selves when we got home, and our home looked just as we left it. Would 100% recommend and hope to have Aralee watch our pups again in the future!”

“Great sitter. Helped me when another sitter backed out at the last moment. She communicated with me the whole visit. I would definitely recommend her again and book her.”

“Samantha and Sydney were absolutely wonderful! They kept in constant communication with us and sent regular updates throughout the day about how our pets were doing, which gave us so much peace of mind. We couldn't be happier with the care they provided, and we would absolutely trust them to look after our furry babies again. Highly recommended!”

About: **TWO ON SITE DOG PARKS FOR YOUR AMAZING DOGS** I have 15 years of experience caring for a variety of dogs, and have successfully completed several Rover bookings to date. Here is some information about me: I am an extremely active person. When I’m not in the gym, you can find me on several hiking trails around DFW. I have lots of experience with big dogs and understand the importance of giving them the attention an exercise they need! I’m also a movie lover, so I’m no stranger to the furry friends who just want to spend time cuddling up on the couch! There’s not a dog I can’t get along with, and I love caring for pets. I am available for any bookings, any time. Monday-Sunday, morning and night I am here to accommodate your schedule and needs! I am also able to be home most of the day to avoid leaving dogs alone. I know how important it is to be mindful and pay attention to dogs! I treat them with love and respect, allowing them to roam and adjust to their new space. I treat the dogs I watch like they are my own and give them lots of love. Safety and attention are everything to me! Your pets will be in good hands.
“I love Lana. She did a very professional job. My husband and I were using another lady who was not available for our vacation this summer. We fly to meet family once a year for a reunion. I had little time to find someone who I trusted staying in our home with our 2 dogs. We were flying to a location that was far enough away to want assurance that all would be fine. She did the job! And it be our go to sitter from now on. Thank you, Lana!”

“Hannah did an excellent job while we were out of country. While we were gone, our dog has some health issues and Hannah took the lead to have him taken care of at the vet. She was quick to always keep us up to date with everything that was going on during the time we were away. We would highly recommend Hannah to anyone who is looking for a sitter.”

“We have used Tanja for some time. She's always reliable, on time, and our pups love her. He sends photos without fail and always make sure our pups get the same attention we would give them.”

“Amazing sitter! Took my request last minute and became very close with my rather shy cat in a short time. I was so worried this was my first time getting a sitter but it went super smoothly my kittie was super happy and loved and Mackenzi was comfortable with me checking in periodically on my cat cam which made me feel much more safe we also met beforehand which brought some comfort as well. Will 100% use her as my only sitter in the future. :)”

“She was great with the dogs. My dogs were terrors and decided to tear stuff up and had an accident but she helped out and cleaned up and blocked the stairs and everything so I could enjoy my vacation. She did great letting the dogs out and feeding them and giving them some time and attention. Would definitely recommend.”
About: I've had pets most of my life from fish to rabbits, cats and dogs. I currently have an 18 year old cat who requires some extra attention and I know how difficult and stressful it can be to go out of town with a senior pet. I know pets are a part of the family and miss you when you're gone! I have two years of pet sitting experience and would be more than happy to care for your fur baby while you're away. I currently work part time and don't have a strict schedule at home so I am able to provide multiple visits a day if needed. I have a small backyard but a relatively large greenbelt on the other side of my fence so taking pets outside for play or potty.
About: I've had 4 dogs myself from puppies until 14 years of age. I've been through puppy training and obedience training with 3 of my dogs. I love playing with them and making sure they get the exercise they need. I love dogs and they love me. If I could rescue and care for all the dogs in shelters and pounds I would just so they would know what love is. I'm a major dog lover I am currently working full time at Target, five days a week. My days off vary week to week but I do get my schedule three weeks in advance. Most of my shifts are from 11:00am-6:30/7:00pm and one or two closing shifts of 1:30/2:00pm-10:00pm I have a fenced yard with plenty of space for your dog to run around and play. I have two teenage children who will help care for and love on your dog.

Suzane was instantly adored by our two dogs. She was accommodating, kind, and eager to help, quickly making friends with them. She treated our home with great respect and left it in perfect condition. Both the dogs and our kitty loved her, and so did we. I felt completely confident during the entire two weeks we were away. We’ll definitely ask for her again.

Melissa was so helpful and reliable when I asked her to help watch my dog Blue 🐶. She was very friendly and super sweet towards my dog, I knew he would be in good hands when I was out of town. She sent me lots of pics and regular updates. I will definitely be reaching out to her again! 😊

Hannah is the ABSOLUTE BEST!! If you want the most loving, caring, sweetest person watching your fur baby- she is the ONE. There aren't enough good things to say about her. She took such good care of our Golden. Loved on him just like he was her own- sent us daily pictures and was in constant communication with us. She is one in a million and you will be so lucky to have her help you!!

Manda was fantastic with our babies. Great communicator through out the stay. She even came early in the week when a friend of ours got the dates wrong and she ran over and checked on the dogs. She came over for a meet and great and our dogs loved her immediately. It’s very apparent she is great with animals. We are very pleased and excited that we found a sitter that is so good with our babies. We highly recommend Manda just don’t take her when we need her.😀

Samantha and Sydney were absolutely wonderful! They kept in constant communication with us and sent regular updates throughout the day about how our pets were doing, which gave us so much peace of mind. We couldn't be happier with the care they provided, and we would absolutely trust them to look after our furry babies again. Highly recommended!

Angelica was very prompt in all her responses. She came for a meet and greet and is very pleasant person. She followed all directions that I had requested her to do. She updated everyday. She is very teliable. My pet was happy! We will definitely rebook Angelica again! Thank you Angelica!

I am so reluctant to say good things on here because my animals need Ryan to be available. Ryan you give me such peace of mind when I am away. You always leave the space better than you found it. Thank you so much for accommodating my crazy and for loving them while I’m away.

Haley is the best sitter we have had! She takes the time to meet and understand your dogs’ needs first. I really appreciate all the updates she provides-videos, photos and messages so you know what is going on with your babies. She is extremely kind to my dogs and communicates very well. Highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred The Colony walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in The Colony maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in The Colony choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in The Colony. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
