“I was staying in an Abnb so my dog was highly anxious being in a new place. Aivy was wonderful dropping in on him for a few visits over a long weekend. Photos and updates for every visit was great! Won’t hesitate to have Aivy again the next time we visit!”

“Laurinda was so great. I have a cat with asthma, diabetes, and chronic upper respiratory problems. She was able to accommodate a last minute booking for my very special cat that needs inhaler treatment, insulin, and nose drops twice a day. She handled him with so much care and love. Thank you so much for taking care of my very special boy.”

“I can’t say enough great things about Kelli! They took care of my three dogs—each with their own unique needs—and absolutely went above and beyond. From the start, communication was prompt, clear, and reassuring. Kelli kept me updated with regular photos and messages, which really helped me relax while I was away. When I got home, the dogs were calm, happy, and clearly well-loved. It was obvious they had been cared for like family. The house was also spotless, and everything was exactly as I had left it! If you’re looking for someone responsible, kind, and truly passionate about animals, I wholeheartedly recommend Kelli. I will absolutely be booking them again!”

“Olivia did an amazing job taking care of my two cats. It was comforting to know they were in great hands while I was out of town. She provided updates and pictures and was overall great at communicating which kept me from any worry! I will definitely book Olivia again in the future. Highly recommend!”
About: I have had a heart for the four legged friends since I could walk. From a round of tug of war to running around the backyard to cuddling on the couch, it brings me joy to make animals feel loved. I am a teacher so I do have a teacher schedule throughout the week but I am home earlier most days (by 3:30 or 4:00). Your pet is free to lounge freely in the house while we are gone unless you have crate trained them and would like them put in their crates. We have a large house with no carpet and tile/wood throughout in case of any accidents. We do have a small dog (who can lounge with your furry friend and who is also crate trained) as well as a cat-who minds her own business most of the time. Our children LOVE dogs and are great at playing and helping your furry friend get lots of exercise. We have a fully fenced yard. Crates during the day or lounging around the house is completely up to you. We have a cat who minds her own business and doesn’t mind dogs. Our dog Sherlock is the friendliest most playful little terrier who just loves making friends with everyone!
“Sarah is amazing! She is professional, timely and cared for our cats as if they were her own. She got our older cat to take her pill and was through in inspecting our house for damages from the kitten. Sarah is considerate and asks questions during her meet and greet. Hands down one of the best pet sitters we have ever had.”
“Aubrey was the first person we ever used with Rover - she basically helped us raise our little guy from 3 months to 5 months old doing drop in visits. She was always on time, thorough, and above all — our Golden absolutely adored her!”

“Lindsey was wonderful with my three kittens, who were raised feral but are quickly becoming little purr machines. She clearly took great care of them — they were well fed, their litter was clean, and they had plenty of water. When I got home, they were relaxed and happy, and started purring the moment I touched them. I highly recommend Lindsey and will definitely use her again when the need arises.”

About: Now living in a house with a BIG backyard! I have had pets my whole life. I have experience with a variety of dog breeds and currently have a sweet 7 year old golden boy! We love walks and going to the park and cuddling. I am able to give medications as needed. I work a few minutes from home and am able to come by at lunch as needed. I am home in the evenings and often take a walk before or after work. I live in a house with a nice big backyard for playtime! Walking trails are nearby for nice walks. I am a loving and comforting caregiver and will provide your pet with all of the love and attention they need!
About: I am a very active college kid home for summer looking for a job to make some extra cash! I have pet-sit for my friends and family for years, and I trained my dog since he was a puppy. I will gladly help your less leash trained pups, dogs that pull, or high energy pups! I'm currently home for summer break from Texas State University. Other than the two vacations I have planned, I am free all summer to walk your pups! I am a very responsible dog walker, I leash trained my dog myself when I was 12. Additionally I do CrossFit so I don't mind dogs that pull or are high energy.
“We needed a dog sitter last minute and Kathleen came to the rescue!! She was so accommodating in meeting quickly and doing a meet and greet with our dog Riley who instantly enjoyed her presence. Kathleen is also such a great communicator! She sent 13 photos and left a note about her visit. We honestly lucked out with Kathleen as she’s also very nurturing/caring with Riley’s health needs. We highly recommend her and will be using her again in the near future!”

About: What makes me different from other dog sitters is the personalized care and genuine connection I build with every dog I meet. I don’t just follow a routine I take the time to understand each dog’s unique personality, needs, and quirks. Whether it’s an energetic pup who loves long walks or a senior dog who needs a gentler pace and extra attention, I tailor every visit to make them feel safe, loved, and happy. Pet care is a natural and fulfilling part of my daily routine. I structure my day around consistent visit times, walks, feeding schedules, and play sessions to ensure each pet gets the attention and care they need. I have a cat tree for cats makes them feel safe and comfortable and also a dog park near me for any dogs whose energetic!
“Destani was very responsive to messages and always made sure to respond very quickly. She did a great job watching our cat while we were away and made sure to send pictures and give updates with every visit. I was thankful to have her as a pet sitter, she even made sure to keep up with the scheduled visits despite a tropical storm happening! I will definitely book her in the future when needed.”

“Samantha and Sydney did an AMAZING job taking care of our two cats! This was our first time to use someone in a new home, so we were a bit anxious about how it would go. We could not have asked for better people to care for our cats! We got tons of pictures and an extensive write up every day of our trip, putting us at ease that they were in good hands. Not only did they do the basics, but we really got the feeling that they care about our pets and looked forward to seeing them everyday. 10 stars!!”

“Firstly, I really appreciated the Rover app. It was so easy to choose our provider and Marisa responded immediately. She came to our home the same morning to meet our dogs and discuss our needs. Marisa routinely gave me updates and sent pictures of our dogs throughout the time we used her services. Our home was kept perfectly neat and the dogs were happy when we returned home. We will absolutely use Marisa in the future and have told others about our experience with Rover. Vickie Krolikowski”

I’ve trusted Mahmooda with my cat at my home multiple times when away and look forward to more in the future. She is great at communicating and sending lots of pictures and videos (more than any other sitter!). She’s also great at leaving the space as is. I wouldn’t trust anyone over her!

It was our first time using the app and we have a kitten that we just got that is only about two months old, plus our nine year old dog who takes medication daily, so I was nervous! But Aivy was amazing! She took the BEST pictures of the animals too. Overall great experience.

Melanie is so amazing and sweet! She went above and beyond taking care of our dog and cat. As first time Rover users, we realized very quickly that we had nothing to stress about leaving our babies with her. We will definitely be booking with her again, thank you Melanie!!

Samantha is absolutely WONDERFUL. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to come home from our trips to a clean home and happy pups. Samantha is communicative, responsive, and sincerely makes you feel like taking care of your fur babies is her pleasure. Will definitely continue using her services!

Summer was amazing with my cat Tofu! She communicated with me often, sent proof of fresh water, litter cleaning, and even reported when he pooped and peed. She also went above and beyond and helped us vacuum our room and bathroom because of the litter tracked. My cat doesn’t like anyone else besides me, but he warmed up to Summer after two days and came out to greet her and gave her kisses. I am definitely booking again when I go out of town!

Ella was amazing with my cats! She was communicative and even offered to come meet my cats before watching them which made me feel a lot more comfortable leaving them with her. She sent lots of pictures and updates, and fulfilled my special requests! I will definitely be using her again in the future! Thank you Ella!!

I highly recommend Ember if you’re looking for a pet sitter who will provide a great experience. She was so great with my cats and updated me how they were doing each time she stopped by. My instructions were followed thoroughly and Ember left everything so tidy. It was very refreshing to come home to well taken care of pets and see my home just as I left it. Huge thank you to Ember!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in The Colony. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
