“Kseniia and her husband were excellent. They sent photos and videos throughout the stay. It was obvious our little guy was very comfortable with them and they took great care of him. They were also in a very convenient location and answered our texts immediately. We will definitely be booking again.”

“Never having left Roo, Matzoh and Tony with anyone, we were a bit nervous. But we were sent pictures daily with updates and upon picking them up, it was obvious that they were well taken care of and very happy!”

“Christine was a lovely host for Bode’s week of summer camp. She was quick to reply, lovely to speak with, but most importantly seemed to really care about Bode’s wellbeing and happiness. She has a huge fenced in yard that he had free reign to, and a lovely in ground pool. We will absolutely book with her again!”

“Katherine did an amazing job with Boone. He was well rested and not anxious at all when I picked him up. She was very flexible and communicative during his stay. I was very happy!”

About: Lifelong dog lover with plenty of availability for long morning walks. I am a current medical student with a flexible schedule, available for last‑minute walks or overnight stays for the right family. I look forward to getting to know you! I’m a first‑year medical student currently on summer vacation, which gives me plenty of free time throughout the week. I’m available for both morning and afternoon walks, depending on what your dog needs. My days are flexible, so I can easily fit regular weekly walks or occasional check‑ins into my routine. I care for pets in their own home so they can stick to their normal routine. I handle feeding, walks, and any instructions you leave, and make sure your dog gets steady attention throughout the day. My focus is keeping things calm, consistent, and comfortable for your pup.
“Emily, Kieran, and their lovely dog Leon are absolutely amazing. They took fantastic care of my pup Sally and made her feel like she was part of the family. They’re communicative, thoughtful, and absolutely rockstar sitters. Thank you!”

“Justin was fabulous with our boy Seamus! He took Seamus on many hikes and walks with his precious dog Lulu and sent pictures and videos everyday. Justin went above and beyond for Seamus and even took him for a pup cup and gave him a bath. Seamus was beyond well cared for - he became a welcomed member of Justin's family. Would highly recommend Justin to care for anyone's pets - he was wonderful!”

“Stefany was amazing. She accepted my last minute request and responded to all my messages very quickly. She gave me lots of updates and bonded immediately with my dog, even though he can be picky about people sometimes. Would recommend for anyone who needs a dog sitter in Maine!”

“John is amazing. Our little Arlo is afraid of everyone (except John) He almost didn’t want to come home with us. He took such good care of him. He will always be my go-to. One thing, your pup may be lackluster the next day from the exercise he got and missing John.”

“Laney was perfect for us and our dog! She was extremely responsive as we set up our date for Happy's two-day stay, and we enjoyed meeting with her by video beforehand. She was so welcoming to Happy -- and us -- and she clearly loves being with dogs and knows how to put everyone at ease. She did a great job of introducing Happy to her two lovely dogs and to her human family. We were confident that Happy would enjoy herself at Laney's, and she did! We're looking forward to returning to southern Maine soon so Happy can stay with her again!”

About: I grew up dogs from the time I was little- labs, retrievers, shepherds- and had a special needs rescue dog with my partner for many years who lived to be fifteen. When she passed, my partner and I started boarding and house sitting regularly and have built up a pretty cute little pack. I am comfortable giving oral medication and upholding your dog’s schedule, house rules, and love to take field trips whenever possible. My favorite is when a dog can come with me everywhere, so smaller senior pups have become my specialty, but I can’t help but love all the dogs who come along. As a videographer and Maine youth basketball coach I have a lot of flexibility in my work schedule and spend a lot of time working from home editing videos. I’m fairly active, always happy to take breaks from work to walk around the neighborhood or find a pet-friendly beach to run around on. I’m in an apartment very close to Deering Oaks Park and the Western Prom. The apartment is a compact second story walk up and has been carefully maintained to keep it safe for curious noses.
“Joanna was absolutely wonderful. She cared for my little one as if she were her own, sending frequent photo updates that gave me complete peace of mind. It’s such a blessing to have her nearby: reliable, caring, and attentive. Highly recommend hiring her!”

“As always, Maizy enjoyed her time at Rachael’s. She basically went in her house and walked around for a couple minutes, then laid down. Ready to relax! We were able to visit friends in Boston knowing Maizy was being extra well taken care of. Thank you again, Rachael. See you soon for another upcoming weekend stay for our girl!!”
“Kymberly and Robert always do such a great job with my Mala. Mala is 15 years old now and has stayed with them many times. She always knows when I pack her travel bag that she will get to vacation with them, and she gets so excited! Ours dogs are family, and it can be hard to leave them, but I never have any concerns whatever when I leave Mala with Kymberly and Robert. They are my trusted sitters!”

Kelly was awesome! My dog Luna has only been with a sitter a few times and this was the longest. Kelly let us do a meet and greet first which we appreciated. We felt very comfortable with Kelly and Luna did too. The regular updates and pictures while we were gone really helped ease our minds. Kelly took her for lots of walks, car rides and even up to the lake. I think Luna had a great time! We will definitely use Kelly again. Highly recommend!

Joanna was amazing, always responded quickly to me and picked up my short notice boarding request quickly after another sitter canceled our booking! She sent me lots of updates and pictures so I knew Nova was in good hands and having a good time, and Nova seemed happy and relaxed when we picked her up. Unfortunately we are not from the area or else we would definitely use Joanna again! Would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter for their pup.

We recently were away on vacation and were very excited that our Maizy girl could go on her vacation at Rachael’s - again!! There is nothing like being away and knowing our furry girl is having as much fun as us. Lots of good walks & snuggles. As always, Rachael provided lots of photos through out Maizy’s stay. Maizy needs meds on a particular schedule & Rachael always follows through. Thank you Rachael for another fabulous vaca for our girl! See you soon!
Anne was very accommodating to last minute adjustments in my schedule when I needed to drop off and pick up my dog, Bee. She was prompt in updating me on how Bee was settling in and getting along with her dog. Anne provided a comfortable place for Bee to spend a couple of days - I’d definitely rebook with her in the future!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ME ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
