“John is amazing. Our little Arlo is afraid of everyone (except John) He almost didn’t want to come home with us. He took such good care of him. He will always be my go-to. One thing, your pup may be lackluster the next day from the exercise he got and missing John.”

“This was our first time using Heidi to take care of our pup, and it won’t be the last. Even with a houseful of dogs, she kept our anxious dog safe and separated from the others. Heidi seems to understand dogs really well which gave us confidence leaving her for two weeks while we were away visiting our daughters. We often feel badly that our dog doesn’t play well with others, but Heidi never made us feel that way. We absolutely recommend her!”

“This was our second time booking with Cassidy family, and once again we’re so grateful she was able to accommodate a last-minute request! It gave us real peace of mind knowing Lucky was in good hands. She sent photo updates throughout the stay, which we really appreciated. Her dog and children were both incredibly sweet and gentle with Lucky — it’s clear they’re a dog-loving household. We’re confident Lucky was well cared for and would happily book with her again!”

“Janice was wonderful. She accommodated us when we needed to make changes to our booking. She sent pictures and let us know how Sophia was doing. Sophia took to Janice immediately. She was exceptional in every way. We highly recommend her services.”

“Katherine did an amazing job with Boone. He was well rested and not anxious at all when I picked him up. She was very flexible and communicative during his stay. I was very happy!”

“Sadie's stay with Trisha and her family was fantastic. They accommodated a last minute change of schedule.Because sadie had eaten chocolate on the drive and we needed to deal with it before dropping her off. Tricia's dog and kids were all friendly and enjoyed having sadie. Sadie loved being there - Plenty of outdoor time and plenty of people time! Trisha was the best fit for Sadie with a dog sitter that we've ever found!”

“After our meet & greet, Shorty was so happy to go back to Vicky & Bobby's, he couldn't wait to get out of the car. They have a great house & awesome back yard perfect for dogs. Their dogs Magic & Brooklyn were great with Shorty, & he sometimes has problems with new dogs. Vicky sent me great pics every & really put my mind at ease, seeing Shorty livin the doggy life. Vicky even brought Shorty to work with her at the pet hospital where she works & I know he loved that. Travis, Bobby's brother was also really great & Shorty warmed up to him right away. Shorty is used to sleeping on the bed & they allowed that, and also figured out something yummy for him to eat when he wouldn't. I highly endorse Vicky & Bobby, & Shorty's looking forward to his next vacay!”

“Kym and Robert have taken care of our dog, Rosie, multiple times over the last couple of years. They are reliable, caring, and keep us updated with photos and messages while we are away. Rosie is always happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for when we return home. It gives us real peace of mind knowing Rosie is in such good hands. We would absolutely recommend Kym and Robert to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter.”

“Amanda and Austen were great with our 5 year old lab! We got regular updates and photos daily which was very appreciated. It felt like they truly loved our dog and treated him like their own. They really got to know him and his personality. They kept him busy and exercised with plenty of outside time!”

“Brittany agreed to watch my dog super last minute and was SO sweet with him! She house sat for me and left it spotless. I wish she’d sent more photo updates, but overall a great experience! :)”

“They were so fabulous!!! Watched my girl Winnie on my wedding night. They picked her up, dropped her off and were super flexible on what was a crazy day. Would definitely recommend!!!”

“Christina did a great job with Crosby. I trusted that he was well cared for and got lots of love and attention. Normally a very stressed out dog, he seemed very relaxed when I picked him up. We'll definitely use her again in the future.”

About: 35 years of experience caring for dogs, puppies, kittens & cats. I’m good with anxious dogs & scaredy cats. I have a flexible schedule, let me know how I can help. I am currently doing Rover full-time. For many years i have lived in homes with pets and helped care for them. Currently living in a home with 1 cat, 1 dog, and 12 chickens. We also do doggy day care and do boarding- so we keep pretty busy. I always walk dogs on their leashes. I make sure to keep medications and other harmful things locked away. We have a fenced in yard, but i’m always out there with them. I try to take as good care for your animals as if they were my own.

“Laney was perfect for us and our dog! She was extremely responsive as we set up our date for Happy's two-day stay, and we enjoyed meeting with her by video beforehand. She was so welcoming to Happy -- and us -- and she clearly loves being with dogs and knows how to put everyone at ease. She did a great job of introducing Happy to her two lovely dogs and to her human family. We were confident that Happy would enjoy herself at Laney's, and she did! We're looking forward to returning to southern Maine soon so Happy can stay with her again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ME ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
