“Carmen was kind and understanding with our dog. And overall just seems like a very nice person. She worked with us on dropoff and pickup and was pretty flexible. Figo seemed to have a lot of fun with her. She has a nice house and overall it seemed she lived in a dog friendly neighborhood so definitely recommend boarding with her.”

“Austin and her family were wonderful with my husky. Their whole family was able to play with Taz, the communication and pictures were great, and they live in a great spot for outdoor walks and playing.”

“Vicky did an excellent job taking care of Harriet. She took Harriet for lots of walks on nearby trails and sent us multiple photos over the weekend. I highly recommend Vicky!”

“Sridevi took wonderful care of my dog, Sasha. I had to book with her at the last minute because of a funeral and she could not have been more accommodating. Sasha was so content at her house in such a short period of time, I was very impressed. Sasha does not usually warm up to people so quickly, so I knew she was in good hands. 🐾”

“Diana was absolutely amazing with Nash! I can’t wait to use her services again! Nash went on plenty of walks her property is a dogs heaven. She sent so many pictures and updates! Truly the best possible experience!”

“Ziggy was well cared for and came back happy after another great stay with Kyle and Kaleigh. There were highly responsive and flexible with drop off and pick up times, etc. highly recommend!”

“They were so fabulous!!! Watched my girl Winnie on my wedding night. They picked her up, dropped her off and were super flexible on what was a crazy day. Would definitely recommend!!!”

“Alexandra did a great job watching my dog, Beanie. Beanie can take some time to warm up, but I could tell how comfortable she was when I went to pick her up - she acted like she didn’t want to leave! I also appreciated Alexandra’s updates and prompt responses. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a dog sitter in the area!”

“Connor was great with our dog Bolt! This was our first time going through the app, she made it very easy. We were bringing Bolt to a boarding place nearby but would always feel very on edge and worrying while on vacation. He would come home from the boarding place and his elbows were very rough and red and he would be so thirsty. I picked him up from Connor and he was fine, like he never left home. He was a little tired but that’s to be expected going to a new place. Connor’s house was clean and she has a very nice yard and large covered porch she sat under with him. She was easy to communicate with and flexible. As soon as I met her and she met my dog, I knew we were going to be good! I plan to bring him to her again soon and will continue to for as long as I can!”

“Molly took incredible care of our senior dog for 6 nights and 7 days. She communicated thoroughly, sent pictures, and loved on our dog like she was one of her own. Thanks so much Molly!”

“Our Saint Berdoodle, Hazel, spent three weeks with Karen and Steve while we were on an extended family vacation. We were so comfortable with her being in their care that it really improved our whole trip experience. We received lots of great photos and updates on how Hazel was doing and while we missed her, we knew she was in great hands. Karen and Steve are amazing and we are already discussing our next booking with them!”

I've had plenty of animals around since I was born & I've dog & cat sat for friends and family a bunch over the past 10+ years, from quick stop-ins for food & water to walks & overnight visits. Nothing brings me more joy than leaving an animal happy and tired from a great day together. I work from home, so I have flexible daytime availability to visit your pet. My work schedule fluctuates depending on what projects I'm working on, but I can always make time for a walk! Your pet's well-being will always be top of mind. I’m currently offering dog walking and check-ins. I would be walking your dog around the neighborhood or to the closest park for some much-needed fresh air! “Joanna is warm, caring, and knowledgeable. She agreed to meet before we left our anxious dog with her. We got photos and updates each day and met at mutually agreeable times. Joanna handled a tricky medication situation very well. We will certainly consider rebooking in the future.”

“Katherine did an amazing job with Boone. He was well rested and not anxious at all when I picked him up. She was very flexible and communicative during his stay. I was very happy!”

“Rachael was amazing with Maizy. Maizy vacationed with her for 8 nights. As promised, we received many pictures and updates daily. She was in tuned to how our girl was feeling and we could see the happiness on Maizy’s face in the pics. Rachel reached out with food questions when needed. We seriously could not have asked for a better vacation for our Maizy girl! Highly recommend Rachael! Hopr the secret doesn’t spread too fast so we can book Rachael again!”
“Elvis had an AWESOME time with Christine and I felt very comfortable leaving him with her. She frequently sent photos of him and he always looked comfortable and happy. I will definitely be bringing Elvis to Christine again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ME ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
