About: New to Rover but not new to caring for animals! I grew up on a farm with lots of animals - dogs, cats, goats, horses, rabbits, chickens, pigs... I've also informally pet sat for friends and neighbors with dogs and/or cats in the past. I've been a cat mom in the past, but I don't have a pet of my own right now. However, I would love to have a buddy come hang out with me while I work from home full time. My house is quiet and cozy and I have plenty of time to provide attention and affection! I work from home full time at a desk job - if my day is "busy" it just means I had a few more zoom calls than usual. I would absolutely be able to take time to provide potty breaks and maybe a walk around the neighborhood when the weather is good. I live on a main street in town, but there's also a nice quiet neighborhood right behind me with minimal traffic, perfect for a quick walk. I do travel three or four times a year for my job, generally for 3-5 days each time, but I'd be able to give you at least a couple of months advanced notice for those trips - they are never last minute! I don't smoke and I have plenty of space for your pup to hang out during the day so they don't feel cooped up - including a wrap around enclosed porch that I can keep secure, and a tall privacy-fenced back yard/garden area. While the yard is fenced, I do get birds and other critters roaming through, and I have a flower garden that could have some toxic plants for over-curious dogs. Because of that, I would not to leave them alone outside, but take those breaks with them. My house does have a fairly steep flight of stairs, so a dog without joint pain or struggles going up and down multiple times a day would be most comfortable. I do have lots of houseplants and some could be toxic - so again, if your dog tends to be curious and take a bite out of plants, I may not be the best fit!

With my pet care services, you will have: • Happy, safe and well-cared-for pets • A clean and orderly (tidy) home • Clear and timely communication • Regular and frequent updates (with photos and videos of your pets) • Reliable and dependable pet and home care As a recently-retired educator, I have a very flexible schedule, with plenty of time for your pets. I am available for daily walks, overnight or weekend house sits (your house or mine) and vacation sits (1-4 weeks is typical). When starting a new relationship with a client and their pet(s), I schedule a brief ‘pop over’ appointment where I can meet the animal(s) in the presence of their humans. This helps everyone involved – pets and humans – get to know me and feel comfortable with me before I take on the responsibility for the pet. I take care to be calm around the pets I sit - I let both cats and dogs take their time to warm up to me (come to me when they are ready, sniff my hands, my person, my things). I am careful when feeding animals - particularly dogs - giving them space. I follow the pet's routine - if they sleep on the bed, I let them sleep on the bed; if they like to go in and out frequently, I let them go in and out frequently. I try to make them as comfortable as I can, in their human's absence.

“After our meet & greet, Shorty was so happy to go back to Vicky & Bobby's, he couldn't wait to get out of the car. They have a great house & awesome back yard perfect for dogs. Their dogs Magic & Brooklyn were great with Shorty, & he sometimes has problems with new dogs. Vicky sent me great pics every & really put my mind at ease, seeing Shorty livin the doggy life. Vicky even brought Shorty to work with her at the pet hospital where she works & I know he loved that. Travis, Bobby's brother was also really great & Shorty warmed up to him right away. Shorty is used to sleeping on the bed & they allowed that, and also figured out something yummy for him to eat when he wouldn't.
