“Vicky did an excellent job taking care of Harriet. She took Harriet for lots of walks on nearby trails and sent us multiple photos over the weekend. I highly recommend Vicky!”

“Elvis had an AWESOME time with Christine and I felt very comfortable leaving him with her. She frequently sent photos of him and he always looked comfortable and happy. I will definitely be bringing Elvis to Christine again!”

About: Lifelong dog lover with plenty of availability for long morning walks. I am a current medical student with a flexible schedule, available for last‑minute walks or overnight stays for the right family. I look forward to getting to know you! I’m a first‑year medical student currently on summer vacation, which gives me plenty of free time throughout the week. I’m available for both morning and afternoon walks, depending on what your dog needs. My days are flexible, so I can easily fit regular weekly walks or occasional check‑ins into my routine. I care for pets in their own home so they can stick to their normal routine. I handle feeding, walks, and any instructions you leave, and make sure your dog gets steady attention throughout the day. My focus is keeping things calm, consistent, and comfortable for your pup.
“Stefany was amazing. She accepted my last minute request and responded to all my messages very quickly. She gave me lots of updates and bonded immediately with my dog, even though he can be picky about people sometimes. Would recommend for anyone who needs a dog sitter in Maine!”

“I'm only hours home from my trip, but made it my first priority after unpacking to review my experience with Trisha and Dan, who "pet-sat" our dog Piper this weekend. Piper is attached at the hip to my wife. He was a dog that was found abandoned on the street, abused, and has a bit of what we think us PTSD. He gets VERY nervous if you are not right at his side, cannot stay alone, etc. Unfortunately my cousin suddenly passed away and were needed a dog sitter so we could attend services out of state. Very nervous that it would be hard on Piper to be without us, (and knowing we couldn't put him a kennel-type environment with his anxious personality), we spent hours on DogVacay looking for the perfect host. Trisha got back to us within minutes (talk about professional!). She was so awesome and detailed, and we knew right then that Piper would be in good hands. Piper stayed with Trish and her husband in their gorgeous home in a safe, quiet neighborhood (with a fenced in backyard) for 2 days, and they were excellent at communicating with his. They're such good people- so kind and friendly and love animals. Piper is now home (though I'm not sure he wants to be!) I've said jokingly "Piper- Do you want to go back to Trisha, Dan, and Stout's house?" and his ears perk up and the tail starts wagging. They are the best of the best, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. We are forever grateful to them for taking Piper on such short notice and taking such good care of him!”

About: Animals have always been an important part of my life. I grew up with a cat who was much more than a pet—because I didn’t have any brothers or sisters, she was my best friend and constant companion. Later, after meeting my husband, who had a dog, I discovered how much joy dogs bring and how different, fun, and rewarding it is to spend time with them. Now that my own children are older and more independent, I finally have some time to do something I’ve wanted for a while: care for other people’s dogs. Spending time with animals truly makes me happy, and I would love to give your dog the same love, attention, and care that I would give my own. I’ve looked after dogs in my home and understand that every pet is unique. Some dogs love long walks and playtime, while others just want a quiet companion nearby. I’ll happily follow your dog’s routine and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. What really sets me apart is how much I genuinely care. I pay close attention to the little details, carefully follow your instructions, and treat every pet like family. I’ll also send regular photos and updates, so you’ll always know your furry friend is happy and well cared for. I currently work part-time, which gives me plenty of time to care for your pet. I’m available for afternoon walks during the week, as well as boarding. Your dog will have regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, and lots of attention throughout the day. I always do my best to follow your pet’s usual schedule, so they feel comfortable and at home while you’re away. My home is a safe, pet-friendly environment where dogs are treated like part of the family. They will have plenty of attention, regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, and a cozy place to rest. . My children are older. They’re gentle and respectful, and they’ll happily play with your dog if that’s something your dog enjoys. I’ll also send regular photo updates, so you’ll always know your pet is happy and well cared for.
“Amy was wonderful with my poodle, accepting the challenge to tire him out by the end of the day. She is courteous and easygoing, and has a large fenced in yard for the dogs to play. I would definitely hope to schedule with Any again.”

“Kymberly and Robert always do such a great job with my Mala. Mala is 15 years old now and has stayed with them many times. She always knows when I pack her travel bag that she will get to vacation with them, and she gets so excited! Ours dogs are family, and it can be hard to leave them, but I never have any concerns whatever when I leave Mala with Kymberly and Robert. They are my trusted sitters!”

“Katherine did an amazing job with Boone. He was well rested and not anxious at all when I picked him up. She was very flexible and communicative during his stay. I was very happy!”

“Finding someone that you can trust that will care for and love your fur baby as you do can be challenging. We were able to find someone and more in Robin. From the moment we started taking to the meet and greet to leaving Remy with her for a few days was fantastic. Her communication was excellent and fast right from the beginning. We weren't gone long before she was already sending pictures which is something we said we would take any time.. throughout our few days away we received many updates and pictures and from the pictures we could see that Remy was very happy and being cared and loved just as we do. Robin's compassion to take care of and spend time with animals is very clear. Remy even seemed a little sad after we picked him up and brought him home like he missed her and her fun dog Stella. We can't recommend Robin enough and we will definitely be using again!”

“Khaila took great care of our pup, Chuck! She sent us a little picture or video everyday which gave us a lot of peace of mind. 100% recommend and we will be working with her again!”

“Kseniia was amazing with our dog. It was his first time being away from us for an extended period of time and she went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable. He was def on high alter in a new place, but she was so patient with him! I also really appreciated the daily pics and videos and her patience with us as our flights got changed and cancelled multiple times.”

“Hannah was so great with Scout! Scout was a little nervous being in a new setting, but it was very clear how much Hannah went out of her way to make her feel more comfortable!”

“Rebecca is absolutely amazing !!! She has been more than helpful and accommodating. I wouldn’t have been able to take my vacation time if it weren’t for her . She takes the time and the love that you hope for in a pet sitter and exceeds all my standards. Loki felt very much so at home with her and her dog. Her Communication skills are also incredible, which made the vacation easy to enjoy knowing Loki was in such great hands.”

“Emily and Kieran were the best dog watchers! Their dog Leon is so chill and playful with our pup, Roscoe. They did two walks a day and outdoor play was easy with a doggy door. We received daily updates. So grateful to have Roscoe in good hands while we were away.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Windham
We have left our precious boy with Jennifer on several previous occasions. This time we left him for almost 2 weeks. I was happy and relieved to see that Max was very happy to see Jennifer and her lovely dog, Maya. This made it so much easier to leave him. Jennifer was wonderful in giving us updates twice each day along with photos and even a video. We could see that he was happy and content. I think he had as good a vacation as we did! I will rebook with Jennifer without hesitation.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ME ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
