About: Hi there! We’re Amanda and Austen, a couple based in Scarborough with a dog of our own (our Mini Aussie, Mazie) and a lot of love to share with yours. When Amanda’s not caring for her sweet group of five-year-olds or Austen’s not out playing tennis, we’re spending time with Mazie, chasing seagulls at the beach, hiking in the mountains, or snuggling up on the couch after a snowy play session. We love active days just as much as laid-back ones, and we’re happy to match whatever energy your pup brings. We both grew up in homes with animals- at one point, Amanda had five dogs and a cat! We have cared for dogs of all breeds and energy levels, from teacup-size rescues to large-breed couch potatoes, plus plenty of other animals over the years (including Sparkles the Bearded Dragon, Amanda’s current classroom pet). We live in a quiet neighborhood with a fully fenced-in backyard that dogs love to explore. Austen works from home full-time, so your pup will get plenty of attention throughout the day, and we share responsibilities depending on the care your pet needs. Whether it’s a weekend adventure, daily daycare, or a cozy overnight stay, we’re here to make your dog feel happy, safe, and loved. We offer care throughout the week and are happy to accommodate weekends, holidays, and special requests as our schedule allows. Austen works from home and provides consistent weekday care and supervision, while Amanda handles most weekend walks, drop-ins, and house sitting when needed. Between the two of us, your pet will never go long without company, playtime, or a potty break. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a last-minute trip, we’ll work with you to make sure your pup is happy and cared for. Our day care rate is based on an 8 hour day. We're happy to have your dog with us for longer, but we may ask for an additional fee based on the number of hours. We know how important it is to trust someone with your pet. That’s why we always begin with a meet-and-greet to ensure your dog is comfortable with us, and you’re confident in the care we provide. We take a gentle, respectful approach, especially with shy or anxious dogs, and we’ll always ask for your guidance on what makes your pup feel safe and secure. Whether we’re in your home or ours, we want to provide a low-stress, enriching environment with plenty of attention, structure, and love. We’re also happy to provide regular updates (with photos!) and check-ins during every visit or stay, so you’re always in the loop - because we’d want the same from someone watching Mazie.

About: Growing up with dogs all around was and continues to be a fun and deeply rewarding experience. I have cared for dogs (and cats, etc.) since I was a kid, and still often take care of family and friends' pets. Providing enrichment and engagement, anticipating and caring for needs, wrangling wily actors, managing space and time in a positive attitude, and thinking and acting flexibly, attuned to diverse and changing needs, are not only things required from a good dog walker - these are tasks I complete daily as a middle school teacher. I am available all day most Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with some availability on the weekends. During the school year, my availability will mostly be on the weekends, though I will be available during school breaks and holidays. As a dog walker, safety is the most important aspect. About: I work at The Bark Yard, a fear and force free doggy daycare and boarding facility, where I care for dogs daily in a positive, stress-free environment. I’ve grown up with small to extremely large dogs—mainly Boston terriers and Great Pyrenees—and have hands-on experience with feeding, medication routines, enrichment, and reading canine body language. I also personally own and care for a cat, so I’m comfortable providing attentive, gentle care for both dogs and cats. Pet care is already a regular part of my daily and weekly routine. I work hands-on at a doggy daycare and boarding facility, so caring for animals, following schedules, and reading behavior is second nature to me. At home, I care for my own cat with consistent feeding, litter maintenance, playtime, and observation. Because I do not book multiple animals at once, my calendar is filling up fast. My best advice for booking is to plan far ahead and if you’re a new client, please allow time for meet and greets. My family and I have a full setup just waiting to accommodate a pup in need of a stay. We have animal beds, toys, A yard (not fenced in) with a chain run and lots of neighborhood to walk in! We also have a disabled/elderly person in the home with so much love to give to animals with a need for more affection and who can ensure someone is with your furry friend if we need to run an errand. We love a dog park or beach run if that’s what your pup is into (though I reserve field trips for more well acquainted clients), and our car is well equipped with baggies and h2o bowls to make sure any trip is safe and fun.

About: I have worked with and cared for dogs all my life, and cats about half. I have trained dozens of dogs, even ones that have been “impossible”. I am a very active person and outside is better than in! Expect to get your pets back tired so you all can rest before you’re back at the grind. I love animals and visitors for my dogs and play partners for my own high energy levels. And as always, smiles and safety first. I don’t have a fenced yard, but I do have strong long leads, one attached to the porch (20feet) and one yard one, with a 250lbs resistant or weight limit, 50 feet long that allows dogs to safely visit and play outside in yard without wondering off. As well, a small empty dog park near by to play ball and “run free” and we frequent other dog parks. Right now I have a full-time job and just looking for a side gig doing something I love on the weekends. I love animals, even the quirky ones. Right now, just working on the weekends I’m available. I do have two small dogs at home that need to play, and love other pets. I can watch them at my home, bring them to the dog park or at your home, if I can bring my dogs with.

About: In the past, I had a Rottweiler German Shepherd mix who was 100lbs. His name was Huckleberry. I loved taking him on walks, grooming/brushing him, and giving him lots of pets. My friends also hired me to take care of their dogs who ranged in different breeds and sizes. I also love taking pictures of all animals. You're sure to get some pretty pictures of your pooch! I am currently working part-time at The Maine Mall and have some free time to help out as much of the Portland dog loving community as possible. Dogs make me happy and feel good about what I do! I make sure your pet(s) are cared for by giving them plenty of water on walks, making sure they are not acting out of the norm (panting heavily/having heat exhaustion). I was working at a veterinary hospital in Chicagoland, so I feel confident at making sure your dog is well taken care of, kept hydrated, fed well, and that all the normal everyday tasks (peeing, pooping, breathing) are being well monitored. I will also send pictures/videos if I suspect something is not right/concerning. I hope to take care of your cute pooch soon!
