About: Hi, I’m Abby! I’m a remote worker based in Saco, Maine. I have a very sweet lab/boxer mix Tilly who gets along well with other dogs. I grew up caring for multiple dogs, cats and rabbits and have also pet-sat for family, friends and roommates quite a bit. I feel confident with all breeds, ages, and personalities. I’m home almost all day and have a very flexible schedule. I offer walks and drop-ins in the Saco area, but I’m happy to travel farther for house sitting. Just message me if you have any questions - I’d love to meet your fur babies! I work remotely as a freelance designer so my schedule is very flexible. I’m available throughout the day for drop-ins and walks and can do overnights with enough notice. I am very respectful of how others prefer to care for their pets and their homes. About: I have taken care of 25+ dogs and cats in the past 3 years, to include in home/overnight pet- and house-sitting, dog walking, brushing, litter box maintenance and pill-based medication administration. When taking care of other people’s pets, I provide the attention and care that I was seeking for my own cat and dog (who, sadly, are no longer with me.) My top priority is the safety of the pet, and to that end, I take no risks with the animals in my care – food protocols are carefully followed, walks are always on leash and doors are carefully monitored to ensure indoor cats remain indoors. With my pet care services, you will have: • Happy, safe and well-cared-for pets • A clean and orderly (tidy) home • Clear and timely communication • Regular and frequent updates (with photos and videos of your pets) • Reliable and dependable pet and home care As a recently-retired educator, I have a very flexible schedule, with plenty of time for your pets. I am available for daily walks, overnight or weekend house sits (your house or mine) and vacation sits (1-4 weeks is typical). When starting a new relationship with a client and their pet(s), I schedule a brief ‘pop over’ appointment where I can meet the animal(s) in the presence of their humans. This helps everyone involved – pets and humans – get to know me and feel comfortable with me before I take on the responsibility for the pet. I take care to be calm around the pets I sit - I let both cats and dogs take their time to warm up to me (come to me when they are ready, sniff my hands, my person, my things). I am careful when feeding animals - particularly dogs - giving them space. I follow the pet's routine - if they sleep on the bed, I let them sleep on the bed; if they like to go in and out frequently, I let them go in and out frequently. I try to make them as comfortable as I can, in their human's absence.

Other than my own, I’ve taken care of pets for friends & family for as long as I can remember. My relationship with animals on a whole is a special one for I respect them & am interested in what their behavior is trying to convey to us humans. I have previous volunteer experience at Antler Ridge Wildlife sanctuary in NJ, as well as previous experience in a VCA animal hospital as a tech assistant. I’m responsible, dependable, & very compassionate. I have a deep love for animals & aspire to one day have a nonprofit animal rescue. If your animal is with me, I will treat them with kindness. I know what it’s like to have to work long days away from our furry family members, personally it stresses me out. I would love to be able to ease that feeling of worry or guilt for you & be there to give your dog or cat some love! My schedule at the moment is a little all over the place. Typically every other week I have time off & can offer daily walks, & drop ins. Weekends I can typically do walks & drop ins as well. Mornings, afternoons, & evenings work when I have time off. I don’t have a fenced in yard & don’t plan to board your animals at my home. But when they are in my care at your home or on a walk I will make sure they are always safe. I’ll always check in with you before caring for your animal to see what sorts of situations may be stressful for them/ what their personal restrictions are. If anything ever seems off with your pet when I see them I will notify you immediately. Clear communication is key for safety!
