“Virginia was absolutely fantastic with Jackie and Jilly! The picture we received were absolute proof! :) Virginia was great with the overnight stays and we couldn’t feel more comfortable with anyone else taking care of our pups! We will definitely keep her as our go to sitter! She was terrific! Thank you Virginia! :)”

“Savannah was great! We received photos daily and I knew our girl was in great hands. We came back and our house was in clean condition and dog bedding washed and our Marla was happy. All we can hope for! Thank you again!”

About: I grew up with dogs my entire life and have been pet sitting since I was a teenager. I have two dogs of my own who are my children and any pet I care for will be treated as if they’re my own. I have a lot of experience caring for older dogs since my parents dogs lived until they were 16 and 17yo. I have a full-time work from home job that I can work from anywhere as long as you have internet. I do work nights but work every other week. If you don’t mind me working while your pet sleeps I can sit on weeks I work. My job allows me plenty of flexibility to provide the best care for your pet. First and foremost, I care for every pet as if they’re my own. It’s a big deal to leave someone/something you love with another person, not just for you but for your pet. I will adapt to whatever routine your pet is on. However, I don’t do off leash play outside of a fenced yard or walks.
“Zack did a fantastic job I left him with a page of typed notes for our five very idiosyncratic critters who have specific requirements like the cats get six mouth sized portions of what food a day and our Pitbull who requires just a little bit of walking and he was able to get our very standoffish kitty kitty to come out from under the bed and watch him so he gets an a in my book and he kept us up to date and sent us lots of really good pictures and the cats are not in a bad mood I was prepared to be getting the hate glare but the cats are not angry it is a beautiful thing”

“Nicole and Rose were great! They were flexible with some last minute changes to the sitting. They sent updates and pictures for me to see how the pups were doing. They were very kind and great to communicate with. Can’t wait for them to house sit my pups again!”

“Joel and Ashley did a STELLAR job taking care of our dog and cat. Our situation is a little complicated as we are in the process of making our dog and cat friendly with each other, so they’re currently kept separate. They made sure our cat received tons of attention even though she was sequestered to her own bedrooms. They kept our house tidy, made sure our dog got his walks, and spoiled our babies like they were their own pets. I also got plenty of communication from Joel and lots of pictures showing very happy pets. What a relief to know we have someone we can rely on!”

“We are so grateful for Marianne! She was absolutely amazing with our fur baby, Zara, and went above and beyond the entire time we were away. She was so patient, kind, and understanding, and even stepped in to watch my brother’s dogs for a few days when his sitter canceled last minute. Truly a lifesaver! Marianne kept us updated with photos and videos that made our day and gave us total peace of mind knowing our dogs were happy and well cared for. Thank you so much, Marianne, for treating them like your own. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and will definitely be booking with you again!”

“Maya was wonderful with our two poodle mixes! They were very happy when we arrived back home and it was clear they were well taken care of while we were away. Maya sent daily updates and pictures, which was very much appreciated. She also helped to bring in packages and put our garbage containers out while we were away. She took great care of our dogs and home. We'd definitely love to have Maya dogsit again!”

“This was the first time my husband and I have left our fur babies with anyone but a family member or friend, and we are so pleased with our experience! Alanna was kind and professional from the very start. She alleviated any concerns and answered any questions we had for her. She not only came over once prior to our booking, but twice, to ensure the dogs remembered her and were comfortable. Aside from the care she took on our animals, she respected our home while she stayed there with them! It was as clean, or cleaner, than how we left it and we got daily updates and pics and more if requested. We look forward to booking Alanna again for any future dog sitting!”

“Naomi did a fantastic job house sitting my two puppies. She kept me regularly updated with messages and adorable pictures, which made me feel completely at ease while I was away. It was clear my pups were happy, well-cared for, and comfortable with her. The house was spotless when I got back, and everything was just as I left it. Her attention to detail and thoughtful updates made all the difference. I’d gladly have her back anytime!”

“Alexa was wonderful housesitting and watching my English Bulldog! She was very responsive and provided pictures several times of them on walks and relaxing at home. When I returned from my trip, my dog was very happy and well taken care of. I will definitely be booking with Alexa in the future!”

“Amia was a wonderful caretakers for my two needy cats. She responded quickly to any correspondence, and sent lots of pictures! Very responsible and I would definitely ask her to stay here again. I felt very comfortable having her stay at my home.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. Absolutely amazing from start to finish. They showed up right on time, were incredibly respectful, and handled everything with such care — even though our house was a bit chaotic (thank you for being so understanding). They sent us a sweet picture update of our puppy, which meant the world to us. He clearly missed us, but we felt completely confident he was in good hands. Because of that, we were able to relax and truly enjoy our son’s graduation. We are very picky about who watches our pup, and we’re so grateful we found someone we can trust. You will be our first choice from now on. Fantastic job — 10 stars!”

“Beth is the very best! One of our pups fell ill while we were away and she was extremely caring and conscientious. The level of care was amazing. Thank you Beth!”

“Kylee was absolutely wonderful with my two anxious fur babies. Not to mention she reduced my anxiety with her frequent texts and pictures. I just loved Kylee and I would highly recommend her to everyone. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Kylee. 🩷🩷🩷”

“Kailey stayed and checked on our pup and cat at least 3 times a day and stayed overnight with them as well. We came home to a clean house and a happy puppy and would book her again!”

I couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter. Ariel stayed in my home overnight for six nights while I was away, and it was such a relief knowing my dog was in good hands the whole time. Phoebe needs medication at very specific times each day, and Ariel was diligent about sticking to the schedule without me having to worry about it. My house was left in perfect condition, the dog was happy and relaxed when I got home, and communication throughout the trip was great — I got updates and photos, which really put my mind at ease. It's clear Ariel genuinely cares about the animals she looks after. I'd book her again without hesitation and recommend her to anyone needing a trustworthy, reliable in-home sitter.

Wow ..I was super nervous about our 10 day trip to France because our in and out cat Norman is a handful. Found Katarina and she did an amazing job coming over twice a day plus courageously kept Norman inside most of the time. She kept up with all the food liter and chores I asked of her plus spoiled Norman with lots of love. Will for sure ask for her help again. Highly recommended

This is the 2nd time we have used Nadia to house sit and watch our beloved cat, Gracie. We never worried that Gracie wasn’t in the best care. Nadia sent several pictures daily with updates. Our home was tidy and neat as a pin. I recommend Nadia highly because she is such a lovely, caring and compassionate person. Veronica and David Smith

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Santan walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Santan maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Santan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
