“Thank you Virginia! - we are very happy. Trust and confidence are the fundamentals for a good sitter experience, and Virginia is all about both. Our dog, cat and tortoise were well cared for, the pictures and video were most enjoyable. Everything went as planned.”

“I was thrilled to have Shelbie watch Lucky. She did an amazing job with his meds and walks. She reported in as requested with pictures which made me feel so much better. She will be asked back to watch Lucky again.”

“Best review came from our dog. He did a little "glee pee" when he saw Jason today. Jason stayed with Kal for 3 weeks while we were away on vacation. They obviously got on very well together because Kal has only greeted 2 other people with "glee pee." Finding a responsible, gentle and caring individual was our number one concern when we were looking for someone to care for Kal. Our second concern was finding someone who we could trust to care for the house and our property. Jason exceeded our expectations on both counts. After 3 weeks together, Kal was obviously in love with Jason. The house was exactly as we had left it. If there was a 6th star, he would definitely get it.”

“Zach did a great job watching my dogs. It's the first trip away for overnight and he kept them fed, entertained and gave them all the attention they demand. He left the house in order and kept me in the loop without excess. Would definitely use him again.”

“Christina did a great job with our pups. One of our dogs can be overly anxious and a handful, but when we arrived home everyone was calm. They have maintained a great disposition since we’ve been home. We will definitely reach out again!”

“She watched our 5 babies last minute after I lost my best friend suddenly. She was attentive & made sure the 2 dogs & 3 cats were safe despite my sudden departure. I will be using her again for road trips, family emergencies to week long vacations for sure!!”

“Adalyn took care of our dog overnight. She sent several photos and updates, and refilled her food and water regularly. Bonus, she left the house cleaner than we left it! Can’t wait to book Adalyn again!”

“I was across the country and Nikkole stayed with my Kenny. It was so reassuring to have someone who checked in with pictures and was so obviously giving him love. Will def hire again.”

“Alexis did a fantastic job caring for Ruby over the weekend! Communication was great and she kept me updated throughout the day with pics of all the fun they were having! Will definitely book again!”

About: I take so much passion in taking care of animals, when I was younger I always wanted to be a veterinarian until I realized I would never have the strength to watch a family say goodbye to a best friend. I am a strong believer that all animals have a soul and aren't just pets and that's what sets me apart from others - I will treat your pet in the best way possible and always show them love and compassion! I just relocated to Arizona so I am inbetween jobs leaving my schedule completely open. I absolutely love spending time with animals - so there’s no specific time that wouldn’t work for me. I currently have two cats and a dog at home - they are definitely what you would call spoiled. I am always the go to for my family and their canine companions when they need someone to watch them while on vacation and I always treat animals as if they were my own - with love and compassion!
“Kiersten was just great help with my dogs and my dogs absolutely loved her and coco is very picky when it comes to people and coco ran right up to her and instantly loved her and Coco can be little temperamental sometimes and she was not with Kiersten. She even stayed later for me because my flight got in so late. I will absolutely be using her again. She was amazing. She did everything as I asked, and more. Kiersten is so sweet and so sweet to my dogs. She took plenty of pictures and sent them to me which I loved and didn’t complain not one time because my AC was out upstairs so made the downstairs a little bit hotter then normal downstairs🥵 😬 she gave my dog lots of attention which made me feel much much better about not being there with them. I don’t even think my dogs realize I was gone because Kiersten was so amazing with Coco and Daisy and Ziah. I can’t wait to be able to have her come watch them again cause i know they will be in the best of care. And I’m So happy I finally found a good sitter for my dogs and home !!! Thank you so much Kiersten I will be in touch for sure. You are the best.!!!!!!”

About: If you need someone to give some attention, snuggle, exercise, or anything in between! I have extensive experience administering medications, with or without aids or coercion. (usually! Every dog is different, but I've been trained by veterinary professionals.) I cared for my 13 year-old Lab-mix, Jackson, 24/7 while working from home during Covid lockdowns. Two of those years he was unable to walk unassisted and 100% of his mobility relied on me to go up and down stairs, outside to the bathroom, etc. He needed medications 4 times per day, and so I understand the struggles. In my life I have rescued and raised a squirrel pup, many cats, kittens, dogs, and now I have a 1 year-old pup at home that I have rescued since I just moved here to AZ. (in my picture! Meet Andromeda!) Meet and greets can be done in your home, a park, or wherever you and your pets are comfy! I am currently laid off and can provide nearly any level of support you need within reason. (I do have a pup at home myself that loves and misses me!) I love walking, but I do have physical limits. After sundown is obviously best, but I'm available early mornings too. Mid-day walks are rough on everyone, but I can handle them. I carry TONS of water and ice packs for both the pets and myself. Whatever works best for you and your babies; drop-ins, walks, bathroom breaks only, exercise (light jog for a few miles if they're good on a leash with me!), throwing a ball, playing tug-o-war with rope, whatever they need or want! Low energy? High energy? I'm their man.
About: Hi! Life long animal lover. I’m a former private chef turned house sitter and currently a dog trainer student. With my children grown and a life of ease, house and pet sitting gives me exactly what I love most — purposeful connection, beautiful animals, and the privilege of caring for someone’s most important things while they’re away. I care for cats and dogs full time which allows me to be very flexible when it comes to your sitting needs. With a lifetime of experience caring for others, a professional standard built from years in hospitality and culinary arts, and a genuine love for animals that goes beyond a side hustle. As an empty nester my energy is calm, clean, and completely focused on whoever — and whatever — is in my care. No small children, no chaotic schedules, no distractions are part of my daily lifestyle. When your pets are with me they have my full attention, my full presence, and the kind of unhurried care that only comes from someone who actually wants to be there. What you can expect from me: — A hospitality-trained professional who treats your home with the same respect she’d want for her own — Consistent communication — updates, photos, and check-ins so you can actually enjoy your time away — A calm, experienced presence for animals of all temperaments — I understand animal behavior, I read energy well, and I don’t rattle easily--I'll be learning delving more into professional certified dog training and animal behaviorist soon. Did I mention that, "I love this lifestyle?" I do. — Someone who genuinely loves this — not as a gig, but as a natural extension of who I am. I pet sit full time. Therefore I'm free to travel and pet sit any hour or day. Last minute sits are welcomed. Reach out anytime. I am reliable, discreet, warm, and deeply committed to the trust you place in me when you hand over your keys. Your home and your animals will be in good hands. That’s not a promise I make lightly.
“Alicia did a great job. She sent us pics of our pups and even made an extra trip to let them out to potty as we were stuck in traffic coming home. We will definitely use her again!”

“Savannah was great! We received photos daily and I knew our girl was in great hands. We came back and our house was in clean condition and dog bedding washed and our Marla was happy. All we can hope for! Thank you again!”

“Kat was amazing! Took great care of our dogs and house and left the place cleaner than when she got there. She also takes and sends great pictures of your pup while she’s sitting! Highly recommend her and hope to use her again in the future.”

“Sophia is very caring and you can tell she loves animals. She sent plenty of pictures and was great about staying in touch while I was away. She even went so far as to bring a “carrier” for my old guy that can’t really go on walks anymore which I thought was really sweet. I’ve already rebooked with her and feel great about her caring for my senior dogs!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sun Lakes
Jason was fantastic from start to finish. He responded promptly and came over right away for a meet-and-greet, which gave us confidence before leaving our pets in his care. We have a newly adopted rescue who is extremely timid, along with another dog and two cats, so finding someone patient and attentive was especially important. Jason followed all of our instructions carefully, was very responsive throughout the week, and provided regular updates and pictures that gave us great peace of mind while we were away. When we returned home, everything was neat, clean, and exactly as we left it. It was clear our pets were well cared for and comfortable. Jason will absolutely be our pet sitter of choice going forward, and we recommend him without hesitation.
Our experience with Abi was wonderful. This was the first time we left our pets without family around and Abi allowed me to relax in knowing they were in great care. In all the pictures, the girls all looked happy and relaxed which was a great sign that everything was okay and calm at the house. Coming back, they were happy to see us but were not desperate for attention which showed me they received it just fine while we were gone. Happy to have Abi as a contact here now for future travels and needs!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sun Lakes walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sun Lakes maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sun Lakes choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sun Lakes. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
