I often joke that dogs have been some of my best teachers (and sometimes better company than humans!), and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and wagging tails is one of my favorite things. Whether I’m supporting people through my work or caring for pups in my home, my approach is the same: lead with kindness, stay grounded, and make everyone feel like they belong. At home, I care for my dogs with a mix of structure, play, and genuine affection—daily walks, plenty of exercise, consistent routines, and lots of cuddle time. I make sure they’re mentally stimulated, well-fed, and always feeling safe and loved. Whether we’re relaxing at home, exploring parks, visiting dog-friendly spots, or going on little adventures, I keep their comfort and happiness at the center of everything. I treat every dog in my care the same way I treat my own: with patience, attention, and a commitment to making them feel secure, understood, and part of the family.

About: I grew up around dogs my whole life so I’m used to being around them. I also have had one other dog before and now have a mini dachshund. I’m very comfortable with taking care of dogs and having them in my space. I work a full time job at home, but I’m in control of my own schedule and am very flexible. I’m also available weekends and in the summer, I’m even more flexible. I take my dog out 2-3x a day depending on weather. We go on walk across the street at the park for about 15-20 min and when we are back inside, he is allowed to roam freely. He eats 2x a day with snacks in between and he always has water out. I play with him as much as I can throughout the day to make sure he doesn’t get too bored with his day too! My apartment is always clean to ensure that my pup doesn’t get into anything he isn’t supposed to. Lastly, my apartment building is secure as you need a key fob or someone to buzz you in to enter the building.

When we went back for drop off after the meet and greet visit, it was obvious Alba was excited to return. She was allowed to roam the house, sleep wherever she preferred, and had several walks per day by Becky and her husband. At pickup, she was calm and happy, not stressed at all. About: Dogs have been a part of my heart my whole life. Growing up we always had a dog in the house, big or small. Fast forward to now, my partner and I have fostered almost 40 dogs in recent years. Since then, I have cared for dozens of local dogs that are reactive, anxious, high energy, you name it. Whether it be a puppy who needs constant attention or an older dog that is set in their ways, I have handled it. Your dog(s) will be in caring, assured hands with me. I will care for any breed of any age, size or temperament. I currently work as a local dog walker, boarder and groomer. I am also home quite a bit as well. This allows me to take your pup on an adventure with me during the day where they can go on pack walks, explore and sniff or they can chill in the yard if that is more their style. I am fully insured and certified in canine first aid and CPR, so your dog is always in safe, capable hands. My family dogs are friendly, laid back and always welcome to new friends. My home is set up with multiple boundaries to allow dogs to have quiet time when needed.

“Our minidoodle Sam had a great stay with Charlotte and Jordan, and their dog Kyber. Two things we especially like: They generally just take one dog at a time (more attention, and Sam loves attention!), and they live near some great walking trails. Very nice people.”

“Simba really enjoyed his one week stay with Melissa. She has a nice fenced yard and 2 beautiful children who Simba really loved. Simba got a lot of exercise and play time (we could check it from his FI collar app). She even brushed him and removed the matting from behind his ears. Simba got play dates with other cute and friendly pups that would come to her day care. Melissa sent us photos and videos of Simba everyday and kept us updated. We highly recommend her for dog sitting and dog boarding services. We will definitely use her services again for Simba. She is absolutely the best.”

“This was our first time leaving the pups anywhere with anyone other than family, and we left them for 3 days and nights over President's Day Weekend when we went up north. We chose Thea based on the excellent reviews and also availability. I brought the dogs over to meet her and Karma, her dog, and my dogs seemed comfortable there right away. My dogs, who are 65-75 pound puppies, can be quite rowdy, but to my surprise, they were calmed by the other dogs' energy. Even when we stopped by for a meet and greet, they made themselves at home by finding a cozy place to lounge and chew on a toy. Throughout the weekend, other dogs came and went, and our pups seemed to get along with all of them. It was very refreshing and Thea was very accommodating. She brought them to the dog park, on walks, and even an excursion to the beach, which we hadn't been quite brave enough to try yet ourselves. We definitely have our hands full with these two, and she has reassured us that we are doing a good job with them. We feel like we made a great choice sending our dogs to Dorothea.”
