About: I have two Australian Shepherds of my own, so I know firsthand how much love, attention, exercise, and care dogs need! I have years of hands on experience caring for dogs, including walks, feeding, playtime, and daily attention. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and personalities and always make sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for. Since I work remotely, I have a flexible schedule and would love the opportunity to spend more time with your furry friends! I work remotely, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to be available for pet care throughout the week. I’m reliable, communicative, and happy to work with your schedule to make sure your pets get the care and attention they need. I’m also available for walks, drop ins, and other pet care needs! Your pet’s safety and comfort are very important to me. I follow all care instructions closely and make sure your dog feels safe and well cared for. I’m attentive, reliable, and happy to send updates while you’re away.
“Easy to book, great at the meet-and-greet, and very patient with my little boy—even during his rough housing. She followed all instructions and did a great job. I’d happily book with her again!”

“Cheryl dog sat at our house for our six-year-old bulldog and one-year-old rescue (only two weeks with us when Cheryl came). She did a great job. Clyde our new rescue took a couple days to warm up to Cheryl, but she did a great job making him comfortable. I would definitely use Cheryl again!”

“Isabella took amazing care of our 3 cats! When their auto feeder stopped working suddenly she was able to swing by in the morning to fix it. We loved the check ins and photos we received giving us piece of mind that are fur babies were well cared for. 10/10 would book again!”

“Jennifer was great - she came to our home for 3 nights that we were going to be out of town to take care of our 10 lb. chihuahua mix. The house was left spotless and our dog seemed like she had a really great time while we were away (which isn't always the case). We'll definitely be booking again for our in-home pet sitting needs.”

“Brittany is amazing. I can’t say enough great things! She responded promptly to the request to take care of my pups and was accommodating in setting up a meet and greet. She is extremely reliable, communicative and compassionate. When I returned home, the dogs were happy and everything was spotless and in order. I would highly recommend Brittany for anyone looking for peace and exceptional care!”

“From the very first meet‑and‑greet, I knew Carina was the perfect match for my boy, Sheppy. She connected with him instantly, and the peace of mind I felt from that moment only grew throughout my trip abroad. Carina went above and beyond while staying in my home and caring for Sheppy. She checked in regularly, shared the sweetest photos, and kept me updated in a way that made me feel completely at ease. It was clear she treated him with the same love, patience, and attention she would give her own dog. Carina is responsible, thoughtful, and genuinely gifted with animals. I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter, and I’m so grateful for the care she gave my boy. I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their furry family member. I will be booking her again even without travel plans just to keep Sheppy and his new BFF Carina connected.”

“We are so happy we found Erin! She is very reliable and kind... the pups were in good hands and we were able to have a nice weekend away knowing that our babies were being well cared for. Will be booking again!”

“OMG we went on vacation for three weeks and left our cat and our home in the care of Lilian, who was a rockstar. She took care of everything, followed all of our instructions and when we came home this time our cat was completely at ease. Usually when we return home from vacation, whether it's a week or longer and we have somebody stop in, we hear it from the cat for a good two weeks waking us up early in the morning rauling, but this time Bella just showed love and has been 100% normal. We would hire her again in our heartbeat. Best decision we ever made!”

“Kaitlyn was a great sitter for our Rosie. She even left me notes of the medication times and dates. She was on time and sent photo updates. We will happily rebook Kaitlyn in the future.”

“Andrea watched our two dogs for the weekend, they absolutely loved her and she took such great care of them. We didn’t worry once, she checked in often and sent pictures. Would definitely recommend and would love to have her watch our fur babies in the future!”

“Jamie took great care of our dog. She was communicative and was able to help us out last minute. Callie seemed to have a great time and felt very comfortable with Jamie. We will definitely rebook!”

“Grace really helped us out in a pinch ! Our sitter Couldn’t sit last minute and Grace happily came by met our kitty and was able to watch her while we traveled to visit family. Grace communicated well and sent pics of our kitty through the trip. Our house was just as we left it when we came back and kitty was happy! She also cared for our guinea pig! Thanks so much Grace :-)”

“Tom did a great job with Chidi! He can be tricky and he was very patient as Chidi reacclimated. He also shoveled our stairs and cleaned off our car after the snow which was nice to come home to.”

“Having Ann Marie watch our dog was a stress free and absolutely awesome experience! She was so flexible coming to meet with us ahead of time and a great communicator for our entire trip. We felt completely at ease knowing our dog was in great hands and we are so grateful!”

“Amy is wonderful and very trustworthy! We were in a pinch and looking for a dog sitter last minute and she was available for us on New Year’s Eve and the next day& night at our place. She made sure to send us lots of updates with videos which helped to make us feel super comfortable having a new sitter. She even brought a cognitive toy with her to keep our pup entertained and brushed our dogs teeth. We will be hiring her again and I would absolutely recommend her! Thanks again, Amy!”

We had a wonderful first experience with Melanie as our dog sitter. Our plans changed a few times, and she was extremely patient, flexible, and responsive throughout the process. She arrived right on time, stayed later than originally planned, and took excellent care of our dog. Melanie sent us pictures and regular updates, which gave us great peace of mind. She was pleasant, reliable, and very easy to communicate with. We highly recommend her and look forward to using her again!

Melissa was absolutely fantastic with our girls. We have one very anxious dog who Melissa completely won over and made our time away so much better for her, and us. Melissa took exceptional care of our babies and made sure to send us lots of updates, pictures, and videos. Beyond pet care, Melissa took wonderful care of our home. She is a pleasure to work with and I cannot recommend her services enough.

For the past 5 years it’s been increasingly difficult to find dependable and understanding house sitters for my anxious and fearful Chihuahua.Jacky is both and more. She was punctual and adapted to Finn’s personality and schedule without a problem. He’s scared and yippy when meeting new people but it didn’t take long for him to cuddle up to Jacky. There were many pictures and updates which I appreciated and put me at ease knowing that Finn was being well cared for.Unfortunately, for us, distance is a problem going forward with house sitting which is our main need.I would not hesitate for a second to have Jacky care for Finn, again, and I highly recommend her.Your babies will be in excellent hands.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Salem walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Salem maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Salem choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
