About: I’ve grown up around dogs of all sizes, from small breeds to big ones. Before PA school, I raised a golden retriever from puppyhood to adulthood and handled everything hands-on: crate training, basic commands, daily walks, feeding, grooming, and vet visits, including emergencies. That experience taught me how to stay calm and act quickly when something isn’t right. What sets me apart is my medical background. Before every stay, I’ll ask about your dog’s usual appetite, energy, and habits so I know what’s normal for them. My PA training has taught me to pay close attention to details, so if anything seems off, like skipped meals, unusual tiredness, or limping, I’ll notice and let you know right away. Now that my classroom training is done, I’ve been spending time with my aunt’s dog, a high-energy puppy with a leg injury. I take him on lots of walks to burn off that energy while keeping an eye on how his leg is holding up. It reminded me how much I’ve missed having a dog around. I can’t own one while I’m in school, so I’d love to give your dog the care I’d give my own. I’m in my clinical year of PA school, and while weekdays are busy with my rotation, my weekends are available. I spend them studying at home in my apartment, which means your dog gets a friend all day instead of hours alone. I’m available on weekends for boarding and walks. Our 13-year-old AmStaff, Jackson, had surgery the Friday before his stay and by Monday night, drop-off night, we were in the doggy ER. I texted Patti from the waiting room, explained everything, and without hesitation she said bring him... we want to care for him. We showed up at 11p with a loopy, post-ER dog, a bland diet we'd just cooked up, a pile of medications, and a whole lot of apology. They took him in like he was their own. What followed was a week of daily photo updates, warm compresses on his incision, anxiety meds crushed into peanut butter, small-batch feedings, middle-of-the-night potty runs, and more love than I could have asked for. Patti was his constant and his nurse. Patrick became his cuddle buddy. They even scored him a Dairy Queen pup cup. I cried every single day from the updates they sent out of pure joy, appreciation and knowing our special Jackson was being unconditionally loved and doted on non-stop. They even checked in on him after we got home. They missed him. That's not the job... that's just who they are, and it says everything about the care and love they pour into what they do. We are very protective of our two dogs, and leaving them without a family member was hard to do. Fernanda kept us well informed, daily. She followed instructions and adapted to their needs. When we picked the dogs up, they were happy to see us and be home, but seemed to miss the connection they formed with Fernanda and her daughter, and their dog.
We are so fortunate to have found Kari and her wonderful family. We did a meet-and-greet with our dog prior to the stay and immediately became comfortable with her family and her wonderful home. During the stay Kari sent photos and updates every day as was very good at communication. She was also very flexible with us regarding pickup and drop off times. I will absolutely look to Kari again in the future if we need dog care again.
Lorraine is so, so sweet and clearly adores every animal she meets. Our mastiff/newfie mix, Moose, had a wonderful stay with her. She gave him tons of love and kept him active! It meant a lot to us that she was able to understand and keep up with his medications and supplements as well. She kept us very well updated on his days. We will absolutely trust Lorraine with Moose again!
