“Michael and Danielle were wonderful with Wally. Drop off and pick up was really easy. Their home is beautiful and they have a fenced in yard where Wally could run around with their dog Jet. We received daily updates with lots of photos of Wally enjoying herself. We would definitely trust them with Wally again! Thank you!”

“Lexi and Prashanth were phenomenal sitters. They treated my dog Luka with incredible care, attention, and treats. I also appreciated their flexibility with my schedule during my work trip. Luka and I will certainly use them again in the future. Thanks again, y’all!”

“Krystal was a wonderful caregiver to my 12.5yr old frenchie, Honey, who requires oral medication as well as eye drops. Krystal was very responsive during booking and during Honeys stay. Her dog Kilo is chill and he welcomed Honey to his pack for 5 days. I will certainly check with Krystal when Hobsy needs a place to stay.”

“Kathy is really fantastic. Jack is a bit overwhelming with his anxious barking at first but Kathy was calm and accepting. She sent pictures of him during the 5 days we were away with updates on his well being. We truly felt he was in good hands and knew from the pics he was sleeping well, be in on the couch, on Kathy's bed, or on her furry pillow on the floor! I would definitely recommend Kathy to anyone with a quirky dog that is demanding and loves to be treated like a baby.”

About: Hi! I’m Abbey — a lifelong animal lover who grew up with three dogs of my own. I’ve also helped several families, neighbors, and friends with walks, feedings, and check-ins. I’m reliable, caring, and always make sure pets feel happy, safe, and loved while you’re away. 🐾 Pet care fits naturally into my routine! I’m available on weekends and during mornings and evenings throughout the week. Whether it’s a quick walk, feeding, or drop-in visit, I’m happy to make sure your pets get the care and attention they need. When caring for pets in their own home, I always follow the owner’s instructions and routines to keep things consistent and comfortable. I make sure pets get fresh water, food, walks, playtime, and plenty of affection. I treat every home with respect and every pet like my own.

“Stephanie was great! I had issue with my flight because of the snowstorm and we were able to work around that. Duckie was very well cared for and had a great time. I will definitely recommend her and use her again.”

“Chunwei took very good care of Papaya. She and her family treated her like their own family, and Papaya also had good time with their dog. I appreciate the care and love, and we can feel relieved when we’re on vacation.”

“William was so nice with Silver, he cared for my dog like he was his own! Willian provided updates and photos everyday, his dog Whiskey is also amazing too! I would definitely recommend .”

“Loves dogs. Did great with Eddie. We were on vacation and booked a night of boarding so we could go into the city. Figured out what he liked. Great updates throughout the day. Very clean home. I’d board him with her again. Wish she lived closer to us in Ohio.”

About: In 2025 I decided to go full time and start my own pet care business. I am fully bonded & insured! I love all animals but the anxious ones are really where I shine. I will meet your pet where they’re at. I’m Canine + Feline CPR & first aid certified, I have previous experience from working in a grooming salon (not a groomer though!) and am serious about continuing education— I’ve pursued additional certifications as well as a dog training apprenticeship and continue to do so. Additionally, I run an in-home daycare for small dogs. I have an employee who helps me with this and is trained to the same standards. Please reach out with any questions. Since making the full-time pivot to pet care, my schedule now has the flexibility fit around the needs of your pets. For walks, our walk doesn't officially "START" until your dogs paws hit the pavement! Your dog gets the full 30 minutes with no corners cut. This is true for all of my services. I will care for them like they are my own dogs— their safety is my top priority, and I know how difficult the transition can be for pups when their parents are gone and will do everything in my power to make that easier for them.
“Jane was so lovely and her dog Fancy is so cute! Our puppers needed a one night boarding while we were at a wedding. Jane took great care of him and sent so many photos, videos, and updates throughout the night and the next morning. She asked great questions if she was unsure of things. I loved the communication and flexibility Jane provided. Our dog was so happy when we came back to pick him up which let us know he had a great time at Jane’s! Would definitely recommend as a sitter!”

“Kayla is very responsive, diligent, and flexible. I would definitely entrust my dog, Yummy, to her again! For example, she kept me in the loop every day via photos. Moreover, she went above and beyond to accommodate several last-minute issues that arose on my side (e.g., extending Yummy's stay, picking him up / dropping him off, etc.).”

“Patricia is a very warm and generous person. My pup had a lot of fun and I could tell from the pictures she sent me everyday while he was staying with her. Highly recommended! Thank you.”

“Jonathan and Rebecca were absolutely wonderful!! They communicated with me every day with an update on how my dog was doing and sent pics! Highly recommend this lovely family to take care of your pet!! ❤️”

“Jacqueline was such an Amazing sitter! She sent updates, photos, and videos the entire time I was away! My pup immediately imprinted on her in my absence so I know for a fact that he felt safe. Will definitely be using Jacqueline again in the future. 10/10 recommend!!”

“Kevin was fantastic! We had a need for a last-minute booking, and he accepted. He sent us updates and photos of Buddy throughout the weekend, and clearly Buddy was extremely comfortable with him. We highly recommend Kevin!”

“Rick took incredible care of our dog, Leo! His property is a true paradise for dogs, with plenty of space to run and explore. Leo had a blast being part of a pack and came home happy and relaxed. Rick was extremely communicative, sending frequent photos and videos and answering all of our questions. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely trust Rick to care for Leo again! Highly recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Port Monmouth
We couldn’t be happier with the care our dogs, Bo and Rosie, received! From the moment we met our dog sitter, we knew they truly loved animals. Bo and Rosie were treated like family, and it gave us such peace of mind knowing they were in such caring and capable hands. We received regular updates, photos, and messages, which made being away so much easier. When we returned, both dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. It’s obvious they received plenty of love, attention, exercise, and affection. We highly recommend this dog sitter to anyone looking for someone dependable, compassionate, and trustworthy. We will absolutely be booking again.

Let me start by saying that my dogs have never been away from home, so I left two of them with Michael as a short-term test. (2 nights) Lucy, who weighs about 5 lbs, was just fine—she rolls with the punches. Mac, who weighs about 20 lbs, on the other hand, was more of a challenge. Michael took wonderful care of both, giving Mac the extra attention he needed. Michael handled him with patience and care. I’d trust him with them anytime! I would gladly trust them with Michael again—if he’ll have them!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
