“Leaving our beagle Maxine with Stephanie was a great decision for us.. We picked her up a little later than end of day, and Stephanie was flexible enough to accommodate us . Will definitely keep using Stephanie for future dog sitting needs”

“Kevin is great with my dog Mocha. I feel at ease knowing she is in his care. Mocha always comes back as a happy pup, having been able to sniff around the yard and getting plenty of playtime and cuddles”

“We had such a wonderful experience with Yvette while she cared for our mini Bernedoodle, Dylan, over the weekend of our daughter’s wedding. From the moment we met her, we felt completely at ease leaving Dylan in her care. She’s incredibly reliable, communicates clearly and promptly, and most importantly, treated our puppy with so much affection and love. She sent us updates with the cutest pictures too! It was clear that Dylan felt safe and special in her warm, welcoming home. Knowing he was so well cared for gave us real peace of mind during a very important family weekend. We’re so grateful to have found her and wouldn’t hesitate to leave Dylan with her again in the future!”

About: I've had pets in my home all my life and have always helped care for them. Including: dogs, rabbits, rats, lizards, and fish. Dogs have always been my favorite animal and I love caring for them by walking them in interesting places or feeding them, even sleeping with them! I finally got a dog of my own at 15 and for the past several years have walked her weekly. Now I have 2 and have learned to manage them both while walking simultaneously. I try to go on light hiking trails or to parks, switching up the location every time. I currently walk my two dogs once a week for around 2 hours at a time and occasionally help with feeding and letting them out to pee. I also pet them and sit with them as often as I can. In my home, my dogs are well-fed with a healthy diet of kibble twice a day, eggs in the morning, and chicken strips at night. They each get baths once every few weeks. We also always prefer they are never alone for more than a few hours at a time. If we leave even for one night, we make sure we have someone visit them every few hours for feeding and letting out. Otherwise, we make sure they feel as loved as possible with lots of petting and sitting together!
“Let me start by saying that my dogs have never been away from home, so I left two of them with Michael as a short-term test. (2 nights) Lucy, who weighs about 5 lbs, was just fine—she rolls with the punches. Mac, who weighs about 20 lbs, on the other hand, was more of a challenge. Michael took wonderful care of both, giving Mac the extra attention he needed. Michael handled him with patience and care. I’d trust him with them anytime! I would gladly trust them with Michael again—if he’ll have them!”

“I needed a last minute sitter and decided to go with Cherish. She was super accommodating and took amazing care of my baby. I received updates, pictures and videos of my guy. I will be booking again with her. Thank you so much!”

“My anxious pup with a complicated medication routine was well cared for. He settled in quickly and his routine was followed as requested. Jaimie kept in good communication throughout his stay. Will happily book again!”

“Nervana and her family were wonderful with our 2 dogs. We used her for a full week while we went away on vacation. She was super communicative, giving us updates with pictures and videos daily. Our dogs were very happy and it was obvious she provided a caring and loving environment for them. Would 100% recommend Nervana.... :)”

“Fist time boarding my 15 year old toy poodle with Michael and Danielle. He loved it. They provided a warm and loving environment for this old guy. They have a beautiful home and great yard for playtime. A great experience all around.”

“Kavya watched our pup Loki for 3 days while we attended a family wedding. Loki is always with us so he is not the best at staying with new people, but when we picked him up and from the pictures and videos she sent, Loki was very happy, which meant we were very happy. Highly, highly recommended Kavya to anyone looking for a responsive and caring sitter for their fuzzy kids.”

“Nan is a warm and caring person, and one of the best pet sitter I’ve ever met. She not only takes excellent care of the dogs but also provides them with companionship, making them feel completely at home. The nearby park is convenient for playtime, and unlike some dog sitter ,she gives dogs plenty of space to roam freely. Her family also loves dogs and treats them as friends. You can trust Nan wholeheartedly with your dog’s care.”

“Chunwei took very good care of Papaya. She and her family treated her like their own family, and Papaya also had good time with their dog. I appreciate the care and love, and we can feel relieved when we’re on vacation.”

“Meaghan was wonderful with my 10 year old Shitzu. She was friendly, loving, and easy to work with. My dog loved her and felt part of her family instantly. I felt like I was leaving him with family. She has a nice house and large fenced in backyard. I was very impressed with Meaghan.”

Grateful for Kayla and her family taking great care of Miles and for last minute booking. Received frequent updates. Very flexible with drop off and pick up. Looks like Miles had a great company and lots of playtime. Would like to book again next time Miles needs a home away from home. Thank you very much!

Karina took great care of Jax while we were away! She has a clean, welcoming home with fenced front and back yards, and she kept me updated with lots of pictures and messages throughout his stay. She’s also a genuinely kind and wonderful person, which made me feel completely comfortable leaving Jax in her care. He looked so happy and well cared for with her. I would definitely book with Karina again and highly recommend her!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
