“Mary and Aaron are genuinely good people, they took wonderful care of our labradoodle Stella for a week. Mary sent me photos which made my day and just reinforced my comfort level of leaving her with someone for week. They have a wonderful, shaded big backyard that is an oasis for dogs. I highly Recommend Mary and Aaron???”

“Our dog Mazie loves going to Ricks! She is an Aussiedoodle that needs a lot of exercise so it was important for us to find someone who would make sure she got her steps in. At Rick’s, she’s able to run the property to get out all of her energy. Rick sends us videos every day to share how Mazie is doing. We feel confident knowing mazie is in good hands when we are away.”

“Oh my God, Patricia is absolutely amazing. This was our first time booking her and she did an excellent job at making us feel comfortable. Patricia sent tons of photos and updates throughout Kovu’s stay. We truly appreciate the time Kovu bonded with you. Thank you so much. 10/10, definitely recommend 💕.”

“Our pup always has such a great time with Rachel. It’s her home away from home. We’re happy she has someone she really loves to care for her when we have to travel.”

“Doris and her family always take great care of Brownie as if she was their own fur baby. I can tell from the photos that Brownie is having a great time. I would not hesitate to recommend Doris as a sitter. Brownie has stayed with Doris several times now and she always comes back happy and in great shape. Thank you so much!”

“Wonderful care! Our dog felt completely at home and was in great shape after her stay with Margaret. Super responsive and helpful, will definitely board our dog with her again.”

“Kay (Yiqi) was awesome and we can’t wait to leave Chewie with her and her family again. You know it’s a great visit when he goes back to give the sitter a big bunch of licks on the face. Thank you so much for taking care of our pupper, sending us regular updates. It really made our first time rover experience so lovely! All the best and thank you again!”

“Carol was the best sitter I could ask for! She is so kind and took care of my puppy so well! This was my first time leaving my puppy with a sitter and she gave me peace of mind with check ins. I knew she was in good hands. I would definitely book with Carol again.”

“Appa stayed with Katerina for 4 days. Katerina kept us posted with his daily activities. She checked in with us if Appa could have watermelon which shows her attentiveness to his diet. She sent pictures and videos of Appa. Katerina is a great sitter, will use her again.”

“I recently had the pleasure of using T'Keyah as my dog sitter, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. From the moment we met, it was clear that she had a genuine love for animals. My dog Bonnie, who can be quite shy around new people, warmed up to her immediately. Throughout the sitting period, T'Keyah provided regular updates and photos, which gave me great peace of mind. It was evident that she was attentive to my dig's' needs and made sure she was comfortable, well-fed, and entertained. When I returned, Bonnie was happy and healthy, and I could tell she had been well cared for. I highly recommend T'Keyah to anyone in need of a reliable, caring, and professional dog sitter. I will definitely be booking her again in the future.”

“Thank you for making Lonesome's visit such a wonderful experience. All of the pictures you sent showed him having such a wonderful time. He loves to run and play and it was great to see him come home so exhausted!! He slept for about 2 days straight. LOL.”

“Emerald was amazing! So friendly and easy to communicate with. She sent lots of photos and updates which was really appreciated. Would absolutely recommend Emerald and would book with her again in the future”

“What a great dog sitter!! Teddy is our 11 yr old Morkie with diabetes, so he needs insulin injections every day. Teddy stayed with Megan and her husband for an entire week. They were so nice and accommodating, and going out of their way to make Teddy comfortable in his nighttime routine. Their two little dogs got along well with Teddy, and I got pics and a short caption most days. When I picked him up, he was as happy and lively as when I dropped him off. I will definitely be using Megan again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
