“SHERRY. IS. INCREDIBLE. As a first time user, I was a little concerned about the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and needed a place for my pupper during dinner. Not only did Sherry go above and beyond to answer any questions and allay my concerns, she provided consistent, heartfelt updates regarding my dog and the stay. In the end, everything was perfect, from drop off to pickup, and I can’t recommend her enough for anyone on the fence for Rover overnights and/or dog sitting. Truly a delightful experience. Many thanks Sherry!”

“Taylor was absolutely amazing! She knows dogs well and is super friendly and compassionate. I trusted her completely with my 3 fur babies while I flew home for the holidays. She even gave them all stockings with a toy, treat and blanket in them😊 So sweet! She kept me updated always with texts and pictures and I never was worried my whole trip. Her children are so sweet and loved on my fur kids and I was so glad everyone became good friends. I 100% recommend booking with Taylor if you are in need of fantastic sitter in Port Charlotte!”

“Our two frenchies enjoyed their stay with Jacqueline. Jacqueline has great communication and sent us several updates and pictures of our fur babies throughout our trip. She provided excellent care and love to the fur babies. So thankful to have a pet sitter that provided the same amount of attention they would receive at home.”

It took a while for Possha to warm up being in a danger and different home but a couple of days in Possha became one of her own pets. She sent a picture of Possha sleeping on her shoulder. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - North Port
Jennifer was truly the best case scenario when finding a rover for our dog Ollie. I’ve always had family watch him so finding a rover made me a little anxious but she sent pictures of him and kept us in the loop. She’s very sweet and you can tell she loves animals. He also came home smelling amazing and I can tell he was well taken care of. I would highly recommend her to anyone!! Ollie says thank you 🙏

Starla took wonderful care of our sometimes unruly little morkie Maui. We were able to relax on our week long vacation knowing he was in great hands. Starla communicated with us regularly with pictures putting us even more at ease. We would highly recommend Starla to our friends and family. We will surely be using her services again.
Robin is an absolute angel! She watched our dog Buddy for 10 days, and was amazing with him. Buddy is a rescue and a very nervous little guy, so Robin had us bring him over for short little stays with her prior to our vacation, so that Buddy could get adjusted to us leaving him for a period of time. She truly cares about the pets she watches, and I felt like she cared for Buddy as if he were her own. Robin kept us updated on how he was doing, and included photos. We missed Buddy terribly while we were away, but we knew he was in safe, capable, and loving hands. I would recommend Robin to anyone looking for a pet sitter, and would not hesitate to book with her again. Five stars is not enough! :)

Nicole was absolutely amazing! I could not have been luckier to book her! Every inquiry I made she was very quick to respond on top of that she sent constant text, photo and even video updates during the stay. I would rate her 6 out of 5 stars if I could! Could not be happier!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in FL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
