“Catlyn was awesome! She did really great with my dog who was struggling with some scary thunderstorms. I never had to ask for updates! She sent lots of pictures and my house was spotless coming back home to. Totally will re-book!”

“I was sick to my stomach thinking about leaving my baby, but Debra was so amazing with our Gunner! I got texts & pictures every day and we came to a happy boy! She even gave us tidbits for training! We’re definitely keeping her in our roster for dog sitting! I can’t give enough praises!!!! Debra you are awesome!”

“Jennifer was easy to communicate with right from the beginning. She kept us updated during the 2 days she kept our elderly dog. Our dog requires medicine and wears diapers which was not a problem for Jennifer. I hope to use her again! Our dog loved her!”

“Kayla did a great job taking care of our cat. She send several pictures each day. She left our home as neat and clean as it was when she arrived. We would definitely hire Kayla again !”

“Tatianna took wonderful care of my dog while I was out for the evening. She arrived on time, then walked him on one of the coldest nights of the year, gave him treats, and paid lots of attention to him. I will not hesitate to have Tatianna come back again.”

“Christine was fantastic! She was incredibly flexible and accommodating with our schedule, and she took wonderful care of Charlotte and Olive. We really appreciated the frequent updates, adorable photos, and excellent communication throughout their stay. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with Christine again and look forward to having her watch Charlotte and Olive in the future. Highly recommend!”
“Montana is amazing and all my dogs love her. She is a wonderful person who loves what she does. I highly recommend her. She texted and sent photos. She made us feel safe leaving our furry babies as one is an elder dog.”

About: I’ve always had a deep love for animals and have been caring for them for over 15 years, including dogs, cats, and horses. I recently lost my beloved dog, Diesel, who was a huge part of my life. While I’m not quite ready to open my heart to another pet of my own yet, I have so much love and care to give to yours. I truly enjoy getting to know each animal and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, happy, and loved while their family is away. Whether it’s walks, playtime, cuddles, feeding, or simply keeping them company, I’ll care for your pets with the same love, patience, and attention I’ve always given my own. I work from home, which gives me a very flexible schedule and allows me to spend plenty of time with your pets throughout the day. I’m also happy to stay in your home so they can remain in the environment where they feel safest and most comfortable. I can keep them company while I work and maintain their normal routine with walks, meals, playtime, cuddles, and lots of love and attention. I believe most pets are happiest and most comfortable in their own home, surrounded by their familiar smells, routines, and favorite spots. Since I work from home, I’m able to stay with them and give them plenty of companionship throughout the day rather than leaving them alone for long periods. I’ll follow your routines and instructions closely and treat your pets and your home with the same love, care, and respect I would my own.
“If you are going out of town and want the absolute best dog sitter by a landslide - pick Eni. We went out of town for 4 nights and she took photos and chatted with us multiple times a day to check in. I cannot say enough, honestly. I have never felt so assured and confident that everything with my dog and home would be in fantastic hands. Will book her again every time.”

“We did a meet and greet with Gretchen and knew right away that she would be a wonderful fit to watch our dogs. She was incredibly responsive and worked with our schedule, which we really appreciated. Throughout the day, she sent us pictures and updates, which gave us so much peace of mind and allowed us to see how happy and comfortable our dogs were. We felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands. Thank you so much, Gretchen, for taking such great care of our pups! We highly recommend her and will absolutely be reaching out again in the future. 😊”

About: Meet Your Sitter 🐾 Hi, I’m Emily! I’m a mom of three, a lifelong animal lover, and someone who has pretty much never met an animal I didn’t want to help. I grew up in Charlotte County and have lived here locally for almost all of my life! My oldest is proudly enlisted in the Marines, and at home I have a little zoo of my own—including three dogs (Sirus, Foxy, and Mavis), three cats (Potato, Mitty, and Pirate), two rabbits (Eugene and Beetle), a snake, a bearded dragon, and some fish. Needless to say, animals are a very big part of my life! Over my 38 years, I’ve had the opportunity to own, care for, and work with all kinds of animals, including goats, cattle, poultry, pigs, horses, reptiles, cats, and dogs. When I was younger, I volunteered at Lions Tigers & Bears, an exotic animal sanctuary, where I helped with animal care and volunteer services. I’ve also been involved with 4-H and FFA, and my daughter is now carrying on that tradition through 4-H. Animal care has been more than just a hobby for me—it has been a career and a passion. I’ve worked as a kennel manager and veterinary technician, and for the past six years I’ve worked at a local animal control agency. I’ve received several awards recognizing my hard work, dedication, and commitment to helping animals and the community. I’ve also been pet sitting for more than 15 years and have fostered more than 25 dogs and kittens over the past 18 years. And yes…some of those foster animals became foster fails and permanent members of the family! ❤️ 🖤The Misfits Have My Heart💜 I have a particularly special place in my heart for the animals who may need a little extra patience and understanding—the shy ones, the spicy ones, the nervous ones, and those with special quirks or medical needs. Whether they’re missing a limb, require medications, have anxiety, or simply need someone willing to take things at their pace, I genuinely enjoy getting to know them. I’m also comfortable working with large-breed dogs and dogs that have been labeled “aggressive.” I have a calm, confident, and assertive approach with animals, and I’ve always found that they tend to gravitate toward me once they realize they’re safe and understood. Whether I’m caring for a client’s dog, cat, rabbit, reptile, or another special creature, I treat them with the same patience, respect, and love that I give my own animals. Your pets aren’t just a job to me—they’re family while you’re away. I also work closely with my sister-in-law, who owns her own pet-sitting business. By working together, we’re able to help accommodate our clients’ schedules, provide additional support when needed, and make sure your pets receive the care and attention they deserve. Here’s her page if you’d like to give her a follow too! Hounds at Home My goal is simple: to give you peace of mind while you’re away and give your animals a familiar, caring person they can trust. 🐶🐱🐰🦎🐴❤️ Servicing locally in North Port, Venice, Port Charlotte, Englewood and Punta Gorda! I offer drop ins, overnights and much more! Please send me a message to get started 🐾🖤
“Connie was a wonderful dog-sitter for my elder dog Kelsey. She kept me informed and sent photos throughout the days I was gone. Kelsey warmed up to her very quickly. It's a nice feeling knowing I have a trustworthy dog-sitter to turn to when needed. I highly recommend Connie!”

“Because of Lisa we were able to leave our almost 6 month old puppy without worry. She was competent in every way and even better, loving and caring with our pup. She sent many photos while we were gone the 3 days. We came home to a very happy dog and a very clean and neat home. Lisa will be the first I contact when I need a sitter again.”

“Brittany is our new fairy dog mother! She has dog sit for us a few times now and has been very trustworthy & reliable. We are thankful to be able to leave and know our doggies are in good hands. Highly recommend!”

“Philip was awesome. He was an excellent communicator while we were away. He handled our four dogs and two cats seamlessly. It was such a relief to come home and have such content and happy dogs and cats. He also left the house extremely clean which I really appreciate. I have high expectations and I was very happy with Phillip’s service.”

“Jennifer was amazing! She was extremely efficient and responsive when it came to booking and the actual day of dog sitting. She was willing to take the time to come over ahead of time and meet the pups the day before. We were going to be gone all day for a day trip with our kids and needed someone to come and walk our German Shepherd and Yorkie and feed them dinner. She went over three times during the day and sent us pictures and videos during each visit. It was nice knowing they were in good hands as we are new to the area. We will definitely be using Jennifer again and highly recommend her!”

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Starla! From the moment we met, we felt completely at ease knowing our dog was in such caring hands. It was obvious when we got home that our pup was well loved, happy, and exceptionally well cared for. On top of that, our house was absolutely spotless—it looked just as good (if not better!) than when we left. We truly couldn't have asked for a better sitter. We are so grateful for the care, kindness, and attention Starla gave both our dog and our home. We would gladly book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and compassionate!

Connor was unable to fulfill a house sitting, but accommodated with boarding my Peter at his home, and even dropped him off after, which was super helpful when we were flying in late. Connor was responsive to all messages. I trusted him because he is a new teacher, and anyone who can teach kids has to be a good person! Thanks Connor for being flexible!

Evria pupsat overnight. She had a positive impact on mine and my daughter’s dog! Lily greeted her with a big smile; remembering her from our Meet and Greet weeks prior! Bentley is a scaredy cat and snuggled with Evria almost constantly. She followed Bs special diet flawlessly. She left our home immaculate! I highly recommend Evria to lovingly take care of your pets too!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Port walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Port maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Port choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in North Port. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
