“There's something about her - my dog just instantly loved her. He loves everyone, but with Leah it was more of a calm "oh yeah" than his normal manic excitement over guests. She's a gem. She is communicative and reliable, putting my mind at ease.”

“Tara continues to be amazing. She is is so enthusiastic and excited to walk our dog and he feels similarly. She is communicative throughout and after the walk and our dog always returns happy and tired.”

About: What sets me apart is my calm and patient nature, which helps pets feel safe and comfortable—especially shy or moody cats. I have hands-on experience training puppies and big dogs, focusing on positive reinforcement and consistency to build good habits. I’m also skilled in senior pet care, understanding the extra attention and gentleness older pets need. Plus, my flexible schedule and ability to quickly get around the city means I’m reliable for last-minute requests and varied needs. Because I create my own schedule, pet care fits seamlessly into my daily and weekly routine. This flexibility lets me be available whenever your pets need attention—whether it’s morning walks, evening playtime, or weekend visits. It also means I can take last-minute requests without disrupting my day, so your pets get consistent, reliable care that works around your life and mine. I take pet safety and cleanliness very seriously, whether your pet is in my home or yours. My living space is in a gated community with two nearby dog parks, so your dog can enjoy safe, off-leash playtime in a secure environment. My apartment features a covered balcony with no gaps, perfect for supervised outdoor time without any risk. Inside, I keep things comfortable and cozy with soft carpet, cushioned padding, and plenty of pillows and toys—especially for those who need extra support. Cleanliness is a top priority—I use a steam vacuum regularly, so messes are never a big worry and the space stays fresh and sanitary. You can trust that your pet will be cared for in a safe, comfortable, and clean environment.
About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and caring for pets is something I genuinely love. I helped raise my childhood dog from the time I was very young, and she lived to be 17 years old. Through her, I gained experience caring for senior dogs, including providing patience and support during her dementia later in life. I also currently have two cats that I help care for every day. Friends and family have trusted me to feed, play with, and check in on their pets, and becoming a veterinarian has always been one of my dream careers because of how much I care about animals. I currently have a very flexible schedule, which allows me to work around my clients’ needs and availability. Since I’m not working a job right now, I’m able to provide dependable care at different times throughout the day and can stay with your pet as long as needed to make sure they feel comfortable, cared for, and safe. I genuinely love animals and have been around pets my entire life. I have experience caring for both cats and senior dogs, including helping care for my childhood dog who lived to be 17 years old. I understand how important patience, attention, and trust are when caring for someone’s pet, and I’ll always treat your animals with the same love and care I give my own pets.
About: I decided to start working full time again, but have built a great client base over the past year. I have truly enjoyed every dog I have watched. I purely do it because I love the dogs and so does the rest of my family! So if you need a weekend sitter or are okay with me being out of the house during the week, please contact me! I have been pet sitting on Rover since July 2021. I have 11+years experience as a dog owner as an adult. I had a family dog growing up as well. I have also watched friends dogs in my home. I previously volunteered at the fairfax county animal shelter to walk dogs and play with them. Starting 12 September I will be working full time out of the home for about 9 hrs. If your dog can be alone for that long, than I would love to watch your pet. I am also available weekends. I have a small fenced in yard that is paved. However, the neighborhood has green areas and sidewalks to take the dogs on walks. I’m an active person so I can take your dog on walks as often as you request. My two kids love animals, but I am strict about how they play with them and I will not leave them unattended with your pet. Your pet will have free range of the home or if you prefer they can be crated if I have to leave the house.
“Macy is awesome! She is so understanding, patient, and loving with our two labs (including one that takes a while to warm up)! Macy has excellent communication and is always on time, often early. It gives me such peace of mind to see how much our dogs love their weekly walks with her!”

About: I’m a full time flight attendant who only works 3 days out of the week. I owned 2 cats and 1 jackson terrier, but they have crossed the rainbow bridge. I love being active, so I do love when they are playful and have tons of energy. No worries when I’m sitting or walking your pet- I am loving and calm and I know what to do in stressful situations. I believe pets are the best companions anyone can have especially when you build a bond with them! This fits right into my schedule as I’m pretty open many hours of the day + I don’t have extreme responsibilities to attend to on a day to day basis. I’ll make sure to follow each direction listed for and make sure I understand each pet before I take on a a sitting job. Please let me know anything I need to know before hand. Communication is important!
About: Hi! My name is Sarah. I grew up taking care of our family dog, rabbit, guinea pigs and fish. I feel comfortable and confident walking/caring for all different sizes and ages of dogs due to previously working for a dog walking/pet sitting company in the NOVA area during 2016-2017. During that year, I was also was responsible for overnight stays, and day time cat visits. My primary experience with pet care since that time has been taking care of my own dog (his name is Rudy, he is a toy poodle who has been the best friend we could dream of for almost 10 years and counting). I am in the medical field and am currently in between jobs, which allows my schedule to be flexible. I am available every weekday (and most weekends). For house sitting, I will keep to your desired schedule. I can stay and keep your pets company all day (as long as my Rover schedule allows, feel free to ask me!) or visit multiple times throughout the day before staying overnight. For dog walking, your dog’s safety is my top priority. I will avoid other dogs and if walking 2 dogs at the same time, I use a waist leash. I prefer to use a harness and non-retractable leashes (when available). Before or after their walk, we can also play fetch/play with toys inside or outside (if you have a fenced in yard). For cat visits, I am happy to clean their litter boxes, feed them, and play with them inside your home (only if they are interested, of course!) For either dogs or cats, I am able to administer oral or injectable medication if needed.

About: Hello! I'm a devoted dog lover who treats every pup like they're my own. There's nothing I enjoy more than showering dogs with affection and making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you're away. I know how important your furry family member is to you, so I'm committed to following your routines and instructions to a tee. Whether your dog thrives on structure or just needs some extra cuddles, I'll make sure they feel completely comfortable and at ease with me. And because I know you'll miss them, I'm happy to send plenty of photos and updates throughout the day so you can see just how much fun they're having! As someone who loves the outdoors and exercise, I'm always ready for long walks or backyard playtime. I genuinely believe every dog deserves daily exercise and enrichment, and I have the energy and enthusiasm to keep up with even the most playful pups. I can't wait to meet your four-legged friend and give them all the care and attention they deserve! I work a flexible hybrid schedule, which makes me ideal for pet parents needing drop-in walks, home visits, or house sitting. I know that boarding facilities aren't right for every pet, so I'm happy to care for yours in the comfort of their own home. With experience handling reactive and special-needs pets, I understand when staying in a familiar environment is the best choice. While you're away, I'll keep your pet's routine consistent and ensure they feel safe and comfortable. I keep my calendar updated to reflect my in-office days. I'm typically available on weekends and weekday daytime hours. If you're facing a long workday, a busy weekend, or are concerned about leaving your pet alone for extended periods, I'm happy to help with check-ins and care as needed. I work from home most of the time, which means I have wonderful flexibility to spend quality time with your pup! I'm especially available for late morning and midday visits, so your dog will never have to wait too long between potty breaks, meals, or playtime. I am usually in the office on Wednesdays but I aim to keep my calendar as updated as possible. Safety is always my top priority. I'm naturally cautious and attentive, always thinking ahead to prevent any potential issues before they happen. I've received training in dog body language, so I can usually quickly pick up on when a pup needs space, comfort, or extra playtime. My own reactive, special needs dog has been an incredible teacher. I've learned to be especially mindful during walks and around other people or dogs. I also know that dogs pick up on our energy, so I aim to stay calm and composed in every situation to help your pup feel secure and relaxed.
“Excellent walk! Bella was instantly drawn to Sweta and I was very comfortable with their first walk together! Grateful for Sweta’s availability in a lay minute pinch!”

About: Hi! My name is Jasmine, and I’ve been pet sitting—mainly dogs—for the past 6 years. I have experience with all types of dogs, from energetic puppies to senior dogs who need a little extra care and patience. I’m comfortable with a wide range of personalities, sizes, and needs. I’m also a big fan of cats—I truly don’t mind them at all and love a cute cat-and-dog combo! I genuinely love animals and always look forward to meeting and bonding with new pet friends. I’m 24 years old and currently work in healthcare, which means I’m required to be at work at least two days a week (Mondays and Wednesdays). Outside of that, I have a flexible schedule and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to your pets. I’m more than happy to house sit—I actually do it often while caring for pets. I enjoy creating a calm, safe environment where your pets can feel comfortable while you’re away. I also love going on long walks, playing, and keeping pets active and happy. At home, I have 5 pets of my own—all boys! My oldest is 14 and my youngest is 9, and they’re truly my babies. Caring for them has given me even more love and understanding for animals of all ages. I’d love the opportunity to care for your pets and become their new friend! I work 12 hours shifts currently at a hospital only on Mondays and Wednesdays. My shift starts at 7:00 AM and end at 7:30 PM so I do not have the time to tend your babies those days! Other than that I am available any other days out of the week to drop by or to even house sit! At the moment I do not do dog sitting at my house because I have construction going on and do not want them babies to get anxious! I do not mind dropping by or house sitting while you’re gone at all! I do a bit of tidying up if needed if the animals make a mess or do some slight laundry if they have an accident on some blankets or sheets! I love cuddles and love when animals sleep with me if they’re comfortable or allowed on the bed! All I require is if you have a dog who can be a bit anxious or aggressive please let me know so I can be prepared! I have taken care of aggressive dogs but I’ve also been bit pretty bad by them.
About: While I recently decided to make my pet sitting services official through Rover, I bring over 20 years of hands-on experience caring for animals of all ages, temperaments, and needs. From raising my own dogs and cats in their playful puppy/kitten years through their senior stages, to extensive volunteer work with animal shelters, caring for animals has always been a huge part of my life. I’m especially experienced with anxious pets, and I’m comfortable administering medications and providing senior care for both dogs and cats. Friends and family often refer to me as the “dog/cat whisperer” because of my ability to quickly build trust with animals of all personalities. I pride myself on being dependable, observant, and detail-oriented, so you can feel confident your furry family members will be safe, loved, and exceptionally well cared for while you’re away. Whether your pet needs extra patience, specialized care, or just lots of love and attention, I treat every animal as if they were my own. I’d love to meet your fur baby! Schedule: I’m currently between jobs and have pretty flexible availability, especially during normal working hours. I am happy to discuss your specific scheduling needs as well! Building trust: I am very encouraging of a meet and greet so I can build trust with your fur baby prior to being solo with them. This is also very helpful to get acquainted with your space and any specific requests you may have.
Newington dog parents share their Rover experiences
Kyle has been an outstanding dog walker. He is extremely attentive, always on time, and clearly cares about the dogs he works with. It gives me a lot of peace of mind knowing my dog is in such good hands. Highly recommend Kyle to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog walker!

Kayla was our regular dog walker for our very energetic dog, and was fantastic. She was a wonderful communicator, and cared for our dog really well. Our dog has a lot of energy, but Kayla handled him well and always sent photos and let us know of anything she noticed during the walk.
