“When I got home Ali seemed so happy. I am so glad I was able to find a good walker and look forward to continuing their help! Ali loved grant and it was so nice to know they liked her too!”

“Hannah is absolutely awesome! I booked her for a week to care for King, and she was incredibly timely, engaging, and focused on his needs every single day. She provided detailed notes after each visit, sent wonderful photos during their walks, and even left a sweet, handwritten thank-you note at the end of the booking. To top it off, when another walker had a last-minute transportation emergency this morning, I contacted Hannah, and she went completely out of her way to come out and help us on short notice. She is always responsive, highly professional, and truly cares about King. I cannot recommend her enough!”

“Isabella is great! She's very responsive, flexible to help with added walks on unexpected days that pop up during the week, and she takes extra special care of my pup who can be stubborn at times and sensitive to heat. Highly recommend!”

“This was a very last minute booking, but I gad recently used them for boarding so I was very comfortable knowing that they already had a relationship with one of my dogs. Took pictures! Showed great enthusiasm to come walk the dogs!”

“Leah has been an absolutely amazing dog walker for our pup!! I was so impressed with her professionalism from the start and she has been so consistent and thorough in providing the best care for our dog. She is a great communicator and you can tell she really cares about taking care of animals. She has put my mind at ease on a daily basis knowing my pup is receiving the best treatment and attention. I could not recommend Leah enough!”

About: Hi! My name is Sarah. I grew up taking care of our family dog, rabbit, guinea pigs and fish. I feel comfortable and confident walking/caring for all different sizes and ages of dogs due to previously working for a dog walking/pet sitting company in the NOVA area during 2016-2017. During that year, I was also was responsible for overnight stays, and day time cat visits. My primary experience with pet care since that time has been taking care of my own dog (his name is Rudy, he is a toy poodle who has been the best friend we could dream of for almost 10 years and counting). I am in the medical field and am currently in between jobs, which allows my schedule to be flexible. I am available every weekday (and most weekends). For house sitting, I will keep to your desired schedule as my Rover schedule allows (as I will likely need to leave a few times during the day for other pet visits). I am comfortable staying overnight in your home. For dog walking, your dog’s safety is my top priority. I will avoid other dogs and if walking 2 dogs at the same time, I use a waist leash. I prefer to use a harness and non-retractable leashes (when available). Before or after their walk, we can also play fetch/play with toys inside or outside (if you have a fenced in yard). For cat visits, I am happy to clean their litter boxes, feed them, and play with them inside your home (only if they are interested, of course!) For either dogs or cats, I am able to administer oral or injectable medication if needed.
“Macy is awesome! She is so understanding, patient, and loving with our two labs (including one that takes a while to warm up)! Macy has excellent communication and is always on time, often early. It gives me such peace of mind to see how much our dogs love their weekly walks with her!”

“Sofia is the best! Our pup loves her! She is flexible with scheduling and is super friendly! 10000/10 care provided for Knox! We have already rebooked with her and cannot recommend her enough!! 🙃🐾 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Brianna is a great dog walker!! She is very quick to respond to messages and took the lead organizating the meet and greet. She was available on pretty short notice, which was such a relief. Brianna was immediately comfortable with my 150lb dog, which means she is comfortable with any dog! She is a great dog walker and I will be using her regularly!”

About: Fairly new to Rover but not to dog sitting!!! Previous Yorkie and Rottweiler owner. I have cared for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Looking for new families to support and doggies to play with! I work fully remote from home, which means I am the perfect victim for someone's fur baby who needs constant attention and cuddles!! My schedule is pretty flexible, and so I can easily accommodate walks, potty breaks, boarding, and play sessions. I tend to each pet differently, as they each have different needs. A pet's safety and comfort is my top priority and if there is a preferred routine by the owner, I have always been told I follow directions very well! Otherwise, I am always mindful of each dog's personality and boundaries and will adjust to their needs accordingly whether that be in my home or yours.
About: Growing up with pets and currently living with family dogs, including two adults and four puppies has given me hands-on experience with all stages of a dog's life. As an active youth soccer coach and language teacher, my approach to dog walking centers entirely on safety, patience, and clear communication. When I am out on a walk with your pup, my focus is 100% on them. I am highly vigilant about my surroundings, ensuring we avoid busy traffic, unleashed animals, or items on the sidewalk they shouldn't eat. I am incredibly patient with dogs that love to pause and sniff, and I have the stamina to keep up with high-energy breeds that need a faster pace. You can always count on receiving detailed updates and photos after every single walk so you know exactly how your dog's outing went! Because I work as a language teacher and youth soccer coach, my days are structured around distinct, predictable blocks of time. This structure allows me to seamlessly fit pet care into my morning window (6:00 AM – 11:00 AM) and my midday window (12:00 PM – 3:00 PM) before my evening practices start. I update my Rover calendar weekly to align perfectly with my teaching lessons and coaching sessions. This ensures that when I am booked for a walk, I have zero outside distractions and can dedicate my full attention to your dog's exercise and safety. Since I only offer dog walking services, I focus entirely on providing exceptional care at the client's home. Before entering, I carefully review the owner's entry instructions to ensure the home remains secure. Once inside, I greet the dog calmly, properly secure their collar or harness, and double-check that the leash is safely attached. After our walk, I ensure the dog has fresh water, wipe their paws if needed, and securely lock the client's door exactly as requested. I always send a detailed Rover card update with photos before leaving.
About: I’ve worked with other dogs before and genuinely enjoy making them happy. I also love observing how well I get along with them and forming connections with them. It fits perfectly because I work with dogs every day, and I love coming back to hang out with them every chance I get. I love making connections. I ensure that they have access to certain things and refrain from feeding them anything that could make them ill. Additionally, I provide them with information about the activities they can engage in to prevent them from falling sick.

“Melissa was so patience, gentle and kind to my American Bulldog while I was away at the beach for the week. She took things slowly with him, understanding that he's not trusting of all humans. In turn, Otis warmed up to her very quickly, which made my vacation so much more relaxing! She made sure he had everything he needed, and gave him lots of praise and love. I cannot recommend her highly enough!!”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
