“Telma and as great! My pup took to her immediately and was excited to see her daily. She provide updates and kept him active thru the day! Can't thank her enough, for coming through when I was in a bind”

“I am convinced that I have never met a more kind human on this blue rock called earth. She came through last minute for us big time. She was so kind to my cowardly little pit bull and gave her the time and care she needed. To say Veronica is the best choice for anyone to call is an understatement of epic proportions. Thank you so much ma'am! You are truly a gem!”

“Benja is an amazong dog sitter! She sent photos and videos throughout the day. Ollie was an extremely gracious buddy for Lollipop throughout the day and very kind to share toys and play with her. My dog came back happy and tired. I would highly recommend Benja for any dog and will happily be leaving my dog with her and her wonderful family again!”

“We had to attend the funeral on the weekend and we were very late. Azaria was very flexible and make us feel comfortable. She had good care of our dog. I would love to ask her again next time. Thank you !”

“Megha and Irene were amazing! They sent us photos of Trixie and she seemed very happy. Thanks again both of you - for making my T feel at home and giving me peace of mind!!”

“Milo had a great time with Marcela. Marcela is a very kind and gentle person and Milo look an immediate liking to her. She look after Milo with great care since he is a 3 month old puppy. When he came home he was cheerful. Marcela was very prompt in picking him up and dropping him - I am surely going to continue Marcela’s services based on her availability. Thanks Marcela! From Milo and Jay!!”

“Jen is kind and caring about the dogs she sits. Her older dog and Bella do well together. So does the other dog who is also older than Bella. And she has enough indoor space and outdoors on deck and grass for the dogs to have variety in their surroundings. She also walks them 2 or 3 times a day, another plus. And her doggie healthy biscuits that she bakes has Bella begging for more!!”

About: I work remotely in IT, which means I'm home all day and have plenty of time to give dogs the attention they deserve — walks, playtime, feeding, and just good company. We have an extremely friendly Labrador at home who loves meeting new dogs. In the rare case they don't click right away, I can easily keep them in separate rooms until they get comfortable — but honestly, that almost never happens. Neighbors and friends have trusted me with their pets for years. Your dog will be in good hands. I work remotely full-time, so I'm home all day every day. Dogs in my care get consistent attention throughout the day — regular walks, playtime, and company. No long hours alone. My schedule is flexible and adapts to whatever the dog needs. I'm home all day working remotely, so your dog is never left alone for long. We have a friendly Labrador who's great with other dogs and helps new guests feel at ease quickly. There's a dog park literally 30 seconds from our front door — perfect for off-leash runs and socializing. Daily walks and park visits are part of the routine. If dogs need a moment to warm up to each other, I separate them into different rooms until they're comfortable — though in my experience that's rarely needed. I keep a calm, structured home environment, always make sure fresh water is available, and follow any feeding or medication instructions the owner provides. Updates and photos are sent throughout the day so you always know how your pup is doing.
“Garrett, Ana and their children were wonderful with Piper. They treated Piper like a member of their family. I would definitely recommend and call on them again.”

About: I’ve taken care of my German shepherd since he was 8 weeks old as well as my wife’s 8 year old dog and our cat. I also have dog-sat for friends many times! I’ve also ‘fostered’ my friends’ pets while they are on deployments (4+ months at a time) I am here to cater to whatever your pet’s needs are, with lots of love and patience! I’m currently a college student while my wife works so I will have plenty of free time to look after your pet! I’m able to do multiple walks/day and spend time playing with them as much as they need! I have a fenced yard, lots of toys, and a very walkable neighborhood. For those of you ok with having other pets in the house, mine are super friendly and will love having another around!
“My pup Lucy loved her time with Michelle! Michelle has great communication and was flexible about drop off and pick up times. Very easy to work with. Highly recommend!”
“Asia has been amazing. She is very flexible with her doggy daycare scheduling, and is awesome with animals. Carmelo, my dog, loves going there, he loves playing with her dogs and the other dogs. He loves running and playing in her large backyard, a plus for us, since we reside in a condo. Carmelo has been going for two months, I feel at ease when he's there. Asia sends me pictures and responds to me in a timely manner. I highly recommend her doggy daycare.”

“Tamara recently watched my puppy, Zek, and did an exceptional job. She was attentive, loving, and communicative throughout the entire time. Zek enjoyed every moment with her and felt comfortable in the cozy environment she provided. I was impressed by her care and dedication, and I would highly recommend Tamara to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter.”

About: I grew up in a home with dogs. And most recently, had a fur baby of our own for 12 years. I work from home so that I will be able to give your fur baby the attention they need and deserve. I provide attentive, personalized care which is shaped by more than 12 years of being a dog owner. I typically work from home (during the week), so I am available to provide many potty breaks and to give them attention that they want/need. On the weekends, I typically at home - so your fur baby will receive a lot of attention and care. Hope to hear from you! I live in a single-family home with a yard in a dog-friendly community with walking trails and grassy areas. Your fur baby will feel right at home! Your fur baby's typical day will be a long walk in the morning, 2-3 afternoon walks and a long walk in the evening. I love being outdoors so if that is what your fur baby enjoys, we will definitely have outdoor time!
“Elizabeth was delightful. I scheduled this as a meet and greet. She was very patient with Chewy as he sniffed around the house. We all went for a walk around the neighborhood and Chewy became more used to her.”

About: I have had pets since I was a small girl, both dogs and cats. I have watched neighbors pets, taken care of my family's pets, and had my own dogs and cats all of my life. I am a pet parent to a 10 year old Chihuahua named Tito. I have been going on Rover walks with my daughter for months and I love it so decided to be a walker myself. I love animals and will take the best possible care of your sweet babies! I am a retired Air Force nurse and have a great work ethic. I have lots of time to be with animals. I am very energetic, love to walk and enjoy caring for all pets. I have the time and energy to give pups and kitties attention throughout the day and on weekends. Pet parents know their babies the best, so I take instructions very seriously. I am very respectful of people's homes and would be careful to follow all instructions to the letter. My goal is to keep your pet's routine as consistent as possible so they have the best experience.
“She was welcoming very accommodating because I had a puppy and both my boys loved her. She kept me in the loop throughout the day I will def be booking her again soon! Thanks Jona”

About: If I could do life all over again, I would be a veterinarian and run a shelter. I’ve had pets of all kinds my entire life and sometimes like them better than some people, if we’re being honest. 😉 I have volunteered and fostered for a well known local animal rescue for the past several years, taking in fosters and getting them ready for their forever home. I love nurturing dogs from being unsure and scared from shelter life, to being happy, loved and confident. I currently have 2 dogs, a senior Yorkie and a young GSD mix. They are my children, and yours will be too! I have had pets cross the rainbow bridge and it taught me a lot about senior care and medications, so you can feel confident with that as well. I’ve used Rover as a client and I give to my fur-families what I expected from my walkers/sitters - PEACE OF MIND knowing your baby is safe, happy, loved and spoiled. I work from home and have good flexibility with my schedule. My backyard is townhouse small. It's great for potty breaks, but not running around. We take several walks a day for exercise and enrichment. Safety and comfort are my top priorities, so please note that I do not consider pets without a full profile, temperament description, full vaccinations, vet information, etc. Also, my home has all hardwood floors, so dogs with a fear of them, probably wouldn't be very happy here. 😢 Lastly, I am unable to board (for overnight or daycare) any dog, puppies included, that is not FULLY house trained. I have my own consulting business and work from home full time. On occasion I'll have lunch meetings or errands to run, but never for more than a couple hours. I have a small fenced yard for potty breaks. My dogs are dog and people friendly, but will give signals and respect for personal space.

Kimberly is Amazing...She will go above and beyond to make things easy for you and your pet. My dog can be apprehensive when meeting new people and was perfectly comfortable meeting and staying with her🥰. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone to take care of their pet.

Tamara is very reliable dog seater. Communication and accommodation flexibility is to be dependable. Kingsley had a very good time for being first time for him to be cared by Tamara. We are very happy with Tamara. Thank you so much Tamara for caring Kingsley yesterday.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
