“I'm really glad I found Nikhita because she was wonderful - easy to communicate with and made the whole process easy. She's flexible along with having a welcoming, clean home that our 6-month old puppy was very comfortable to be in. We'll definitely reach out to Nikhita again in the future!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life. I enjoy taking care of animals, spending time with them. I’m willing to work with your puppies or senior dogs providing good care. I have a lot of free time right now and would love to spend it helping take care of other dogs whether that’s walking them, playing with them or simply giving them attention. And making sure they are well cared for! I have a fenced and spacious yard. My home is dog-friendly, clean and safe. I’ll keep you updated on your fur baby with photos, videos and messages.
“This was the first time in 12 years I have used a dog sitter, and it will not be the last time because of Rebeca and Roman. They were very responsive from the beginning of the Rover process, and they continued throughout the four days I used their services. Rebeca greeted us every morning and afternoon with a smile. After the first day, Maple could not wait to get to Rebeca, literally jumping from my arms to her arms when we arrived at Rebeca/Roman’s home. I received a daily picture and even a video of Maple during the day. I had no concerns during the four days of daycare because of the pleasant attitude, daily photos, and Maple’s behavior before and after her time with Rebeca and Roman. Overall, a great experience. I will 100% use Rebeca and Roman again!!!”

“My dog and I just moved to a new area so I was anxious about finding someone to watch him while we get settled. Jennifer and Justin were so kind and sent me plenty of photos throughout the day. They even very kindly washed his bowl after he ate his food. My dog had an amazing time and I would trust them to watch him again”

“I am convinced that I have never met a more kind human on this blue rock called earth. She came through last minute for us big time. She was so kind to my cowardly little pit bull and gave her the time and care she needed. To say Veronica is the best choice for anyone to call is an understatement of epic proportions. Thank you so much ma'am! You are truly a gem!”

“Rowan's time with Jessica was amazing! Jessica was very responsive, took pet parents' consent very seriously, and provided a great doggie day care experience. She kept contact with me and took great pictures as well.”

“Alexander was FANTASTIC! He waited outside to pick us up so I could get to work on time. He was very respectful and Cocoa had a blast! He kept us informed the whome day with what was going on with her and posted pics so we could check in on her which gives us peace of mind. We need him permanently!!”

About: I've been around animals my entire life and have cared for both dogs and cats of all ages, from playful puppies/kittens to senior pets. I'm comfortable with different personalities and care needs. Friends and family have trusted me to care for their pets while they're away because they know I'll treat them like my own. I'm patient, dependable, and happy to stick to each pet's normal routine. Whether your pet loves to play or just wants extra cuddles, I'll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. I'm currently looking for a full-time position, which gives me a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to focus on the pets in my care. I'm available throughout the day for walks, playtime, feeding, potty breaks, and lots of attention. I enjoy spending time with animals, so making sure they're happy and comfortable is something I genuinely look forward to. I can easily adapt to your pet's routine and provide consistent care. My goal is to make them feel as relaxed as possible while you're away. I know every pet is different, so I always take the time to learn their routine, personality, and any special instructions before I begin caring for them. Whether I'm in your home or caring for them in mine, I make sure they have a safe, clean, and calm environment. I'll follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, walking routines, and any house rules you have. I also believe in keeping pet parents updated with regular messages and photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I treat every pet with the same love, patience, and care.
“This was our first time using Anna, and she took great care of my Chloe! Chloe was right at home with Anna and her family, which enabled me to relax and have a nice trip to the Lake. She communicated promptly and sent me pics throughout Chloe’s stay. I will definitely use Anna again!”

“Jen is kind and caring about the dogs she sits. Her older dog and Bella do well together. So does the other dog who is also older than Bella. And she has enough indoor space and outdoors on deck and grass for the dogs to have variety in their surroundings. She also walks them 2 or 3 times a day, another plus. And her doggie healthy biscuits that she bakes has Bella begging for more!!”

“Vanessa and Geoffrey were so kind and professional with the initial meet and greet for doggy daycare. They sent lots of updates and pictures to put my mind at ease. This was our first in-home dog care experience, and we will definitely be back!”

About: My dog, Mozart, I've had him since he was a puppy. I volunteered in animal shelters for years, and also raised kittens by bottle-feeding. I've pet sitted for friends and family in the past and they were always happy with the amount of attention their pet received. I work from home, so I am available to take care of your furry friend and keep them company all day. I am dedicated to showing attention and taking care of all a pet's needs. I take my dog on 3 walks a day, the latter two being 1 hour or more in time. I feed him a mix of majority raw diet (cooked chicken, raw beef), and keep up on his medication that keeps his joints healthy and him protected from heartworm and tick-borne illnesses.

About: Hi, please call me Jax. I am a 22 year old student living in Alexandria, VA for college. I am from California and I have been around dogs my whole life. My family breeds Rottweilers and Boxers to be highly trained protective dogs, or as we call them, family guardian angels. I am experienced in aggressive dog conditioning and socializing. I have a natural love for the big and cuddly but any dog can capture my heart. I am a very athletic woman so dog care naturally falls in line with how I live my life. I run the 800m and throw discus so I especially enjoy high energy dogs that can keep up with me and need to get a good run in. Additionally, I also have experience working with elderly dogs and I enjoy a leisurely park stroll just as well. My favorite place to jog is Huntley Meadows park in Alexandria which is quite the urban escape. It’s a heavily wooded and gravel paved, nature conservatory that provides perfect shade from summer heat and isn’t typically crowded. I love finding new routes and trails though so if there’s one your pup especially likes, please tell. i care for pets in my home by providing a safe relaxing high trust environment where they are free to roam and be comfortable. I try to do all I can to ensure they don’t feel afraid and also get out to get as much exercise as possible around my work schedule.
“Sara has become a second home for my fur-baby. As soon as we pull up, he can’t wait to get inside to play with his friends. Sara is very kind, responsible and professional. She is super responsive and flexible. I look forward to continuing with her services.”

This was our first sit with Nikhita and it went very well. This was a day sit and Louie seemed to make himself right at home. I loved the fact that Nikhita wanted to do a meet and greet before our scheduled sit date. I felt confident in the care Louie received and we plan to rebook in the near future.
I had such a great experience with her! She and her mom took amazing care of Lulu and Toby while I was away. I really appreciated the consistent updates and pictures, it gave me so much peace of mind throughout the day. You can tell they genuinely care, because every time I picked up my puppies, they were happy, calm, and well taken care of. That alone says everything. I’m so grateful to have found them and will definitely be booking again. Highly recommend!

Thank God for Rebeca! I was super nervous leaving Molly behind, because she isn't used to being away from home or around other dogs, but Rebeca made me feel confident leaving her in her care. She treated her as if she were one of her own pets. There is no doubt that she gives her plenty of affection and attention and she enjoys caring for them. She sent me photos and kept in touch throughout the stay to let me know how Molly was doing. It gives me peace of mind to know that when I'm not home, Molly is in good hands. Definitely recommend them!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Occoquan commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
