“Leo was great with our 12 year old Pitbull, Stewart, while we were out of town for a few days. He came by beforehand to get acquainted, and was very respectful of Stewart's need for slower introductions and limited eye contact. We were sent regular updates and pictures of our sweet pup having a good time without us. Coming home to a calm, secure dog, and a clean house was a huge relief. We'd recommend Leo to anyone, and would certainly pick him again for our Rover sitter.”

About: I’ve been pet sitting for friends for years. I’ve learned that pets have different needs and try to keep their routine as normal as possible. I work full time Mon-Fri but would be available to visit and provide care afterwards. I am flexible and available most weekends. Open to overnights. I respect the home I’m visiting and will only access areas that are permitted. I also follow provided instructions to ensure pets don’t get stressed.
About: Hi! We’re Jessa and Justin, a married couple and local professionals who genuinely love animals. We understand how important it is to trust the people caring for your pets and your home. Jessa works as an optician in Santa Barbara, and Justin is the Operations Manager for a local community park, where he oversees a private off-leash dog membership program. Through his work, Justin has experience interacting with dogs of all breeds, sizes, temperaments, and energy levels. We were devoted dog parents for more than 20 years and recently became empty-nesters after saying goodbye to our beloved 17yo pup, Scootch. Caring for animals has always been a central part of our lives. We have spent years pet sitting for friends, family, and neighbors, and we’re excited to continue sharing our time, care, and love with dogs in our community. Our goal is to provide calm, reliable, and attentive care that helps your pets feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. We believe pets do best when they can stay in their familiar routine and environment, so we focus on making their days as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. We’re experienced with: * Senior dogs * Anxious or shy dogs * Daily walks and exercise * Administering medications * Maintaining feeding and potty routines * Providing companionship, patience, and lots of affection You’ll receive regular updates, photos, and prompt communication so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pets are in caring hands. We’re dependable, respectful, and treat every home with the same care we would our own. We look forward to meeting you and giving your pets the love, attention, and care they deserve. We both work locally in Santa Barbara and maintain reliable, consistent schedules, which allows us to provide dependable pet care. We generally have weekends free, and during weekdays we work regular 8 hour shifts. Justin’s schedule is flexible and can often be adjusted to accommodate midday bathroom breaks, walks, feedings, or check-ins when needed. We prioritize creating a calm, safe, and low stress environment for every pet in our care. When caring for pets in a client’s home, we respect their routines, boundaries, feeding schedules, exercise needs, and any special instructions to help pets feel secure and comfortable while their owners are away. We pay close attention to behavior, safety, leash security, medications, and household rules, and we always keep communication open with regular updates and photos. We’re clean, dependable, and respectful of clients’ homes, and we understand the trust involved in caring for both someone’s pets and personal space. Because of our experience with anxious and senior dogs, we’re especially mindful of creating a calm presence and maintaining consistency and routine.
“Chelsi was great. We we out for about 7 hours while she watched Sheilah. She sent us updates and pictures. Since we were out of town, it was reassuring to have such a competent, confident and friendly sitter . Nothing but praise for Chelsi. We will use her again if the situation arises.”

About: I'm an intuitive and empathetic pet caregiver who truly understands what each animal needs. I've had a dog throughout my entire childhood and adult life, and now I share every day with my 8-pound Pomchi who goes everywhere with me. I specialize in caring for small and medium-sized dogs, and I pride myself on forming close, trusting connections. I even joke that I speak a bit of dog language! In addition to pet care, l also offer house sitting, so your pets can stay in the comfort of their home while I ensure they feel safe and loved. Along with that, I'm happy to help with extra tasks like doing laundry and watering plants, so your home stays in great shape while you're away. I can't wait to give your furry friend the attention and care they deserve. I'm a full time pet caregiver. I have a commitment on Wednesday evenings for 1.5 hours and the rest of the time, I'm devoted to the dogs. I'm a very vigilent dog sitter, I like to keep my eye on them at all times. I like to give them enough playtime and plenty of pets. Tricks for treats and healthy routines are the best tools.

“Our dogs Charlie & Zoe love Cheryl (almost as much as we do)! She's responsible, capable, and caring. We didn't have any worries while we were gone...which is priceless. We highly recommend her, and have no doubt that our dogs will be happy to see her again.”

“Another great job by Debra. She left the house clean and our dog appeared to be well taken care of. Debra was accommodating/flexible with our start time and willing to get up early with our senior dog. She also sent updates and was quick to respond. Thank you!”

“Lana was very attentive and easy to work with. Got plenty of pics of my pup having the best time at home and around town! Exactly the kind of care I'd hoped he'd get”

“Grace was an amazing dog sitter for us during our stay in Santa Barbara. It was our first time using Rover so we were not super prepared on our dog sitting directions, but she went above and beyond in asking us specific questions on the care of our dog and made sure to follow through on all directions that we’ve provided. She regularly sends updates of our dog and was quick to respond whenever we text her. We are very lucky to have Grace as our dog sitter and would recommend any dog parents to use her for their beloved pet(s).”

“We were in Santa Barbara for a dinner party and needed a sitter for Jerry. The request was last minute but Chase made it so easy and effortless Jerry loves Chase immediately and was totally comfortable staying at the hotel room with Chase. We could not be happier with Chase and we’ll certainly rebook Chase next time we’re in Santa Barbara!”

“Zohe took very good care of our fur baby, with regular updates and photos. She obviously cared about our dog and we felt so much better knowing she was safe and sound while we were out of town. Will definitely have Zohe watch our dog in the future!”

“This was my first time hiring Bekah to sit for my dog and she did a great job. I came home to a relaxed border collie which speaks volumes about the care she received. Bekah is communitive, prompt, and respectful. And she left the house clean! I will definitely be using her again.”

About: Taking care of both dogs and cats is something that I have loved doing since I was a young teen. I have also volunteered abroad working at animal shelters in other countries. I feel really passionate about giving them the proper love and care they deserve! I am currently working 8-4pm on weekdays but anytime after that I am free to care for your pets! I will also be free on the weekends! I wouldn’t be able to take care of your pets in my residence, but I would absolutely love to watch over them at yours while you are away!
“Grace was wonderful with my kitty Rory. Rory can be very shy and she warmed up to Grace so quickly which made me feel so much better about leaving her in Grace’s hands. Grace is a wonderful communicator and sent me so many pictures and videos throughout her stay - it was wonderful! Highly recommend Grace to watch any of you pets :)”

“Suzanne was everything you’d want in a dog sitter—a lifetime of experience with animals, including emergency care—she’s responsible, a good communicator, and great with the dogs. I left my home and precious pups without a worry. A good dog sitter has to be about more than your dogs liking them. Suzanne’s background with animals, her wealth of knowledge and decades of experience make her the ideal pet sitter.”

Stefanny is a gem! I feel so lucky to have found her on Rover while visiting Santa Barbara this month. Stefanny took such good care of my kitty while I was away for the weekend. I felt at ease knowing my kitty and home were in caring hands, especially knowing that she is a cat mama herself. Stefanny's energy is very calming and she asked thoughtful questions about my kitty's routine. She sent me daily photos and updates throughout the weekend which was much appreciated. I arrived home to a spotless home and happy kitty. I highly recommend Stefanny!!

We SO enjoyed having Deborah watch our home and take care of our dog. Charlie was genuinely happy when we got home - not just happy that we're home. This isn't always the case when someone new stays, so this is huge. Our house was left in perfect shape, and Deborah was great with communication and updates. We will absolutely look forward to using her again.

Hannah was great with our dog who is very old and has some health problems. We didn’t want to just leave her with anyone. But Hannah has a lot of experience with dogs. She was very sweet and responsive, respectful and our dog liked her! I would definitely use her again.

Mikyla (Kayla) was amazing with our Pomeranian, Sunny. She helped us out on short notice when we went on a long day trip. She came over to meet before which made me feel at ease. Sunny is a dog who needs comfort and someone is attentive. Kayla took notes when we met about Sunny's routine, and on the day of sent lots of updates and cute photos. We were so grateful for her help. Would highly recommend her!

Leo was absolutely incredible with our dog, and we couldn't have asked for a better sitter. He stayed at our house for a week with our 85-pound pit bull, who is the sweetest lovebug but also comes with a lot of... personality. He's incredibly strong, has the energy of a toddler on steroids, loves to jump on people, has no concept of personal space, and struggles with separation anxiety after being a COVID puppy. He's definitely not the easiest dog to care for. Leo handled all of our dog's quirks and special needs with patience, kindness, and confidence. He kept us updated throughout the week with lots of photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind and allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our trip knowing our dog was in such great hands. In the past, we've limited our travel to trips where we could bring our dog because we worried about leaving him with someone else. Finding Leo has been such a huge relief, and it's opened up so many more possibilities for us. We won't hesitate to book him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone who will genuinely care for their pet.

Capri was amazing with our Pomeranian Sunny! She was available on short notice and took great care of him. She's helpful, kind and detail oriented. He's anxious and she made him feel right at home with her. Our family was able to go on a whale watching adventure because of her help. We highly recommend her. Thank you, Capri!

CAITLIN is the BEST!! We have two dogs and two bunnies- the bunnies are chill, the dogs not so much. Caitlin however won them over instantly and they ADORE her. I feel so at ease and relaxed when Caitlin is caring for our fur family. She sends lots of pics and truly treats them as if they were her own. The house always looks immaculate when we return. Highly recommend!

Anela was wonderful with our two dogs. Detail oriented and thoughtful about all of their needs. She followed all of my instructions carefully which involved a lot of medications for one of my dogs. She left everything clean and tidy following a two night stay. She is on the younger side but very responsible. I highly recommend her.
This was my first time hiring Bekah to sit for my dog and she did a great job. I came home to a relaxed border collie which speaks volumes about the care she received. Bekah is communitive, prompt, and respectful. And she left the house clean! I will definitely be using her again.

We needed someone to care for our super senior 17 year old that needs multiple oral medications, to be carried up and down steps, and occasionally has accidents in the house and Madison was up for the task for all of it. She took great care of our pup and our home while she stayed here. She was communicative, punctual and responsible. We will definitely use her again in the future.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mission Canyon walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mission Canyon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mission Canyon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mission Canyon. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
