Jessica was great with our large dog. We left for the Thanksgiving holiday and came back to a well taken care of pup and a clean home. I would 100% recommend Jessica to take care of your pets and home to everyone.

Monika recently watched our two dogs and our two rabbits while we were away. One of our dogs has a lot of fear around people he doesn't know and she was great with him and took her time to make sure he was comfortable. She kept in great contact with us and sent lots of great photos. She took our dogs on adventures and gave them lots of love. We were very very happy with the care that she gave our pups and bunnies and would highly recommend her!

I cannot recommend Anny enough! We have used her services twice now, and both times she has gone above and beyond to make sure our fur-babies were well taken care of. She is professional, stays in touch, provides photo updates, and most importantly - our dogs love her! If you are looking for the perfect sitter, look no further than Anny!

About: Hi, my name is Basilia, I also go by Juno. Although I don’t have any formal dog experience, I have grown up around dogs all my life. I have experience house/dog sitting for my friends and neighbors in high-school, and even more experience taking care of my families big dogs. Further, I have some experience taking care of senior dogs, as my late Akita spent nearly 5 years on intensive medication. I love playing with dogs, taking them on walks, going to the dog park, and making life good in the safety of their own homes. I’m a student at Santa Barbara City College, but my flexible schedule allows me to spend plenty of time with your animals! I have at least 2-4 hours a day available to spend playing with, walking, or otherwise taking care of your babies. I prioritize pet safety in my care. I listen carefully to your rules about where the animal is/isn’t allowed to go, and can provide intensive support for your animals. I make sure to spend time building trust with the animal using treats or soothing methods upon meeting them, so that they feel safe and comfortable around me.

About: I've always loved animals. I have two dogs of my own. As a dog walker, I am careful and put safety first, as I do with my own dogs. I am detailed oriented so if you give me specific directions, I'm going to execute accordingly. I am patient and flexible and respond well to the unexpected. I am reliable and hold my word with the utmost integrity. I practice positive reinforcement when working with dogs. I believe in the importance of dog socialization and regular exercise and think that long walks are so important. While we all have jobs, I'm excited to help you relieve any anxiety and give your doggy the care and attention she/he needs. I look forward to sharing my love with your doggy companion! <3 I have two dogs (a large and a medium size dog) but am in Santa Barbara working toward a PhD so my doggies are at home in San Francisco with my partner. On the upside, I have very flexible schedule, lots of love and care to give to dogs, and lots of experience with working with dogs! My home is dog friendly. My first dog used to live in Santa Barbara with me but once we got our second dog, we decided to keep them in San Francisco, where they have more space. I am a PhD student, therefore my apartment's size is proportionate with my meager PhD income. But, I live right next to beach and trail access. I also have a car with dog friendly seatbelt to take dogs to farther parks and hikes. I have a love for all animals, and treat all animals with care and attention. This is the same attention I will give to your pet. I'm used to active dogs, dogs needing medical care or strict schedule, anxious dogs, and am always willing to learn on the job!

About: I've taken care of family and friend family pets growing up. My mom set up daycare for children and families would bring their pets often. (Watching my mommies growing up was my first experience and I now enjoying caring for others on my own leisure time) On my personal time, I've taken care of colleagues and friends family pets. My chihuahua will come with me on home visits otherwise I will require 1 hour break to go home to feed/walk my furbaby. I live by Bacara, I have the backyard that leads to Ellwood preserve. I do not use dog food to feed due to the high sodium, I cook meals using protein, veggies and Japanese potato. I'm happy to walk/care for family pets starting at 6am and latest walk at 6pm unless you are requesting overnight. Bed time is by 9pm or earlier. I have trim pets hair and given baths, this is complimentary for overnight stays even for 1 day. I have the materials and only cut hair by hand. I will keep majority of the hair 🙂 so you will not return surprised, your furbaby will look rejuvenated and polished 💖 I treat all furbaby as my own and cook extra portion for yours. I will walk the dogs together, 3 max at a time including my chihuahua. My chihuahua is allowed everywhere in my home so your furbaby is allowed to go anywhere except for kitchen when I'm cooking. Walks happen every 4 hours unless we are sleeping. I do not crate any furbaby so will not take you if this is something you request, I believe family pets should be included so will be in couch or bed. If they are in the floor every room has a fluffy bed. I do not have cat climbing build, only fuzzy beds! 🐾

About: ** My next available dates for Board & Train are January 6-11 & 18-24th within 15 mins of central Austin. I have a BA in Photography from the University of Texas at Austin, so I can take really great pictures of your pets, but most importantly, I am a high functioning, detail oriented empath with over 6 years of full-time canine training experience. My specialty is with sporting dogs and fear/hyperactive cases of all kinds, but I also have some training experience with cats and horses. I am based in Austin, Texas and will be doing training as I travel the US seasonally. I just completed 4 months in the St. Louis area, and am currently working through the end of November in the Vail Valley of Colorado! Check me out at Super Simple Dog Training. My base housesitting service offering will give you peace of mind knowing that your dog's "non-ideal" behaviors will likely get a little better, depending of the duration of the stay; This outcome is simply based on my normal behavioral expectations and keeping the undesirable behaviors from continuing to be a daily habit. If you are need of a combination of training and in-home boarding/housesitting, I offer my Board & Train Service to those who have completed 2 or more private training sessions (zoom sessions do the trick). If you would like to learn more about how the B&T program works, feel free to drop me a line and we can set up a complimentary introduction chat! I am a full time dog trainer and have been for the past 6 years. Your pet and home will have my full attention during the contracted stay. At this time, I only offer boarding services at the home of the client. This is because dogs learn visually and situationally, so it's important for the training work to be done in the animal's home in order to get the most bang for your buck.

About: I’ve had animals in my life since I was born. I’ve had bunnies and cats and fish and dogs and birds. I’ve learned great ways to meet each of these animals with gentle and respectful care. I primarily work Monday-Wednesday 11am-8pm. I’m much more available in the evenings and weekends to take care of beloved pets. Pet walks would be most accessible on Thursdays-Sundays. I do not offer pet care in my home, I don’t have pets because I live in a very tiny apartment and know that’s not conducive for their wellbeing. In my client’s home, I show the utmost respect and care for their items, animal care needs and I triple check that I leave everything clean and locked.

Ellie was amazing with my kitty and senior doggo. She listened with care to all of my care instructions, sent detailed updates everyday, and was so gentle and caring with my girls. My senior dog struggles with incontinence and some medical issues, and Ellie helped her with grace and empathy. She met all of their needs and more, spending time in the sun with the girls and and offering pets and cuddles. She was also super responsive and flexible when I had some flight delays impacting my return, and had my place clean and tidy upon my return. 11/10, would recommend!

Suzanne was everything you’d want in a dog sitter—a lifetime of experience with animals, including emergency care—she’s responsible, a good communicator, and great with the dogs. I left my home and precious pups without a worry. A good dog sitter has to be about more than your dogs liking them. Suzanne’s background with animals, her wealth of knowledge and decades of experience make her the ideal pet sitter.

About: A good chunk of my childhood was spent on a farm so being around/taking care of animals is about as natural to me as being with people. I grew up with all sorts of different animals from reptiles, to rodents, amphibians, birds, fish, and of course cats and dogs. There are probably few animals I haven’t had experience caring for. That being said I am most experienced in caring for dogs, cats, chickens, ducks and rabbits. Though I love all animals, dogs hold a special place in my heart. When I’m not dog sitting, I’m actively fostering for the local animal shelter which is always overflowing. Given my experience with power breeds I tend to take in the hardest cases as I am one of the few fosters in town qualified to handle these powerful animals. I don’t believe there is a such a thing as a bad dog, only those who have been failed by their humans. I am well versed in correcting certain behavioral patterns like dog reactivity however the majority of work needed to make it successful comes from the owners as consistency is key. Aside from reactive dogs, I have also have experience in caring for senior dogs who require round the clock supervision. As your dog ages it gets more and more difficult for them to control their urges so staying on top of bathroom breaks after meals is key to preventing accidents. I’m comfortable administering most medications. At this point you’re probably wondering why I don’t currently have my own dog and the reason is simply because my life is too much in flux at the moment. Next year in August I am moving to Germany for grad school and it is notoriously difficult to move a pet there due to all their restrictions and bans on certain breeds. I’m the sort of person who would rather loose a limb than abandon my pet so right now it’s just not in the cards for me. That is why I love this job so much, it feeds my soul to be around dogs and is rewarding beyond words to take care of them. I study applied physics at CSUCI twice a week from 10am-4pm during the semester which gives me the ability to provide your pet with round the clock care most of the week. Currently as it is summer I have full availability to take care of and play with your pet! *** Recently the safety of our dog at home was compromised by a dog that was brought into the home under a boarding request. Placing any pet in a new unfamiliar environment without a familiar anchor can be a stressful experience which produces unknown behaviors in animals that can sometimes result in the one we experienced recently. For this reason going forward I will only offer boarding services to established relationships. That being said I am happy to pet sit at your home with the intention of building a connection that will allow me to determine if they would be a good fit in my home in the future. I was raised by a Japanese mother who taught me the importance of being a good guest in someone else’s home. That can mean a lot of things to different people, but to me it means being quiet, clean and responsible. No loud sounds (TV, Voices, or Music) Before the hours of 8am and after the hours of 10pm. It means leaving the space as I found it or in better condition. It’s not bringing guests over to a space that isn’t mine, or helping myself to your things. Ultimately, it is about honoring your space and treating it with dignity, not as my own personal bedroom. Having said all that, if you think we could be a good fit please do not hesitate to reach out and feel free to read the description below for a sneak peek of what life with your pet is like in my home. *** I am extremely lucky to live in a very spacious home with two large backyards, roughly two acres in all. That is to say, there is plenty of space for your pup to run around, play and just do what dogs do best. We do have two other dogs in the home, one small dog who prefers his space and one extremely sweet English Spaniel whom is safe with smaller animals such as rabbits and cats. As I am in the riviera there is an abundance of wildlife here that I do have to be transparent about. There is also a pool on the property which your dog is welcome to but please consult with me beforehand about any concerns you may have, I’m happy to restrict access if necessary.

FAQs for House Sitting - Summerland

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Summerland on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 942 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Summerland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Summerland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Summerland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Summerland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Summerland. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 99% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
