“Andrea went above and beyond taking care of our dog, Penny. She is an older dog and Andrea made sure she followed her med schedule and had all of the potty breaks she needed!”

“Sandy and her husband were so sweet with our dog who had an injury right before our vacation. Sandy could tell we didn’t want to leave her, and provided lots of reassurance that our dog would be in good hands. Because of the injury she had a lot of extra meds, which Sandy administered easily! Thank you, Sandy and Tony for loving on Sadey! She even got a beach day!”

“We felt so happy and comfortable leaving Stanley with Joritt and his family! Their large fenced yard is perfect for dogs and their home was so dog-friendly too. We appreciated the extra effort it took to take photos and send them to us! Stanley came home a tired and happy dog just like we hoped.”

“Ashly Did a great job with my 2 pups. One is a senior and Ashly handled all her pills and special diet requests with ease. Ashly was always prompt in her response and communications. I loved the photos and little updates. It was much appreciated. Drop off and pick up was smooth as well! I would definitely use Ashly again!”

“Lianne took my old guy in and kept him comfortable while I traveled for a couple of weeks. I think the dog had a more relaxing break then we did. I will be using Lianne whenever I travel. Ziggy was well cared for.”

“Jasmine is Amazing! I was so stressed about being away from my senior pup with medical needs but Jasmine really calmed my nerves with her calm and kind disposition! She took exceptional care of my pup and provided regular updates! I Will definitely request her services in the future!”

About: I have trained two large breed puppies as well as cared for and walked dogs of all sizes. I absolutely love getting outside with all dogs! My schedule is very open, I am currently in nursing school and have a long day on Monday, but aside from that I am around the house frequently and am available. I am very caring for everyone’s pup and will follow all instructions and exceed those as well. I love to get outside and go for walks, hikes, or even just throw the ball!

About: I'm a 26 year old working part-time so I have plenty of time to take care of your pets! I have experience taking care of and training younger dogs and have a young dog myself. I love all kinds of dogs and will take care of your pets like I would my own. I'm working part time so I have varying schedules week to week with lots of time to take care of your pet! I'm always available all day Friday and Saturday morning. I frequently take long walks so your dog will have consistent exercise and frequent potty breaks. I have a private fenced in yard and a very friendly dog that loves playing with other dogs! I can easily crate your dog at night depending on what you prefer. I will follow your dog's routine feeding and care so they are happy and feel at home!
“Hilary is a complete godsend!!!! I have never seen my dog be more taken care of, loved, nurtured and just overall happy, than with Hilary. I cannot begin to express how grateful we are for finding Hilary and for knowing Luna always has a safe, loving place to go to whenever I have to travel for work or just life in general (which I often these days).”

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and have always loved taking care of them. I have a dog of my own and have helped care for pets of all kinds, from neighborhood pups to family cats. I’ve participated in dog training classes, I’m certified in animal CPR, and I’m currently a pre-veterinarian major studying biology. So this isn’t just something I enjoy, I’m truly passionate about it. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and personalities, and I always try to make them feel safe, loved, and understood. Whether it’s a walk, a check-in, or just some company while you’re away, I’ll treat your pet like they’re my own! As a college student, I have a pretty flexible schedule. I have lots of time during the week and weekends to hang out with your pets. Walks, check-ins, playtime, I’d be so excited to do any of these with your furry friends. I love being outside and active, so spending time with animals is honestly the best part of my routine. I’m super mindful about keeping pets safe and comfortable, whether I’m in your home or out on a walk. I always follow care instructions closely, and I’m trained in animal CPR, so I’m prepared for emergencies (just in case!). I’ve also taken pet training classes, so I know how to read behavior and respond calmly if a pup gets nervous or overly excited. My goal is always to make your pet feel secure and happy, and to leave you feeling totally at ease, too.
“Abby is a sweetheart, which when you're sending off your furry family member is exactly the kind of person you want them with. Her cadance of communication was just right for you being on vacation but wanting to check in. She also has a genuine interest in getting to know your dog's quirks and preferences. We will definitely have our dog Harley stay with Abby again.”
“Kylie was so sweet with my golden retriever Otis. She was a clear communicator and kept me updated throughout. It was particularly hot while Otis was with her, so she was sure to take him out for exercise during the cool hours. I felt very confident with Kylie and would be happy to have her watch Otis again.”

“Kaitlyn and her family took such great care of my fur baby!! She made sure to send pictures and gave me updates daily. My pup had a blast on walks and playing in the backyard with her family! She was extremely caring and loving with my dog like he was her own. I highly recommend Kaitlyn as your next sitter!!”

About: I have had dogs in my life of all shapes and sizes since I was young and my love for them has never changed. They are the sweetest of pets and deserve all the love patience and care in the world. I love to have fun with all dogs or just hang out, whatever their needs may be. I currently have an open schedule to care and provide whenever necessary! I do morning and evening walks with my own dog but whenever needed we change it up and adjust. My home has a big fenced yard as well as baby gates at the front door to provide extra security. I have a dog of my own that is very playful and kind plus 2 family dogs that prefer their own time but have a safe and private place for themselves.
About: I've taken care of dogs since I was 10. Friends, neighbors and family have relied on me to walk, feed, bathe, transport and board for many years. I will give your pet as much love, attention, and exercise as I give my own. I am currently working from home, so I have ample time to be cuddle, walk, and entertain your dog throughout the day. My daily routine is very flexible and accommodating for your pet's routine. I have a house with a balcony and access to sidewalks. I never let a dog outside without a leash and will only take a dog to a dog park if it is requested by family.
“Sol was an amazing dog sitter for Peaches! She was incredibly responsive and kept us updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, giving us peace of mind. Peaches was well cared for, going on many walks which made her super happy! I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Sol again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Mission Canyon
Sandra was wonderful to work with and she took great care of our dog Darby! From the start when she offered to do a meet and greet and through his 5 day stay while we went back east for a funeral, she followed instructions, met his needs and was always sweet to him. We appreciated how communicative she was during the whole process and Darby came home energized and obedient because she walked him regularly. We will use Sandra again...and again!
Kylie was so sweet with my golden retriever Otis. She was a clear communicator and kept me updated throughout. It was particularly hot while Otis was with her, so she was sure to take him out for exercise during the cool hours. I felt very confident with Kylie and would be happy to have her watch Otis again.

Tory really helped us out at the last minute and was an awesome sitter for Lilo. Her communication was great and she kept us updated throughout the stay with photos of her and Lilo having fun. I can't say how much I appreciate her and would recommend her as a sitter. Thanks so much, Tory!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Mission Canyon home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Mission Canyon.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Mission Canyon sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
