Lynn and Marty were fantastic sitters for my fur baby. I had been looking for a while for a good fit for my senior dog and ended up finding them a week before my trip. Lynn offered up a phone call so I could talk about the care and treatment I needed. I was so worried to leave my pup since she’d been having some health issues, but when it was time to drop her off, Lynn and Marty and their senior fur baby dog had the best vibes and wanted to make sure my pup was well taken care of. I could tell my pup felt right at home and loved exploring their nice yard. I got regular photos and updates on how she was doing and whether she’d eaten. When I picked her up, Lynn and Marty said they’d miss her and she looked relaxed and happy. I would definitely be a repeat customer and would recommend this gem of a place for pet care 🐾 💕

About: I have been providing pet (dogs, cats, and small animals) and house sitting services in Santa Barbara for the past 5+ years and have worked with many breeds and ages, including senior dogs. I provide individualized and attentive care for your fur babies. I’m dedicated to ensuring your dogs wellbeing while you are away - that means attention, playtime, exercise, feeding, and practicing commands. This is my primary work and my schedule is dedicated first and foremost to pet care. I do not have any pets of my own and do not board more than one dog (or a preexisting pack of dogs) at a time. I am happy to crate your dog if your prefer. I do not have a yard but guarantee numerous walks of varying distance and length, depending on your dog”s needs.

My dog was very relaxed and happy with Maria. My dog's not snuggly but he snuggled up with Maria. Maria sent me photo updates of my dogs every day. She also monitored my dog's potty situation and offered to prepare and feed rice and pumpkin when my dog had diarrhea. She took my last minute boarding request and was very kind and responsive throughout.

Damian was a wonderful friend to George ! I would definitely recommend him if you need someone to take care of your pet. We haven’t left George with many new people and our dog seemed very happy and relaxed in Damian’s care. George had a few special needs and Damian had no problem making sure they were met. He also made it a point to take him out everyday to one of his favorite nature walks (the Douglas Preserve) where he could interact with other dogs, which George loves. Damian has a dog of his own so you can tell he has a love and intuitive understanding for our furry friends. He went above and beyond in care for our dog George! Thanks Damian.

About: I’ve spent over 30 years caring for dogs and other animals, both personally and professionally. My approach is intuitive, compassionate, and grounded in a lifetime of hands-on experience. I run a local Montecito dog walking business, working with dogs of all breeds and specializing in big, athletic, and high-energy dogs. Pet care fits naturally into my lifestyle. As a Montecito-based business owner and endurance athlete, I spend much of my time on the trails and beaches — often with a dog by my side. My lifelong love of animals, combined with my endurance background, makes me especially well-suited for larger or high-energy breeds. I genuinely love bonding with dogs and take pride in being a calm, confident presence — a natural pack leader they can trust. I care for the dogs I walk as if they were my own — with plenty of love, attention, and respect for their individual needs. I’m known for giving dogs the exercise they truly crave, whether that’s an energizing trail walk, a beach romp, or a steady neighborhood outing. I stay fully present and engaged, making sure each walk is safe, stimulating, and tailored to the dog’s energy level and personality.

We are delighted with the excellent care Candice provided our dog Smousy for two weeks during our vacation to the East Coast. She gave us daily updates with photos that put our minds at ease. She took her for wonderful beach walks and hikes and gave our (slightly spoiled) dog much loving attention in her beautiful home. We enthusiastically recommend her services. Five Big Stars!

About: I’ve owned and cared for pets over the course of my entire life. Dogs are my love and bring such joy into my world. I have always had a natural born connection that cannot really be explained. It’s a magnetism and I’m drawn to them as much as they are to me :). I have a deep understanding and knowledge of a variety of health issues that dogs commonly have including bone, joint, heart, GI issues and dietary restrictions. I’ve experienced quite a bit over the course of my life personally caring for dogs with these issues including blindness & deafness, injuries. I’m mature enough and a mom myself to confidently say that your family would be treated as my own would. I have also cared for and owned a variety of birds, fish, reptiles, bunnies, guinea pigs, chinchilla and then some! ;). Your animals would be loved as my own! Happy to do overnight care on somewhat short notice as well. Live in the Mission canyon area and have a gated yard with space for sun bathing and potty breaks/lizard chasing ;). Reliable car, DL, Insurance etc. - open to running errands, helping around the house (can discuss rate). My schedule is flexible and I’m available for boarding as well overnight with a little notice ahead of time. No problem with house sitting I have a gated yard and no pets. Nice neighborhood with friendly neighbors with dogs that enjoy each other. Local trails close by and the Riviera Theater close and other nice doggy friendly locations!

Honey took such great care of our 2 Australian Shepherds. She was responsive, proactive with asking the right questions, and sent plenty of videos/ photos which we really appreciated. Honey particularly went above and beyond by showing us new commands that she had taught the dogs while we were gone. Our pups came home both exhausted (in a good way), behaved, and well satisfied. Lastly, we were especially appreciative when our travel plans unexpectedly changed and Honey agreed to continue watching the dogs for an extra 4 days even when she has personal plans of her own. Thank you so much, Honey!

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up with pets, and over the years I've cared for my own dogs as well as those of friends and family. Loving and caring for animals has never felt like a job to me - it's something that comes naturally. In 2023 I said goodbye to my beloved Boston Terrier, Roscoe, after 16 wonderful years together. Losing him was heartbreaking, and although I haven't felt ready for a new dog of my own just yet, I've deeply missed the companionship, laughter, and unconditional love that only animals can bring. That's one of the reasons I've joined Rover. Caring for these special family members feels like the perfect way to share that love again while helping pet parents feel completely at ease when they're away. What sets me apart is that your pet won't simply be watched - they'll be welcomed into a home where they'll receive genuine affection, companionship, and individualized care. I understand that every animal has their own personality, and I'll take the time to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. My goal is for them to feel like they're staying with family, not just a sitter. I'm currently working from home in Santa Barbara, which gives me an extremely flexible scheduled allows me to be present with your pet throughput the day. My partner also works form home and is a lifelong animal lover, so your pet will always have companionship, supervision, and plenty of affection. Since we're home most of the day your pet will enjoy regular potty breaks, playtime, attention, and lots of opportunities to relax with us. If it's appropriate for your dog and approved by you, I'd also love to take them on at least one 30-60 minute walk each day, along with plenty of outdoor time in our secured yard. I'm happy to follow your pet's normal routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable and at home while you're away. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness will always be my top priorities. Our home is fully fenced and securely gated in both the front and the backyards, providing a safe space for supervised outdoor play, fresh air, and potty breaks throughout the day. We love spending time outside gardening and enjoying our yard, so your dog will have plenty of opportunities to join us while always being supervised. Fresh water is always available, and I'll carefully follow your instructions regarding feeding schedules, medications, exercise, favorite toys, sleeping arrangements, and any special needs or preferences your pet has. Most importantly, I'll treat your pet with the same love, patience, and care I'd give my own. I know how much trust it takes to leave a beloved family member with someone else, and I take that responsibility to heart. You'll get updates during their stay, and my hope is that when you return, your pet will have felt safe, happy, loved, and excited to come back again.

Shalon was wonderful! She accommodated a short-notice booking for our two large pups, who had never been boarded before. She sent frequent pictures and updates throughout the weekend, which really helped put us at ease while we were out of town. Both dogs came home tired and it was clear they had an active weekend. We really appreciated Shalon’s willingness and confidence in handling them for their first stay and keeping them safe. Thanks again, Shalon!

Amber was also excellent at communicating with us so we didn't have to worry about Remy while we were away and was flexible with both drop-off and pick-up. She even joined us on a couple of walks beforehand, which was really helpful. Remy seemed to have a great time with Amber and her family--Amber sent lots of photo updates! Stella was so happy when I picked her up! Usually she is excited to see me but not maybe in the best way like “OMG thank god you are home!” But she was excited to see me but clearly happy — not agitated at all. I think she got on great with Bruno! So I think he made her feel relaxed and happy along with lovely walks and play times with Gurudatt, of course!!!!

Every sitter on Rover has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.

100% of Isla Vista sitters also include daily walks in the neighborhood during dog boarding stays. You can also request photo and message updates throughout the stay so you can see which Isla Vista landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Isla Vista home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Isla Vista sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
