About: I can't remember a time without a furry friend by my side. I literally came home from the hospital to a wagging tail—my family's dog was my first welcome committee, and that set the tone for my entire life. Over the years, I've been lucky enough to share my home with cats, and have owned two amazing dogs who kept me on my toes and filled every day with joy. Each pet has taught me something new about patience, unconditional love, and the unique personality that makes every animal special. My love for animals extends beyond my own four-legged family. I'm a proud supporter of the Santa Barbara Humane Society because I believe every animal deserves a loving home and compassionate care. Giving back to the animal community is something I'm deeply committed to. When you trust me with your pet, you're not just hiring someone who loves animals—you're connecting with someone who understands that pets are family. I treat every dog, cat, or critter in my care with the same love and attention I would give my own, because that's what they deserve. As someone who's self-employed, I have the flexibility to give your pets the time and attention they deserve. I recently said goodbye to my beloved companion, and while I'm not quite ready to welcome a new furry friend into my own home yet, caring for other people's pets has been incredibly meaningful. It keeps me connected to what I love most while giving me the chance to shower someone else's best friend with all the love and care they need. I live in a cozy casita with a secure, fenced patio area—perfect for outdoor playtime and fresh air. Since I work from home, I'm around throughout the day, which means your pet gets plenty of companionship and supervision. I'm also an active person who loves getting out, so regular walks to the park, beach, or around downtown are part of my routine. Your furry friend will get both the comfort of a home environment and the adventure of exploring Santa Barbara's best spots.

About: I’ve owned and cared for pets over the course of my entire life. Dogs are my love and bring such joy into my world. I have always had a natural born connection that cannot really be explained. It’s a magnetism and I’m drawn to them as much as they are to me :). I have a deep understanding and knowledge of a variety of health issues that dogs commonly have including bone, joint, heart, GI issues and dietary restrictions. I’ve experienced quite a bit over the course of my life personally caring for dogs with these issues including blindness & deafness, injuries. I’m mature enough and a mom myself to confidently say that your family would be treated as my own would. I have also cared for and owned a variety of birds, fish, reptiles, bunnies, guinea pigs, chinchilla and then some! ;). Your animals would be loved as my own! Happy to do overnight care on somewhat short notice as well. Live in the Mission canyon area and have a gated yard with space for sun bathing and potty breaks/lizard chasing ;). Reliable car, DL, Insurance etc. - open to running errands, helping around the house (can discuss rate). My schedule is flexible and I’m available for boarding as well overnight with a little notice ahead of time. No problem with house sitting I have a gated yard and no pets. Nice neighborhood with friendly neighbors with dogs that enjoy each other. Local trails close by and the Riviera Theater close and other nice doggy friendly locations!

Aimee is awesome. My dog, Tico, loved her. She is very friendly, reliable, consistent, mature, punctual and a good communicator. She walked Tico for me each day for almost 3 weeks due to foot surgery. I would trust Aimee to take care of my dog if I needed to travel, too.

About: I've had dogs and cats all my life and I'm very sensitive and attuned to their needs. I love walking dogs, throwing balls/frisbees as well as cuddling on the couch. I can play with cats for hours and love scratching them behind the ears until they purr. I offer short or long walks or if you have a more active pet, hikes on the SB trails or visits to the Douglas Family Preserve. For housesitting, I can guarantee your pet will be given lots of love and attention and that their routines will be honored. I teach part-time at SB City College but have a flexible schedule. I look forward to meeting your fur-baby! I am currently teaching part-time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have availability on MWF and most weekends. I can walk dogs in the mornings or afternoons on any of these days. I can housesit every night but cannot stay during the day on T/TH. I care for pets at client's homes. I am an early riser and I tend to your pet's needs first thing in the morning. I take dogs on potty walks right away but can also take them on longer walks as well. I am very clean and always follow directions exactly (I'm a teacher :). You can expect to come home to a clean house and a happy pet!

About: I have always had pets of my own, and began caring for other peoples' pets while I was in high school. I have taken care of all kinds of animals with a variety of needs. I strive to go above & beyond what is expected while caring for your beloved companions. My goal is to make them as comfortable and happy as possible when their people are away. When I commit to do something, I do it throughly & full heartedly. I am lucky to have a flexible schedule, which enables me to provide care for pets at just about any time needed. Caring for my own pets is integrated into my daily schedule so integrating additional pets comes very naturally. I'm happy to travel to the location your pet feels most comfortable, as well as providing pet taxi/transport. I do have a small fenced backyard, but I prefer not to board pets overnight in my own home. I am experienced and happy to pet/house sit during your work trip or vacation. I’m very neat and can ensure you'll return to a clean home.

I can also provide screenshots of reviews upon request. “5-star client satisfaction (Trusted Housesitters) Multi-pet household experience up to 5 dogs + 4 cats Long-term in-home care up to 1 month Overseas housesitting/petsitting experience I have completed approximately 40 house and pet sitting assignments over the past two years, ranging from short-term stays to extended, multi-week care. My experience includes managing households with multiple animals, including up to five dogs and four cats simultaneously, as well as mixed households requiring coordinated feeding, walking, and individualized care routines. I have extensive experience caring for senior dogs and cats, including administering structured routines, monitoring mobility and comfort, and adapting care to age-related needs to ensure safety and stability. I have provided continuous in-home care for stays of up to one month, ensuring both reliable household security and consistent, attentive pet care. Responsibilities have included structured daily walks, feeding schedules, basic care routines, and maintaining the home in orderly condition. Across these sits, I have maintained a 99% five-star rating, reflecting a consistent record of reliability, professionalism, and high-quality care. I am experienced in managing complex, multi-pet environments with attention to detail, safety, and respect for each household’s specific instructions. House and pet sitting is my full-time profession and core area of expertise. I specialize in providing reliable in-home care for pets and household management during client travel, including extended stays of up to one month. My experience includes managing multi-pet households, supporting senior animals, and maintaining stable routines for pets with varying temperaments. This work is my primary occupation, and I bring a consistent, structured approach to every assignment. Option 3 (more personal but still professional) House and pet sitting is my full-time work and what I dedicate myself to professionally. I care for pets and homes while clients are away, with experience across a wide range of animals, including multi-pet households and senior care needs. This role allows me to provide consistent, attentive care and maintain stable routines in the home environment, which is my primary professional focus. I care for pets in the client’s home by following their established routines and instructions closely to maintain consistency and reduce stress for the animals. Before each sit, I consult with the owner to understand each pet’s specific needs, including feeding schedules, walking routines, medical requirements, behavioral considerations, and any household preferences. I prioritize keeping pets in their familiar environment with minimal disruption, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. During care, I provide structured daily routines that may include feeding, fresh water, exercise or walks, litter box maintenance, medication administration when needed, and regular check-ins to monitor behavior and wellbeing. I also adjust my approach based on each pet’s temperament, whether they are social, shy, anxious, or require more attentive support, including senior care considerations. In addition to pet care, I maintain the household as requested, which may include basic home upkeep, security awareness, bringing in mail, and ensuring the home remains clean and orderly. My approach is consistent, detail-oriented, and focused on reliability, communication with the owner, and the overall wellbeing of the pets in my care.

About: I’ve been an owner and caretaker of dogs for my entire life. I’m active, thoughtful and responsible in everything I do. Work with me and you’ll never worry about the quality of your dogs care again. My full time job is an entrepreneurial one. As far as work goes I am flexible and able to come and go as I please. I won’t take offers if I’m not able to be present with your pet. I’ve worked with a variety of dogs. Those that are calm, aggressive, nervous etc. Throughout my years of care i’ve adopted different strategies for different dogs and I’ve proven desirable outcomes. I won’t do anything myself or the owner would not be comfortable with and I follow instructions and preferences diligently. If I assume care in your home I always respect the dog and space as if it was my own. A high standard at that.

Caitlin was amazing! I needed a sitter very last minute due to a family situation. I was nervous to find a walker/sitter on Rover, especially since I have such a large dog but I was in a pinch and Caitlin responded right away and suggested a meet-and-greet. I met her the next day and immediately felt relieved — she has so much experience and such a positive and excitement energy about animals! I left the following day knowing Daisy was in great hands. I appreciated the sweet photos and updates of the fun walks while I was away. I came home to a happy, healthy dog and calming music playing in the background. I honestly cannot express how relieved I felt knowing Daisy was so well cared for. I’m so grateful to now have someone in town I fully trust. Thank you, Caitlin!

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mission Canyon. On Rover:

  • 96% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 99% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
