“Mindy is the BEST!!! She went above and beyond; she cared for and loved my dog like her own, was great with communication, and accommodating. For the first time ever I came home to a happy, calm dog (not a frantic one) and a spotless clean home. Mindy truly made my vacation an actual vacation.”

“Destiny was amazing with our dogs! We have 3 dogs which can be a handful at times but she took great care of them. Put my mind at ease day 1 of our trip. Highly recommend and will be booking again in future!”

“Sophia was so great with our Beau. She followed our instructions to a T, sent us updates on him a few times a day, and even let him convince her to take him on more walks than he usually gets 😂 it was so great to be on vacation and not have to worry that Beau was being taken care of with the same amount of love that we would. Beau loves her and so do we! I couldn’t recommend her enough!!!”

“This is the first time we have used a dog sitter. Previously we had always used relatives to watch our dogs. Since we moved that was not an option. Tamara did a fantastic job taking care of our shy dog. She was able to gain Mia’s trust very quickly. I would definitely use her in the future and would highly recommend her.”

“Shelby was awesome she took care of my 3 little dogs. I have to say she passed the test with the little chihuahua that is scared of everything and he ended up cuddling with her. Shelby took care of the trash, mail and the laundry for the dogs before she left. She also sent me pictures and responded to all my texts. Hopefully she is available for next time.”

“This was our first time using Rover! Kory was awesome in so many ways. She was completely reliable and went over and above to care for our sweet Mr. Oliver and our house! We will definitely be calling on Kory again!”

“Kyrstyn was an amazing pet sitter!! I needed someone on a very short notice and she was so accommodating to our family. Our dogs and cats loved her!! She took excellent care of them and was very communicative and sent pictures every day. We would absolutely use her again on the next time we needed a sitter.”
About: Hello, I'm Corey. I'm ready to work for you and your dogs/cats. Very knowledgeable on all animals! I have had animals for my whole life, ranging from dogs and cats to horses and others. I have been dog training for a few years and am currently in the process of training my dog to be my service dog. If training is something you're interested in, we can discuss that option also. I also worked for a kennel for a bit as well. I'm a great multitasker. I love all animals. I would love to talk more about your needs that you need met. Feel free to contact me. hope to hear from you soon! Holidays, weekends, etc all okay if you want to get away for a bit!

About: I’ve always grown up with dogs but have been dog sitting for several years now. At home my family has two very high-energy dogs so I know what it takes to keep them occupied and exercised. We can have lots of play time if that’s what your dog enjoys or just hangout together around the house if that’s more their speed. You can guarantee on receiving updates and photos of your dog while away if all the fun things we are doing! We will do a long walk or run or playtime in the morning before it’s too hot out. Throughout the day we will have outside time and can do shorter walks or go on adventures together and in the evening another long walk or playtime! My schedule is super flexible. I follow your care instructions so the dog has the same rules and routines while you’re away. I want your dog to be comfortable and have fun while you’re away so you don’t have to worry.
About: Dogs are a gift from heaven. It’s important to understand them and give them the same unconditional respect, compassion and love they give to us. I am a mother of two beautiful dogs one named Simba (with mom in France), and my princess named Angel. She was in the shelter her whole life. I was told it would be tough to accommodate her to a normal life, but I realized that all she needed was to feel loved, safe and mostly by my side forever! She understood from the moment I rescued her that she had a furrrever home :) Also, I’m a dual citizen, French and American, so if your dog comes home speaking French don’t be surprised 😁 Availability is based upon demand. I accommodate as much as possible to make sure your baby will be taken care of at the time needed. Learning more about the pet by asking their owners the routine, character, likes or dislikes, but mostly I observe the pet and follow directions given to me.
“Emily did exactly what we wanted and followed all of our instructions to take care of our 2 cats and 1 dog while we were visiting family for the holidays. She sent tons of cute pictures and communicated with us each day to make sure everything was purrfect!”

“Alex & Dorys were exceptional! They provided frequent updates and sent plenty of pictures. We loved that they spent plenty of quality time with our pets. Overall, it was a great experience for us and our pets! We will definitely book with them again!”

“Lexie is great!! She just completed a 10 day stay with our senior dog who takes medications. This is the second time we’ve used her and we’re very happy and appreciative of her commitment and responsibility to his care. Highly recommend Lexie!!”

About: I have taken care of dogs for most of my life I have walked them and played with them. Helped raise puppies and helped senior dogs take medicine and live their last years comfortably. I have taken care of dogs, cats, and other animals. I have experience feeding all different animals and loving every animal. During the summer I work part time, I am a student at Florida Tech and live right across from the school so when the semester comes I can easily check on the animals when needed. I am home before dinner time most days and currently only work weekend afternoon shifts (12-5). I make aure they are fed when needed and have water. I love giving pets attention and there is a dog park on the apartment grounds I would take them to play at. I listen when a pet asks for something like going outside, and I always make sure litter is cleaned or poop is picked up.

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover with experience caring for both small and large dogs, including breeds such as Yorkshire Terriers, Labrador Retrievers, Goldendoodles, and more. I’ve also owned several indoor-only cats over the years, giving me a solid understanding of feline care and behavior. I know that every pet has a unique personality, and I strive to provide the same love, patience, and attention they receive at home so they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I work from home Monday through Friday about 95% of the time, which allows me to provide plenty of attention, companionship, and supervision throughout the day. Unless I’m traveling for work or on holiday, I’m available for pet care, including during most major holidays. I have a home with a large, securely fenced yard where dogs can safely play and explore. My beloved Thumper, a 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier/Dachshund mix, crossed the rainbow bridge on April 24, 2026. While I no longer have pets of my own, caring for other people’s dogs and cats has become a meaningful way for me to continue sharing the love and companionship that animals bring. Whether your pet enjoys playtime or simply relaxing nearby, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable. Dogs in my care enjoy daily morning and evening neighborhood walks, and they’re welcome to cuddle on the furniture and even the bed if that’s what they’re accustomed to at home. When house sitting, I treat your home with the same respect and care as I would my own. In addition to providing attentive, loving care for your pets, I’m happy to perform light housekeeping, water indoor and outdoor plants, bring in mail or packages, and take care of other small household tasks we’ve agreed upon. My goal is to keep your pets happy, maintain their normal routine, and give you peace of mind while you’re away. When your pet stays with me, they’ll enjoy a clean, comfortable home with plenty of cozy dog beds, a large, securely fenced backyard for zoomies and playtime, and a toy box filled with fun toys. As a special welcome, every first-time boarding guest gets to take home a toy as a souvenir from their Dogcation! I believe pet parents deserve peace of mind while they’re away, so I provide daily photo and video updates, along with a personalized report card summarizing your pet’s stay, activities, eating habits, and overall experience. Because I work from home most of the week, I can offer plenty of one-on-one attention and companionship tailored to your pet’s individual needs. Whether they love to play, cuddle, or simply relax nearby, they’ll receive lots of love and personalized care. I’m highly organized, reliable, and flexible whenever possible with drop-off and pick-up times, including accommodating last-minute schedule changes. My goal is to make your pet’s stay as fun, safe, and stress free as possible for both you and your furry family member(s).

Alexis went above and beyond when i needed her the most. Alexis was amazing with my animals during an incredibly stressful time. My house was on the market and the whole household was on edge, but Alexis handled it all with so much care. My older dog needs daily medication and extra support, and she was incredibly attentive and gentle with her. My younger dog can be wary of new people, but he loved her from the moment they met — which says everything. Even my cats adored her. One of my cats usually hides from everyone and wouldn't go near my old roommates, but he was cuddling with Alexis and letting her pick him up by the end. I was shocked. On top of that, she was so respectful of my home being on the market. She kept everything spotless for showings and made a stressful situation feel manageable. If you want someone who will treat your pets like family and handle your home with real care, book Alexis. I'm so grateful for her and am definitely using her again in the future!

Mindy was wonderful! At our meet and greet she was so organized. Wrote everything down about my dogs needs. When she left I felt so comfortable having her in my home watching my pups. Mindy watched them over the 4th weekend, I knew how one would act cause we've been through fireworks for 6 years but it was the first for my high anxiety German shepherd/Belgian Malinois that I adopted 5 months ago. Well I guess he didn't like them to much, but she was there trying to calm him down the whole time. Mindy kept me updated and let me know when he finally settled down. I couldn't be happier for the care my River and Rumor received. I highly highly recommend Mindy. .

Kyrstyn was an amazing pet sitter!! I needed someone on a very short notice and she was so accommodating to our family. Our dogs and cats loved her!! She took excellent care of them and was very communicative and sent pictures every day. We would absolutely use her again on the next time we needed a sitter.
5 stars again! Ciara is an excellent cat sitter and went above and beyond throughout her stay. She sent regular updates, spent quality time playing with the cats, made sure they were well fed and hydrated, and kept their litter box and areas clean. She also administered medication on a strict schedule and was incredibly attentive to their needs. I would highly recommend her!

We highly recommend Brianna! She watched our three dogs—Tucker, Lacy, and Charlie—for five nights, and we could not have asked for a better experience. From the moment we left, we felt completely at ease. Brianna provided excellent communication, sending us regular updates and fantastic pictures of the dogs looking happy and well-cared for. It was clear our dogs were getting lots of love and attention. She also went above and beyond our expectations by leaving our house spotlessly clean upon our return, which was a wonderful bonus. We will absolutely be using Brianna again! If you're looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy dog sitter, look no further.

This is the first time we have used Jen for dog sitting and we were very pleased. She sent us photos of Dunkin throughout the week and he looked very relaxed. If she had any questions about Dunkin's care and/or the house, she reached out and texted me. Jen made this a very relaxing vacation.

Tina gave consistent care with feeding, potty breaks and medication. Our only reason for giving 4 stars is that our dog was given 3am potty breaks (as evidenced by our doorbell camera) because of Tina's work schedule. That resulted in a disruption of our dog's normal routine. Since returning home, we have had to work on getting her back on "normal" schedule with an approx breakfast/dinner potty breaks.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Melbourne on Rover is $49.4 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Melbourne walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Melbourne maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Melbourne choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
