Pet care experience

From Lecture Halls to Pup Calls

Like many others‚ I've been around animals my whole life, and while being a pet owner naturally teaches you about responsibility and how to take care of an animal, what really helped prepare me and build my confidence to provide reliable professional pet care was working in animal care facilities․ I began working as a kennel technician during my senior year of high school, where I was responsible for feeding animals, administering medications, cleaning kennels, and ensuring each pet received the attention and care they needed․ When I started college, I continued working seasonally during breaks, but eventually transitioned into a job that tailored my college needs. Throughout high school though, I continuously pet-sat for some family friends. I am currently a junior at Florida Tech․ I work as a customer service representative and animal care attendant at Dogspot Hotel․ The great thing about working at the Dogspot Hotel is that I get to interact with clients and their dogs‚ and provide the best service for each animal․ I am comfortable administering oral and injectable medications including insulin‚ as well as handling animals with a variety of medical conditions and behavioral issues․ A little extra about me, I have three dogs, three cats, and a Russian tortoise!

Safety, trust & environment

I currently live in Melbourne‚ in the house that I rent with my roommates‚ and while my roommates have no problems with me having pets, our landlord has stated that they do not allow pets in the house. So any pet care would have to take place outside of my home.

She did great with Baxter. He’s a strong dog and can be quite stubborn but she handled him well. I’ll definitely use her again.

House Sitting • Jun 30, 2026

Kyrstyn was an amazing pet sitter!! I needed someone on a very short notice and she was so accommodating to our family. Our dogs and cats loved her!! She took excellent care of them and was very communicative and sent pictures every day. We would absolutely use her again on the next time we needed a sitter.

Schedule

When school starts up again in August‚ I will be a full-time college student at Florida Tech and working part-time․ My class schedule will be set‚ but my job is very flexible and I will be able to work around my class schedule․ Classes are scheduled mainly four days a week‚ with a mix of morning and afternoon availability. This gives me more flexibility to care for pets, including check-ins throughout the day, or overnight in the case of boarding․

16 to 40 lbs

Before caring for any pet, it’s important for me to know their daily routine, how much they're fed‚ if they take any medications‚ if they have any health issues and what they're like personality-wise (if they're shy‚ active‚ happy‚ anxious‚ scared of anything like loud noises or other animals‚ etc․)․ I also like to know the house rules (if they're allowed to sleep on the couch/bed‚ if they're leash trained‚ if they can be left unattended‚ what their 'okay' and 'not okay' things are‚ etc.)․ It's also helpful to have emergency vet info and‚ the requested form of updates (texts/photos) during the booking․
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
