“Greg was an awesome petsitter and housesitter. He took the most beautiful photos of my dog and cat. They seemed so happy and well taken care of when I returned from my longest ever trip away from them (10 days!) He also took care of some plants and the house in general - everything was in perfect shape when I got home. Will definitely be contacting Greg again for petsitting in the future!!”

“Char and Ben did a fantastic job caring for our sensitive rescue dog! The daily photos and updates gave us so much peace of mind, and it was clear our girl was relaxed and happy in their care. 💕”

“Melinda did a wonderful job caring for my two dogs and cat over the weekend. My very energetic dog got a lot of play time, and my shy dog was given lots of love. I felt very confident that they were all being well cared for while I was away.”

“Shannon was a great pet sitter for our mini Aussie. Our pup warmed up to her very quickly and looked like she was having fun in all the photos we received while away. Came home to a clean home and happy dog! Would definitely book Shannon again the next time we travel.”

“Jasper and Jaydon took wonderful care of Muffin and my house! They were responsive, professional, and so kind and conscientious. I would recommend them to anyone!”

“Athena is very kind, punctual, and a good communicator. Our house was just as clean as I left it and our dog was in great spirits. She gave our dog his medicine and took notes on the times of medicine. I also enjoyed the pictures and updates and summary of activities. 10 out of 10 would have Athena again.”

“Absolutely thrilled to have found such a great dog/ house sitter for our pup!! Came home to a very calm and happy doggo who clearly had been getting lots of love and attention while we were away. We got frequent updates and returned home to a spotless house! They did such a great job and we are so thankful ❤️❤️❤️”

“Jeff is great! Very easy going in all things, except when it comes to the well being of your pet. His attention to detail there is above and beyond! Took care of my pup like a member of the family, would trust him any day to provide the best for her. Will absolutely book again.”

“Jeff was great! Our friend who normally house sits was unable to watch our dogs this last trip, so we found Jeff. He was available last minute & our dogs loved him. He clearly communicated with us & took great care of our house & pups. We will definitely be adding him to our list of house sitters from now on.”

“This was a huge step for me to trust someone with not only my guys but my home. Jenn understood my concerns and made a special trip down for a meet and greet. She sent multiple updates during the day and her pictures showed how relaxed Brady was with her. She left the house spotless, and I had a very happy dog when I got home. I definitely recommend her, and I look forward to her sitting again when needed.”

“Alysia was absolutely amazing! I got a lot of update texts and photos and she kept in great contact. All the animals were Incredibly happy and the apartment was spotless when we returned. We will absolutely be using her and would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter.”

“Anthea is remarkable! As a dog trainer, I am so very picky and needy. I had never left my rescue pup overnight, and had to go away for 4 days. Anthea worked with my craziness, alleviated my neediness, and honestly just gave me the peace of mind I needed to truly enjoy my vacation! I didn't make it easy. I had multiple animals, multiple people coming to the house while I was away, and a list of needs for me to feel safe and comfortable. She handled it all like a boss and when I got home my house was so calm and clean!”

“I have had dogs all my life but have always used a kennel. Since my girls are getting older, I really wanted them to stay in their familiar safe place...home. I interviewed a few Rover sitters and decided on Kiana, loved her personality, smile and contact with my two Westies. I couldn't be more pleased with her. She sent regular pictures and texts to let me know things were going fine. I came home to a clean house and even some peanut butter cookies! I will definitely use Kiana in the future. Thank you Kiana!”

“Susan did a great job caring for our two little kitties! Also, keeping our house safe while we were gone for a very long time. We came back to two safe, happy cats and with all of our outdoor plants alive, despite 100+ degree temps. Thank you, Susan! Highly recommend!”

“Aaron stayed with my two cats for several days and took excellent care of them. He was attentive, communicative, and conscientious about their unique needs. I would definitely ask him to care for them again and highly recommend him!”

“Eva was great with our two dogs. She is very communicative, prompt, and followed care instructions. We arrived to a clean home and happy pups. Would definitely book with Eva in the future!”

“We had a long vacation overseas and needed to coordinate with another sitter as well. Mindy and Daniel were very flexible and covered the second half of our trip. Their communication was great with daily updates. Our dog and cat were very comfortable with them. They have professional demeanor regarding pet and house sitting. Put us at ease while we were gone.”

I’m so grateful for Grace! She was a great sitter—communicative, thoughtful, and flexible. My dog, Stevie, is leash reactive and I was worried she might be a bit much to handle, but Grace did so with care and kindness. I value knowing my dog was walked and loved despite her anxieties. Also, she hurt her paw while I was away and Grace was great at caring for her + communicating with me about it and how it healed (my Stevie was being a tad dramatic hahaha). Also, I loved the photos and videos I got almost everyday and would absolutely book her again. Thank you, Grace!

Ashley took incredible care of our two kitties and our home! The pictures and updates she sent were terrific, she clearly won them over right from the start, even our shy-er one who often takes awhile to warm up to new folks. She was super responsive as well beforehand, and we came home to a place that looked even better than we left it, along with cats who clearly had lots of TLC when we were gone. Highly recommend enlisting Ashley if you need some help, will definitely reach out to her next time we go away!

Ellen was PHENOMENAL! OMG. Could not have gotten luckier with her and will absolutely request her support again. She did a great job and helped us feel so confident and at ease with our aging cat being supported while we vacationed in Central Europe for a few weeks. Can't say enough great things about her as a house/pet sitter!

We had a great experience with our sitters during our 16-day trip. They took good care of our dog, sent regular updates with amazing photos, and were easy to communicate with throughout. Everything at the house was in order when we returned. Reliable and trustworthy sitters.

Miranda took wonderful care of our anxious Lab and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. She kept us updated with pictures and videos throughout the stay, which we really appreciated. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup and would absolutely recommend Miranda!

Claire helped take care of my 5 month old puppy and cat while we were away on a trip. I did not have service or WiFi at all times yet still felt completely safe having her around for the animals. She was responsive and sent pictures and updates. I’ll absolutely be booking through Claire for all future needs!!

this was our first experience with Rover. Rosanna made it so easy and welcoming from the time of our meet and greet all the way through. She is prompt in communication. We were on an international trip and her presence to watch our dog at our house put us so at ease, when it felt like such a big leap to trust a stranger. We didn’t worry once, our dog Bagel adored her the minute they met and was spoiled with fun engaging care. The house was left spotless. This was a great experience and we hope to be able to work with Rosanna again in the future!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Maywood Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Maywood Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Maywood Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
