“Second time using Athena and she is just wonderful! My cat is a territorial old man but Athena is the only sitter he’s actually somewhat cuddled with. She respects his space personality which is what really helps him.”

“Erin was wonderful with our cats! She even got our shy Maus to warm up to her! Great photos and communication. House was today and she even washed the sheets. Have already booked her for our next trip.”

“Chardonay did a wonderful job caring for our anxious senior German shepherd. We were gone for 10 days, out of the country, and I felt so relieved having someone who clearly cares for dogs so deeply caring for our girl. She managed meds, special diet, and communicated with us the whole time. We will for sure using Chardonay again!”

“Kristen was a thorough and prompt communicator and awesome with our critters! Our anxious dog and cat warmed up to her quickly and she was able to navigate a troublesome toilet issue while we were gone. She is great and we appreciated her house sitting!”

“Fantastic sitter, my dogs immediately loved her and she took excellent care of them and our home. Our dogs have high needs, pill regimens, and are aggressive towards other dogs and she handled all of it so well!”

“Nahomy is such a wonderful pet sitter. Took great care of my wacky little puppy and sent me so many fun pics and videos while I was at work. I love working with her she’s absolutely fantastic!”

“Melinda took excellent care of our pets and home. She was communicative, dependable, and very accommodating when our plans unexpectedly changed. She even gave our cat, Tiger, her inhaler without any issues—something we were a bit nervous about, but she handled it with ease. We felt completely confident leaving everything in her hands. We'd absolutely work with her again.”

“Jasper and Jaydon took wonderful care of Muffin and my house! They were responsive, professional, and so kind and conscientious. I would recommend them to anyone!”

“Raj was great with our high-energy dog. This was our first time using a house sitter so we were a little nervous, but Raj was very respectful of our home and our dog. We did have some communication issues on the last day about timing but Raj went above and beyond to fix it. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dog/house sitter!”

“Brigit is so sweet. Bailey adored her. This is a game changer. Our dog seemed much less stressed out by the whole thing by being home. We will see Brigit again for sure.”

“River was very prompt and communicative. She took great care of our boy and was super understanding of all of his quirks. She has a very sweet demeanor with animals that helped our dog warm up to her quickly!”

“We had a long vacation overseas and needed to coordinate with another sitter as well. Mindy and Daniel were very flexible and covered the second half of our trip. Their communication was great with daily updates. Our dog and cat were very comfortable with them. They have professional demeanor regarding pet and house sitting. Put us at ease while we were gone.”

“Shad was great! He was communicative and house sat for our two dogs while we had a family trip away. Our dogs were so happy and Shad made the experience seamless and I didn’t worry about the pups at all while we were gone. We definitely will be using Shad again in the future.”

“Megan was very responsive and clearly enjoys doing this work. We had her in for a half day of pet sitting and she took good care of our dog, was great about letting me know specifics on how he was doing, and was flexible with a last minute schedule change. Would definitely hire her again.”

“Katherine is truly a gem. She took care of my wild puppy and sweet senior dog like an absolute pro—and trust me, that’s no easy feat. From the moment she stepped in, I knew they were in the best hands. She kept me updated with adorable photos and thoughtful, thorough texts, so I never had to worry. They even went on fun little adventures together! It made me so happy to know they were getting more than a sitter, but truly a dog person who cares. When I got home, not only was the house spotless, but she had washed and made my bed with clean sheets—like, who does that?! Above and beyond in every way. But beyond being an incredible pet sitter, Katherine is just… cool. Like, genuinely someone you’d want to hang out with. I honestly want to be her friend. Can’t recommend her enough! Will absolutely be rebooking in the future and am eternally grateful for her help!”

“Megan is kind, communicative, and a natural with animals! She cared for my dog and two cats while my husband and I were out of town, and I didn’t feel stressed at all being away from them because I knew they were in good hands. She made a little collage of each of my girls, and it was so sweet!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Maywood Park
Angela was a dream house and pet sitter. She communicated everyday while we were away for 4 nights and 5 days. She sent photos and videos, asked clarifying questions about nearby trails and took care of our house like it was her own. I appreciate the care she gave our girls during her stay and the communication going above and beyond. Thank you!!

Erin was absolutely amazing, and I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. She was able to get both of my kitties to come out of their shells a little more, took great care of them, our plants and our home. I would highly recommend Erin to anyone, and would be honored to have her back for future trips!

I cannot say enough good things about Claire! She was available last minute after our usual sitter fell ill. She was able to come for a meet and greet the day before we left and we knew she would be perfect. We were only gone 3 days but everything chaotic that could have happened during that time, did! Cats escaped and wouldn’t come inside at night, one of our ducks had ducklings unexpectedly, one of the dogs got sick - Claire handled it all professionally, creatively, and just plain amazingly. Thank you Claire, from the bottom of our hearts! We needed a short getaway and are so grateful to you.

Highly recommend! Rosanna is an excellent communicator and I genuinely felt so comfortable leaving my dogs with her. She provided great updates, administered meds to my senior dogs, and handled walking 2 big dogs like a champ! Wonderful human! Thank you, Rosanna!

Eden was amazing, patient and kind. My new dog, Willow, needed someone calm and chill and she warmed up to Eden more so than to others. I really appreciate Eden’s understanding of dogs, her flexibility in me changing my dates and her taking care of my house, dogs and garden! Thank you, Eden!

Melinda did an excellent job house sitting for my fur baby! This was her first time house sitting with us and our dog was still somewhat getting to know her. Our dog has some challenges with anxiety at times, but based on reports and pictures, and even a funny video of my dog rolling around all over the living room floor, she seemed really comfortable with Melida regardless! Melinda was great about sending daily pics and updates and reaching out if she had any questions. Oh yeah, she even voluntarily on her own initiation watered some of our outdoor plants on a day that was going to be extra hot! I would definitely hire Melinda again in the future should the opportunity arise.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Maywood Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Maywood Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Maywood Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
