“Tori is FANTASTIC!! My animals loved her; my dog cried when she left. Tori has excellent communication skills and would send me photos and videos of my babies. She watched them and my house for two weeks. Tori left everything in great condition. I highly recommend her and will use her again for sure.”

“Anthony really listens to the owners concerns and truly seems to enjoy the pets. it was a relief to find a pet sitter that I am comfortable with and that the dogs actually like. Since I recently moved back to Portland this is the first time I left these two dogs with a sitter and everything turned out perfect. Thank you Anthony! Now that I have found a reliable dog sitter I am already making plans for my next 2 mini vacations.”

“Heather was amazing! Communication was timely and thorough. My two large dogs loved her and my cat is 19 years old and I think he did too. I don’t know if he knows what’s going on most of the time and typically just wanders the house looking for food, even after he just ate - I digress. She followed every request to the letter, was very kind and checked in regularly, even got some super cute photos. I’d giver her 6/5 stars if I could. I will be asking for her by name from now on. Highly recommend (except when we need her, then I don’t ;)~”

“This is my first time using Rover and we were looking for an overnight sitter for mainly my little Genee girl who has never not had family around her. Anika filled that gap for us and did an amazing job. She put up with all my messages and provided pictures of Genee on walks and playing. She even included pics of the cat lounging around as usual. I was worried about leaving Genee for the first time but Anika made it much easier for me! I would highly recommend her and I will be calling upon her again when we need a sitter!”

“Melinda took excellent care of our pets and home. She was communicative, dependable, and very accommodating when our plans unexpectedly changed. She even gave our cat, Tiger, her inhaler without any issues—something we were a bit nervous about, but she handled it with ease. We felt completely confident leaving everything in her hands. We'd absolutely work with her again.”

“Dylan was flexible, communicative, and knowledgeable. I really appreciated his ability to roll with scheduling changes. Ace and him seemed to really hit it off which is the most important to me!”

“Tiffany was great. She communicated all the time. We were able to see our dog Mister through the pictures she sent. Mister looked happy. The house was clean when we returned home. Our pets were in great hands. Tiffany is very nice and personable when meeting face to face. We thank you very much! The SixShade Family”

“Penny’s attentive house-sitting made our dog and two cats happy and relaxed while we were out of town. She sends cute pet photos, is a good communicator, and is a great person. Highly recommended!”

“Reagan was beyond incredible during the house stay with our two dogs for nearly 1.5 weeks. Not only did she make sure our two dogs had their usual routine followed, but she also cared for the other animals we have in the house and treated our house like it was her own (if not better). We received picture updates every day and never went to sleep wondering if everything was okay back home. Not only that, but when I realized I had booked the stay wrong by shorting it a day, she was EXTREMELY flexible and willing to stay another night. Cue our travel plans being interrupted and stranding us across the country for yet another day after that, and she was again so flexible and willing to work with us and our chaotic ens of a trip. We are so thankful to have found Reagan and will be using her again in the future without hesitation. It is so clear she cares for animals on a level that I do, which is very hard to find nowadays. If you’re looking for a safe option for any care for your animals, we highly recommend Reagan!!”

“Jordan took such good care of our babies!!! The house looked fabulous and our kiddos were all happy and healthy. Daily communication and medication dispensing was done without issue. We already have him rebooked for the end of the month.”

“Katherine was amazing, our dog and cat loved her! She spent lots of time with them even outside on the deck. She left the house nice and clean, was communicative and sent pictures of our fur babies while we were away. Highly recommended!”

About: I’ve loved dogs for as long as I can remember. I’ve had family dogs growing up and had a dog of my own in my early twenties, so caring for them has always been a part of my life. Around 2020, friends and coworkers started asking me to house sit while they traveled, and that’s when I realized how much I genuinely enjoy caring for other people’s homes and especially thier pets. Since then, I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes and personalities... from tiny Chihuahuas and miniature Poodles to Huskies, Pit Bulls, and Dobermans. I’ve also spent some time with cats, hamsters, bunnies, and lizards. Unfortunately I have retired for caring for cats due to allergies. I know that every dog is different. Some want to play nonstop, some love long walks, and others just want someone cuddles. I enjoy getting to know each dog’s personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their family is away. I’ve even helped reinforce basic training, taught a few fun tricks, and worked on some very simple behavioral habits when owners have appreciated. I believe consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement go a long way. When your dog is with me, they’ll be treated like my own. My goal is to give you peace of mind, knowing your best friend is getting plenty of attention, exercise, affection, care until you’re back home. I’m currently a surgical technology student, and my classes are scheduled in the mornings, which means I’m available most afternoons and evenings for walks, drop-in visits, house sitting, and quality time with your pets. Trusting someone with your animal is a huge deal. I am big on personal integrity and respect. I know every pet is different, so I like to stick as closely as possible to the routine they’re already used to. Whether that means long walks, playtime in the yard, keeping up with feeding schedules, or just hanging out on the couch together, I’m happy to do whatever helps them feel comfortable while you’re away. Safety is always my biggest priority. I’m especially careful on walks, pay attention to each dog’s personality and body language. This means, my phone is away… unless I sneak a really cute picture of your pup. I also know how important it is to trust the person staying in your home, so I’ll treat your space with respect and leave it just the way I found it. I’ll also send plenty of updates and photos because I know I’d want the same if someone was watching my dog. My goal is for you to enjoy your time away worry free.
“Tiana was absolutely wonderful! Kept us updated as to how they were doing and sent photos throughout her stay. She made sure to leave our place spotless and our dogs seemed to really enjoy their time with her. Would highly recommend!”

“merry was great with my dog! they were very thorough and made sure they had al the necessary info to take care of him, and i was very confident that we would be well taken care of while i was gone! highly recommend (:”

“Isabella did a great job with our 2 dogs. We came home to a happy dogs and the house was in great shape. Great communication and we appreciated the pictures that were sent. It’s a great feeling to have somebody you can trust with your dogs and house.”

“Jayne house-sat for me and watched my two dogs and cat, who are all fairly high maintenance. She did an excellent job. I got plenty of pictures and videos, and the animals were happy. They got lots of exercise and play time. I’ll definitely have Jayne help me again in the future.”

“Aislynn was so wonderful. This is our second setter through Rover and have had nothing but great experiences. It was great knowing Millie and Oliver was in safe hands during our day. I would for sure rebook with her again.”

“Jillian was wonderful. She asked great questions at our meet and greet, followed all of our instructions for Elly, and the house looked the exact same as we left it. Would definitely hire her again in the future for our dog sitting needs!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Gresham
Reagan couldn't have made my first experience with Rover any better. My sweet pup is in his upper senior years and requires a little more "hands on" care. She was so good with Mayhem, I was almost afraid he wouldn't want us to come home :-). Reagan was very open, honest, and very communicative. She kept us fully updated and sent many pictures of their adventures together. I could not recommend her more. She will be my go to, anytime I need someone else to love my pup.

Emily has been doing drop-ins visits for our chickens for a few years now, and she occasionally house sits our small zoo of dogs, cats and backyard birds. She does an incredible job every time! We feel at ease leaving our pets because of her. She’s even great dealing with our elderly and disabled dog. Would always recommend Emily!

This is my first time using Rover and we were looking for an overnight sitter for mainly my little Genee girl who has never not had family around her. Anika filled that gap for us and did an amazing job. She put up with all my messages and provided pictures of Genee on walks and playing. She even included pics of the cat lounging around as usual. Maryola did such an amazing job watching my dog skyla! She gave me updates whenever i asked, and sent me pictures as well! I felt very confident leaving skyla with her! She did such a great job! Skyla is a nervous dog but when she sent me pictures of her she looked so happy and calm! So i would book with her if i were you! Thank you so much again Maryola!

Michelle was fantastic! She was very through with our dogs and made sure everyone was getting what they needed! Sent lots of pictures and even cleaned our house and outdoor area! She even looked after our goats and did a terrific job. It was so nice to not have to worry about our babies we were able to relax knowing they were in good hands

Pam is fantastic! She took care of our timid and anxious dog in our home. Our dog quickly warmed up to Pam. She followed all our instructions, made sure our dog had good walks and communicated well with us. Everything was good when we got home and our dog was happy and healthy. Pam is reliable and we highly recommend her.
Mariah was AMAZING!! She stayed at our house for a week while we were out of town to take care of our 2 pets. She provided daily updates with photos and was responsive throughout the week. When we came home we couldn't believe how clean and untouched our house looked. We'll definitely use Mariah's services again if we need a sitter. She is the best!

Jaclyn is so great. Our dogs loved her, even our more difficult one. Jaclyn is excellent at being calm and attentive. She left the house spotless and played with the pups. She sent the perfect amount of updates and pics. Fancy and Elliot seemed to love her and we would definitely hire her again!

Sterling was an excellent sitter. He took care of our cats, dogs, horses, and aquarium while we were away over the Thanksgiving holiday. He sent us pictures and updates of our pets and was great with our four month old puppy who is a handful and still in house training mode. Our Great Dane is on allergy and heart medication and Sterling handled that too. He wasn’t afraid to ask questions if he needed information. The house was clean and in order when we arrived home and the dogs seemed sad to see him go. We will hire him again in a heartbeat.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gresham walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gresham maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gresham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gresham. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
