“This is my first time using Rover and we were looking for an overnight sitter for mainly my little Genee girl who has never not had family around her. Anika filled that gap for us and did an amazing job. She put up with all my messages and provided pictures of Genee on walks and playing. She even included pics of the cat lounging around as usual. I was worried about leaving Genee for the first time but Anika made it much easier for me! I would highly recommend her and I will be calling upon her again when we need a sitter!”

“Isabella did a great job with our 2 dogs. We came home to a happy dogs and the house was in great shape. Great communication and we appreciated the pictures that were sent. It’s a great feeling to have somebody you can trust with your dogs and house.”

“Penny watched our very hyper, active Boston Terrier and she was amazing, professional, polite, and was great with our Tux! We plan on definitely using her again..she even sent pictures of their walk.”

“Melinda did a wonderful job caring for my two dogs and cat over the weekend. My very energetic dog got a lot of play time, and my shy dog was given lots of love. I felt very confident that they were all being well cared for while I was away.”

“Our original housesitting plans fell through at the last minute and we were leaving for the airport in a couple hours. Tiffiny was quick to respond and come meet our puppy. She was very flexible and took excellent care of our pup and our house, greatly relieving our stress and anxiety. Levi loved playing with Tiffiny and her daughter! We highly recommend her and will definitely use her services again.”

“Aislynn was so wonderful. This is our second setter through Rover and have had nothing but great experiences. It was great knowing Millie and Oliver was in safe hands during our day. I would for sure rebook with her again.”

About: Hello! I’ve been around dogs my whole life and and excited to get to know yours and help out this summertime! For almost 15 years, I helped raise and take care of my family dog, Dakota. She was terrier mix who loved to play and eat like there’s no tomorrow! A few years after she passed, my sister adopted a puppy, and being a dog aunt has healed my heart once again! I love seeing dogs grow into their own personalities and learn from real world experiences. I feel that helping raise puppies, and continuing to care for them as they age gives me first hand insight on how dogs should be treated for best results: with patience, attention, and compassion. I feel confident giving commands and helping with basic training to puppies and actives, while also being more than happy to sit and chill with others :) Starting in June, I will be off for summer break from my job and will be available almost every day. I have pretty open availability on the weekends and am flexible to change things up. I’m looking forward to having a bit of a mixed schedule and taking things as they go. When sitting in a clients home, I think it’s important to make sure your fur baby feels comfortable since it is their space after all! I will do everything I can to help, whether it’s trying to play or get outside for a walk, but if it’s simply not happening and your pup is feeling nervous about someone they’re unfamiliar with in their home, then I will never push a boundary.
“Brittani is amazing — she will love your pups until you come back to love on them! She is a great communicator, caring and kind and she is easy-going. Our two dogs are not easy to take care of and Brittani did so with ease and so much patience. I’m grateful to have met her and will most definitely reach out in the future!”

About: While I've grown up with dogs and cats, I also have professional pet sitting experience taking care of dogs with diabetes, blind cats, guinea pigs, and even a llama! Pets and their caretakers have trusted me so much, they have flown me to their new homes after moving out of state for further petsitting assignments. I give emotional connection and comfort to pets while they're missing their humans, even reading aloud to them, because I believe it is an integral part of the job. Currently, this is my primary work, so I will have time to spare to take care of your animals. I volunteer regularly at animal sanctuaries and other orgs to improve the lives of animals. I have typically been asked to spend the night with the pets in the client's home, and spend as much time with them as possible, but I can also make daily visits instead if necessary. If you prefer I make visits, keep in mind the distance it would take for me to get to your place, and consider allowing me to make fewer, longer visits instead of multiple brief ones throughout the day.
About: Between owning pets for 10+ years and helping friends and family take care of their pets I have a lot of experience with senior dogs who require extra care and things like medication to puppies who just want lots of play time! I work from home which provides me a lot of flexibility in my schedule, both weekly and daily and whether it's taking pets on walks or house sitting. I live in a safe residential area and will take your pet on daily walks, I also work from home which means I am very flexible to work from any location and provides me with the ability to spend lots of time with your pet
“Karen is everything you want when leaving an anxious weimaraner alone with a pet sitter for the first time. She’s communicative, sending updates by text and video to keep the anxious pet parents at ease. She’s compassionate, understanding Poppy’s need to speak out loud and sleep really close. She’s calming for all of us. We are confident we have found the perfect dog sitter.”

About: I’ve been around dogs and cats my whole life and truly love caring for them. I’ve trained dogs in basic skills, cared for puppies 24/7, and have hands-on experience with cats, including feeding, litter care, playtime, and creating calm, safe spaces. I enjoy walks, cuddles, and building trust with every pet, making sure they feel happy, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I currently do dog and cat sitting full-time and truly love being around animals. I enjoy taking dogs on walks, playing with toys, giving treats, cuddling, bathing, and making sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while their owners are away. Caring for pets fits very naturally into my daily routine, and I always make sure each pet gets plenty of attention, care, and affection. I prioritize safety, trust, and a comfortable environment. I have a fenced yard and always maintain secure spaces for pets. I visit dogs in their own homes, handle feeding, potty breaks, and medications carefully, and ensure they’re happy, safe, and well-cared-for at all times.
“Katherine was absolutely wonderful! Kind, communicative, attuned to my dog and cat’s needs and wants. She took great care of my babes and my home, and I will absolutely book her again!”

“Merry is the best pet sitter we have had! She was attentive to everything even paying attention to the best time of day to exercise the dogs based on weather conditions. She sent lots of much appreciated photos. Highly recommend!”

“Kristen was a thorough and prompt communicator and awesome with our critters! Our anxious dog and cat warmed up to her quickly and she was able to navigate a troublesome toilet issue while we were gone. She is great and we appreciated her house sitting!”

“Kendra was AMAZING! I had requested a house sit and could not have been happier. She spent plenty of time with my 2 fur babies while my partner and I went out of the country for a week. We got plenty of pictures and updates which gave us some peace of mind. They got the love and attention I was seeking for them and I am very satisfied with my booking with Kendra, would absolutely rebook.”

About: I currently cannot have a dog right now, but I have about a year of experience with treat training dogs. I love taking them on walks. I currently work a part-time job in Sandy, but I am very open to walking or pet sitting. Especially since I have a big heart for animals. I have a friendly cat and a decent size backyard. Since my backyard is not fenced in, it would be best to pet sit at the client’s house.

“Erin was great. She was sending us daily updates about our dog. She stayed at our home with our dog and was very respectful of our property. Thank you Erin for everything.”

“From the moment I met Augusto, I knew I had found a trustworthy and caring companion for my puppy Ziva. His professionalism and genuine affection for dogs was evident from the start and I immediately felt comfortable leaving Ziva in his very capable hands. Augusto went above and beyond my expectations. His dedication to keeping my puppy comfortable, happy and content was greatly appreciated. I received regular updates and photos, which meant the world to me!! Augusto’s flexibility and willingness to accommodate my specific needs and timeline, even on very short notice, made a world of difference. It's clear that he treats each and every dog as if they were his own!! I returned home from two very long days to a happy and healthy dog, and I could see that a special bond had been formed. Thank you again, and I (and Ziva too) look forward to working with Augusto again.”

Tiffany was great. She communicated all the time. We were able to see our dog Mister through the pictures she sent. Mister looked happy. The house was clean when we returned home. Our pets were in great hands. Tiffany is very nice and personable when meeting face to face. We thank you very much! The SixShade Family

Emily has been doing drop-ins visits for our chickens for a few years now, and she occasionally house sits our small zoo of dogs, cats and backyard birds. She does an incredible job every time! We feel at ease leaving our pets because of her. She’s even great dealing with our elderly and disabled dog. Would always recommend Emily!

Maryola did such an amazing job watching my dog skyla! She gave me updates whenever i asked, and sent me pictures as well! I felt very confident leaving skyla with her! She did such a great job! Skyla is a nervous dog but when she sent me pictures of her she looked so happy and calm! So i would book with her if i were you! Thank you so much again Maryola!

Sterling was an excellent sitter. He took care of our cats, dogs, horses, and aquarium while we were away over the Thanksgiving holiday. He sent us pictures and updates of our pets and was great with our four month old puppy who is a handful and still in house training mode. Our Great Dane is on allergy and heart medication and Sterling handled that too. He wasn’t afraid to ask questions if he needed information. The house was clean and in order when we arrived home and the dogs seemed sad to see him go. We will hire him again in a heartbeat.

Karen lived at my home for a week caring for my kitties. One of my kitties has several heart conditions and I REALLY appreciated that Karen was able to get her all her meds. That is no small thing! Karen's communication was excellent from the first contact all the way through the end of the visit. She problem solved when I dropped the ball on clarifying my wifi info and was a wonderful comfort for my cats. Karen really went above and beyond when she discovered mice had gotten into my cat food. Her problem solving, quick response and clean up helped keep my cats safe. I SO appreciated that. I will definitely be contacting Karen again. Call her- she's great!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Troutdale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Troutdale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Troutdale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Troutdale. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
