“Jessica provided stellar service, above and beyond. She had to deal with record heat and went out of her way to make sure my dog was comfortable and safe. She communicated with me regularly. I felt my dog was in excellent hands and would gladly use her again.”

“Highly Recommend Madeline! We had such a wonderful experience with Madeline! This was our first time ever using a pet sitter, so we were understandably a little nervous—especially because our dog can be somewhat challenging. Madeline was absolutely fantastic from start to finish and immediately put us at ease. She was incredibly timely, responsible, and attentive. We really appreciated the updates she sent throughout the overnight stay—they were just the right amount and gave us peace of mind knowing everything was going well. The photos she shared were an especially nice touch, and we loved being able to see our dog happy and comfortable while we were away. Madeline handled everything so professionally and clearly has a genuine love and understanding of animals. By the time we returned, we felt completely confident that our dog had been well cared for. We couldn’t have asked for a better first experience with a pet sitter. Madeline was wonderful, and we would absolutely trust her with our dog again. Highly, highly recommend!”

“Jill did an Amazing job taking care of our two little dogs and our home while we were out of town. We passed on their routines and the details of our house and she kept things running so smoothly, it was like we never left. We'll be reaching back out to Jill for any future travels, and I'm sure our dogs will be more excited about staying home with her than we are about going on vacation. Thank you, Jill!”

“Madeline is THE BEST sitter. She is communicative and just gets our quirky cats. This is the second time we’ve had her sit for us and she’s our first call whenever we need someone to check in on our fur babies.”

“Dylan was flexible, communicative, and knowledgeable. I really appreciated his ability to roll with scheduling changes. Ace and him seemed to really hit it off which is the most important to me!”

“Roree is an excellent dog sitter. She is very trustworthy and reliable. She keeps us updated with pictures and texts on how Willow is doing. Willow loves Roree!!!! The house is spotless when we return. When we book with her she communicates quickly with us. She is very conscientious and always arrives on time. We are so pleased to have found her!!!”

“Janesia took great care of my house and the fluffy boys! It was great not having to worry about them while on my work trip, I’d gladly book again with her next time I need a sitter.”

“I don’t even know where to begin. My husband and I rarely go on trips together. We have three dogs, they are all different ages with different care levels, and finding someone to care for them has always been challenging. Our family planned to go on an Alaskan cruise, and we decided to join them. We reached out to Karen and she was SO responsive. She got back to us quickly and agreed to do a meet and greet. Our dogs LOVED her immediately. We have a 6 year old street dog whom we rescued from Mexico. He is very sweet but is slow to warm up to people. Within a few minutes of Karen being at the house he was begging her for pets. It was decided right then that Karen would be watching our fur babies. Fast forward a few weeks and we are all lined up and ready to go on our trip. We’ve done a pack walk with Karen and have walked her through their daily needs. Karen is very thorough and wants as much information about your pets as she can get. To make sure everyone was good to go, my husband and I took our senior dog to the vet to get her arthritis shot. We wanted to make sure she would be comfortable while we were gone. At the vet appointment, we got heartbreaking news. Our veterinarian had a difficult and honest conversation with us about our dog’s health and quality of life. Our senior was 19 years old and had started experiencing some cogitative decline and mobility issues. After several long discussions and uncertainty about our pup’s health while we would be gone, we decided it was time to allow our sweet baby to cross the rainbow bridge. We were devastated and, as you could imagine, were experiencing some anxiety and uncertainty about leaving the other two dogs. When we explained to Karen what happened, she provided so much comfort and security. She let us know that there wasn’t any pressure to go on the trip and assured us that if we did, she would make sure our dogs were well loved on. We ended up going to Alaska. During our trip, Karen sent us photos and videos, and made sure to give us daily updates. If we request additional photos or videos, she always sent them no questions asked. She went out of her way to make us feel at ease, and it really helped give us the space and peace of mind to process everything that happened. Having Karen care for our fur babies not only allowed us to go on a family trip, it’s also allowed us to grieve our loss without having to carry the stress of the day-to-day and making sure the other dogs were taken care of. It goes without saying, but we will definitely book with Karen again. If you’re considering hiring Karen for your pets, I highly recommend it. You will be a so happy you did. Thank you Karen. We truly appreciate you, and the love and care you extend to Doodle and Wendi while we were gone.”

“Izzy was amazing!! She was on time, communicated so well (we love all the updates and photos), took great care of our cedar boy. He can be shy with walks with new people but she gave him lots of treats and patience and he ended up walking with her multiple times during her stay! We can’t wait to book her again :)”

“Angela was amazing! She gave great communication while we were away and we felt safe having her in our home. The pups, even my older, grumpier, dog were instantly drawn to her. Would highly recommend !”
“Breauna was amazing with our dog Joey! He has some anxiety especially when he's separated from us but she did a great job of taking care of him and making him feel secure. She exceeded expectations by taking him on walks that were not necessary and sending us lots of pictures and updates! She was also very respectful of our home and we came back to the place just as neat as we had left it. Very kind and amazing vibes, well definitely be using her again!! Thank you so much!!!”

“Anthea is remarkable! As a dog trainer, I am so very picky and needy. I had never left my rescue pup overnight, and had to go away for 4 days. Anthea worked with my craziness, alleviated my neediness, and honestly just gave me the peace of mind I needed to truly enjoy my vacation! I didn't make it easy. I had multiple animals, multiple people coming to the house while I was away, and a list of needs for me to feel safe and comfortable. She handled it all like a boss and when I got home my house was so calm and clean!”

“Skylar went over and above housesitting - taking my doggy back and forth to the vet for care the first day I was out of town and feeding him his meds while I was away. When I came home he was very relaxed showing me he had a good time and was perfectly cared for! Amazing job!”

“Did an amazing job of taking care of my two pups. Especially with one being dog aggressive she took extra precautions and did everything I asked. She sent me tons of pictures which I loved and was a very good at communicating. She stayed the night and had the house as I left it and even washed my sheets and made my bed after! All in all I’d recommend macynn for all your dogs needs will be going back for sure!”

“Extraordinary experience with Sparkle! We were so nervous about leaving six pets (three are medically fragile) with someone new but Sparkle really put us at ease right away. All of our pets were immediately drawn to her, which really delighted us, and Sparkle was so calm and not flustered at all with the complex very detailed instructions that we knew everything would be ok. Sparkle’s communication with us was outstanding and although there were some urgent low glucose episodes to deal with for our diabetic cat, Sparkle knew exactly what to do because she had studied our instructions. I had expected to be anxious and worried the whole six days we were away but I quickly realized that I could just forget about everything and enjoy our trip. Sparkle also did some sweet and unexpected things, like mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms and doing laundry in all the areas where she or the pets had been spending time. That was unnecessary but definitely appreciated. We will ABSOLUTELY be booking with Sparkle again!”

“Erin was wonderful with our cats! She even got our shy Maus to warm up to her! Great photos and communication. House was today and she even washed the sheets. Have already booked her for our next trip.”

“Brooklyn did a fantastic job watching our two morkies over a weekend period. We especially appreciated her proactive style of communication, her calm when dealing with any issues, and of course all the pictures of our pups throughout the day while we were away. Would definitely recommend her services and book with her again. Thanks Brooklyn!”

Jill is awesome! She took such good care of the dogs. The communication between us was just great and she kept me informed on how they were doing. She sent pictures and asked clarifying questions if she needed to know something to take better care of the dogs. They truly love her and I look forward to having her pet sit for me again in the very near future. Highly recommend her for your animals! She rocks!

I could not really put into words just how awesome Madeline is. She did so amazing with both our dogs, and especially well with our Shepherd-mix! He can be an interesting one, especially around new folks, but Madeline handled both of our beasts like the professional she is! Will definitely book again! Thanks Madeline!!

Anna is an actual angel when it comes to pet sitters! She took such amazing care of my sweet old man pug, Riley who’s admittedly a bit of a diva and a tad high maintenance. She would report back all of his funny quirks to the point where I knew she wasn’t just doing “a job”- she was bonding with him in a way that made me feel completely as ease and I knew he was receiving the same love I give him. This is rare. She is a GEM! He fell so in looove with her that I actually think he thought she was his new momma while I was out of town for 2 weeks. She stayed in my home while watching him and when I came back, the place was better than I left it, absolutely impeccable! She went above and beyond with cleaning/ laundry so that when I came home, i didn’t have to fuss with anything. Her care for Riley and my home went above and beyond. I even came home to flowers and a sweet card from her as she knew I was away to be with my family as my Grandma went thru hospice. Anna is the type of sitter you want to hire again and again because of the trust she cultivates so easily thru her actions and communication. She’s just such a good human in general. 100/10 DEF RECOMMEND!

Absolutely wonderful! We have two standard poodles that have very specific needs. Megan was great in our home and with the pups. She's responsible, timely, clean, and respectful. I felt confident with her in our house and gave us regular updates! I'll definitely be using her services again

Kristy was stellar! She gave my dog and elderly kitty the sweetest TLC and sent amazing photo and video updates. She was in regular communication throughout the weekend and even washed the sheets and towels before leaving. I'm so glad I found her! I'd ask her back in a heartbeat!

Amanda, Sav and Daisy were incredible companions for our dog, Waffles. They all made sure Waffles was spoiled, giving her lots of exercise, treats and cuddles. Our house was very clean and taken care of. Amanda was very communicative and accommodating. I would certainly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Washougal walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Washougal maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Washougal choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
