“merry was great with my dog! they were very thorough and made sure they had al the necessary info to take care of him, and i was very confident that we would be well taken care of while i was gone! highly recommend (:”

“Simply, Adeline was a perfect pet sitter in pur home. Our little dog is 16 years old and doesn't hear. He also was highly traumatized before we adopted him, so new people make him very agitated. deline was amazing with him. She was kind enough to agree to a pre vacation meetup before our holiday. She listened to our concerns and clearly treated him well. By the time we came home a week later, she was his bestie. Adeline sent us photos periodically with updates and seemed to really care about them, offering to sit for us again in the future. We're so grateful to Adeline for her patience and care; she made it possible for me to relax on vacation knowing they were in good hands. Thank you Adeline!”

“Naiya was very helpful when our dog had sudden onset of mega esophagus. She alerted us right away and urged us to come home. The dogs loved her company and we appreciated her care.”

“Absolutely the best. Tayler was super responsive and made our first experience with Rover incredible. She provided us with some many pictures and updates and our girls loved her. Will 100% be using her services again!”

“Donna was incredibly professional. She was on time for our meet and greet, and she was also on time at 6:00 am for sitting! She came fully prepared and spent the day loving my dog. She sent photos and played with him. I would 100% book with her again.”

“This is the second time that Mackenzie has sat for us, and she was wonderful as always! She was very on top of updates, and went out of her way to help and communicate with us when one of our dogs had a medical issue while we were away. I’m super grateful that we were able to find Mackenzie and hope to have her sit for us many more times in the future!”

“Amir is so wonderful with our dog, Finn. He clearly loves dogs and takes excellent care of Finn, including working on training exercises with him! He communicates really well and also took great care of our house when he stayed with Finn there for a week. We are glad to have Amir as a trusted caregiver for Finn!”

About: I’ve had my fair share of petsitting and dog walking and I enjoyed it a lot. I also have had pets that I have cared for. I have a very flexible schedule since I am currently unemployed and not going to school. I am open most days and times as well as some weekends. I have had many pets and have loved and cared for them. Currently I have a dog that I care for. I hope to take care of your pets as well.
“We recently hired Kay to petsit overnight in our home for 8 days while we were out of state for business and vacation. She did an absolutely fantastic job taking care of our 2 dogs, a younger male Samoyed and a senior, special needs female Siberian Husky, 2 senior male cats, and 4 male cockatiel birds. Our Siberian Husky also required the administration of daily oral medications. Kay kept in daily communication with us regarding the status of our dogs, cats, and birds, sent us daily photos of our pets, and promptly responded to any of our questions, concerns, or inquiries. Our pets appeared calm, relaxed, and happy in the photos Kay sent to us. Kay also went above and beyond her petsitting duties by bringing in several large packages that were delivered to our home, coordinating access to our home for an outside service vendor, and leaving our house in a clean and orderly manner upon our return. Kay was a pleasure to work with, is responsible and mature, takes her responsibilities seriously, and exudes a true love, joy, and compassion for taking care of animals. Kay definitely put our minds at ease while we were on our trip knowing that our fur and feather babies were getting lots of attention and excellent care during our absence. We would not hesitate to hire Kay again in the future should the need arise. We highly recommend Kay's services to other pet parents. Thank you so much Kay!”

“Matt was an excellent pet sitter. He was extremely easy to work with and took great care of our house and pets while we were away. He was always quick to respond, and I feel he went above and beyond to ensure we came home to a well-kept home and pets.”

“Alyssa was amazing. She watched my boy for 3 nights and was great about sending me pictures and communicating any questions throughout her time with him. Will be using her again when we go out of town. Highly recommend.”

“This was the first time we left our highly anxious dog and older cat with Jordan. It was a bit if a rough start, but Jordan took feedback and suggestions well, and the visit went really well overall. Jordan was responsive, caring, and had a good attitude. We enjoyed working with him. Would hire him again.”

“Tsitsiki is AMAZING! Tre was treated so well! & My home was the same as when I left, Very respectful! Tsitsiki made this experience stress free! I was able to be at ease while at work knowing my pup was being taken care of and loved on!”

About: I've been surrounded by animals from before I was born. I grew up on a farm on Kauai, Hawaii. I worked as a veterinary assistant for nearly 10 years, volunteered with Guide Dogs for the Blind as a foster home, and I am always helping my friends and family with pet sitting and minor grooming(nail trims and baths). I'm starting this as a part-time job because it fits my schedule. I'm usually available for dog walking Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30am and 3:30pm. I am currently petless. Our beloved kitty(15 years old) passed last year and our family is not ready for another pet at the moment. I am happy to come to your house to take your dog for a walk in a neighborhood they are comfortable with, I often walk at Powell Butte, around my own neighborhood, and Salish ponds in Gresham. I'm happy to discuss other walks with you and anything else you'd like to know.

“Jaydon is a very caring and attentive sitter. My dog Lola was well cared for and he followed all of her feeding instructions and gave daily meds. I was updated often by text and photos. Jaydon is caring and communicative. I hope to have Jaydon as a sitter again. Highly recommended!”

“Kieran was absolutely wonderful with my dogs. He took the time to come by beforehand to meet both dogs and even walked my feisty little dog ahead of my trip—which made all of us feel comfortable right away. While I was away, Kieran kept me at ease with regular check-ins, photos, and quick responses whenever I had questions. I came home to two very happy dogs—and a house that looked exactly the same as I left it, which I truly appreciate. There was even a five-hour power outage while I was gone, and he handled it without a single complaint. On top of that, Kieran made sure my plants were watered during a stretch of 90-degree weather—definitely going above and beyond. Kieran has such a calm, easygoing demeanor, and I felt completely secure having them in my home. I will absolutely be hiring Kieran again and look forward to working with them throughout the coming year.”

“Sydney was great during an overnight stay with our cat! She was attentive and I could tell she was really looking out for his needs. When he became a bit antisocial and cried during the night, Sydney didn’t hesitate to reach out and see if there was anything else she could do to make him feel comfortable. Her energy definitely aligned with our cat’s and he got along with her great. Thanks Sydney!”

“Melinda did a wonderful job caring for my two dogs and cat over the weekend. My very energetic dog got a lot of play time, and my shy dog was given lots of love. I felt very confident that they were all being well cared for while I was away.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Happy Valley
Angela was absolutely fabulous! She stayed with our wild and crazy four-month-old puppy for a week, and rose to the challenge! He requires a lot of redirection and has a ton of energy, and she stayed patient with him, took him on long walks, and kept him from destroying the house. We came home to a clean house, watered garden, and a happy, tired pup. We would definitely have her back!

Ryleigh was super. If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would. She is a good communicator, respectful of our home and it was shiny clean when we returned. Most important though is she too very good care of our kitty and it showed. Our kitty really liked her and warmed up to her very quickly and that is always a positive sign. We will definitely use Riley when we go out of town again. It's reassuring to know that someone of Ryleigh's character is taking care of our kitty.

Melanie truly went above and beyond with a last-minute housesitting request, and then came through again with an extra drop-in visit when my flight home was delayed. Total lifesaver!! She took great care of my pets, including long walks with my dog and giving them lots of love and attention. I could tell they were happy and well cared for while I was away. Melanie is reliable, trustworthy, easy to communicate with, and her rates are extremely reasonable for the level of care she provides. I’m so grateful for all her help!

Tyler did a great job taking care of my 2 cats. One of my cats had an unfortunate emergency on his last day and Tyler got him to the emergency vet and got in contact with my emergency contact and made sure everything was taken care of for my kitty. I would definitely recommend Tyler!

If you are in need of a dog walker or dog sitter, Jenny is fantastic!! Her communication is great and our dog absolutely adores her. She is great at accommodating our needs and our schedule. We felt good leaving the country knowing our dog was in such good hands. Plus, we returned to a spotless home! We will definitely be using her in the future.

We had several meet-and-greets before choosing a dog sitter for a family trip, and Jamie immediately stood out. She was genuinely engaged with both family’s dogs from the start, and my dog took to her right away. Throughout our trip, Jamie was an excellent communicator—sharing regular updates and photos and thoughtfully kept each owner informed. While we were away, our dog unfortunately got into some medication (he’s a sneaky one). Without hesitation or direction, Jamie took complete charge of the situation. She contacted Pet Poison Control, called our vet, multiple emergency veterinary hospitals, and ultimately transported him to an emergency vet. Throughout the entire experience, she was calm, proactive, and incredibly communicative, ensuring we were fully informed every step of the way. After his discharge, she continued to go above and beyond—handling late-night potty breaks, closely monitoring his recovery, and providing detailed updates on his condition. On top of her exceptional care for the dogs, Jamie also took wonderful care of our home. She cleaned up, watered plants, washed her bedding, and even re-seasoned our cast iron pans—an unexpected and much-appreciated touch. We recommend Jamie highly. Her communication, attentiveness, and genuine care for both pets and our home made it clear she cared for both as if they were her own.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. As the previous owner of a dog boarding facility I can say with certainty Liza is an all star. She was so sweet with our complicated dog, understood dog behavior well, had great communicated skills and sent us the cutest photos while we were gone. We felt very relaxed about our time away and will definitely use Liza again.

Lisa was reliable and very attentive to our two dogs. She sent tons of photos and responded to any communications from us. Our dogs each have specific needs (one anxious baby and one senior baby) and she did a great job with both of them. Came back to happy dogs and a clean house.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Happy Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Happy Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Happy Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Happy Valley. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
