“She was so great. Dogs were really happy and she even trimmed our doodles eyes so she could see. We are behind schedule for her grooming. :) Would have her again anytime we need to seek out a dog sitter again in future if she’d have us as clients again 🦋”

“Donna is wonderful as always. She is the best sitter I have ever found! Siena, our dog, is always in high spirits when we come home and the house is even better than we left it.”

“Kat took care of our pups through a suppressive heat wave and fireworks and handled both like a champ. Went above an beyond even made sure everybody was cool! She’s super communicative and always let us know how they were doing. We so appreciate her!”

“Tiana took care of our geriatric dog and cat for a week this year. We were apprehensive about leaving them as they usually are able to stay with family. Tiana was a wonderful communicator sending us frequent photos and updates about their daily routines. In addition she took great care of our house even taking out the garbage cans without being asked and leaving clean sheets on our bed. We feel so grateful and she will be first on our list for pet sitting in the future.”

“Amir took wonderful care of our puppies. He communicated with us frequently and sent many pictures. One of our dogs has separation anxiety. When we got home our puppies were so happy and relaxed. We have already booked Amir for another stay. We are very thankful to have found Amir!”

“Sparkle is amazing in every way! I could fully relax while I was away because I knew my bunny would be so very loved!!! If I could leave more than five stars I would!!! 😊”

“Frank has been great. Even after our dig gave them an enthusiastic love bump in the nose! Mojie was safe and sound and extremely well cared for. House was also in excellent shape after our weekend away. Thank you!”

“Jamie is a great communicator and aimed to make our dogs as comfortable as possible while we were away. We have 2 elder dogs that can require a bit more attention than most and Jamie provided just that. He also took great care of our house, which was cleaner than we left it.”

“I would highly recommend Kiana to anyone looking for a pet sitter. Based on the photos she sent and how happy our dog and cat were when we got home, I know they had a great time with her. Her communication was excellent from the first contact through to us returning home. And our house looked exactly as we left it - it’s so good to come home to a clean house and happy pets. Thank you, Kiana!”

“Alex took great care of Parker on their overnight stay together. She arrived on time and sent cute pics the next day. Would recommend her. Parker was safe and well cared for. Thanks Alex!”

“Tiana was intuitive and respectful of our temperamental senior dog from the start. She went the extra mile and took care of household and Gemma's needs that were not even asked of her. Response time and communication were great too! Would definitely recommend!”

“Tayler did a great job of watching our pets for the week. She was patient with our chihuahua mix that has a hard time trusting new people. She sent photos and checked in every day. Our pets were happy when we got home and our house was just as we left it. Would definitely recommend Tayler for pet sitting!”

“Simply, Adeline was a perfect pet sitter in pur home. Our little dog is 16 years old and doesn't hear. He also was highly traumatized before we adopted him, so new people make him very agitated. deline was amazing with him. She was kind enough to agree to a pre vacation meetup before our holiday. She listened to our concerns and clearly treated him well. By the time we came home a week later, she was his bestie. Adeline sent us photos periodically with updates and seemed to really care about them, offering to sit for us again in the future. We're so grateful to Adeline for her patience and care; she made it possible for me to relax on vacation knowing they were in good hands. Thank you Adeline!”

“Erin came to our home and stayed with our furbabies while we went to Mexico. She was truly amazing with them, which put us at ease being away from home knowing they were in great care. She provided us with updates and photos throughout her stay. Cooper loved the walks she took him on. And Sasha loved her fun in the sun. We are so appreciative of Erin and the care she provided them. We would definitely book with her again. Thank you so much Erin!”

“Tyler is one of many Rover sitters, but there's only one Tyler. Kind. Professional. And excels in rescuing cats from behind closed closet doors (our fault before we left). We can't wait to book with him again, and you shouldn't wait either.”

“Lindsey was super communicative and shared great updates of our pups while we were gone. They also were very willing to do a pre-book meet and greet to make sure everyone got along. They left the house in clean order and took care of the weekly trash pick up as requested. We'll definitely be booking them again!”

“Miranda dog sat and house sat for me while I was out of town on business. We had a meet and greet and I could tell that my boys were comfortable with her right away. While I was gone, She sent me lots of pictures and videos of my boys and I could tell they were doing well. It relieved my mind to know that they had someone experienced and loving staying with them! I will definitely be booking with Miranda again in the future!”

“Mackenzie is great!! She got along with our dog great. We're out of town for a week, so we had to split time between two sitters. She sent me photos multiple times a day. She's awesome! Will be booking her again”

“Kathy has taken care of our dogs multiple times and she always goes above and beyond. We feel so comforted knowing they are so loved when we’re not there. Kathy is the best!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Happy Valley
Jadon was great with my reactive large dog and my health compromised small dog. He came at a time when the little one was in transition with back and bladder issues and he was kind, contientious, and communicative. I know they were in great hands while I was out of country and not able to manage. House was clean and well cared for as well. 100% will ask him again!

10/10! Amir (and Tiana) were amazing! The pictures and daily updates put our mind at ease while we were overseas for two weeks! They went out of their way to meet us two times beforehand to make sure everything was seamless and everyone was comfortable. We have 2 animals on medications and Amir did a great job making sure they got their meds as directed! Our animals were comfortable and the house was left in great condition (he even replaced our snacks!) Would 100% recommend to anyone!

Ryleigh was super. If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would. She is a good communicator, respectful of our home and it was shiny clean when we returned. Most important though is she too very good care of our kitty and it showed. Our kitty really liked her and warmed up to her very quickly and that is always a positive sign. We will definitely use Riley when we go out of town again. It's reassuring to know that someone of Ryleigh's character is taking care of our kitty.

Tyler did a great job taking care of my 2 cats. One of my cats had an unfortunate emergency on his last day and Tyler got him to the emergency vet and got in contact with my emergency contact and made sure everything was taken care of for my kitty. I would definitely recommend Tyler!

If you are in need of a dog walker or dog sitter, Jenny is fantastic!! Her communication is great and our dog absolutely adores her. She is great at accommodating our needs and our schedule. We felt good leaving the country knowing our dog was in such good hands. Plus, we returned to a spotless home! We will definitely be using her in the future.

We had several meet-and-greets before choosing a dog sitter for a family trip, and Jamie immediately stood out. She was genuinely engaged with both family’s dogs from the start, and my dog took to her right away. Throughout our trip, Jamie was an excellent communicator—sharing regular updates and photos and thoughtfully kept each owner informed. While we were away, our dog unfortunately got into some medication (he’s a sneaky one). Without hesitation or direction, Jamie took complete charge of the situation. She contacted Pet Poison Control, called our vet, multiple emergency veterinary hospitals, and ultimately transported him to an emergency vet. Throughout the entire experience, she was calm, proactive, and incredibly communicative, ensuring we were fully informed every step of the way. After his discharge, she continued to go above and beyond—handling late-night potty breaks, closely monitoring his recovery, and providing detailed updates on his condition. On top of her exceptional care for the dogs, Jamie also took wonderful care of our home. She cleaned up, watered plants, washed her bedding, and even re-seasoned our cast iron pans—an unexpected and much-appreciated touch. We recommend Jamie highly. Her communication, attentiveness, and genuine care for both pets and our home made it clear she cared for both as if they were her own.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. As the previous owner of a dog boarding facility I can say with certainty Liza is an all star. She was so sweet with our complicated dog, understood dog behavior well, had great communicated skills and sent us the cutest photos while we were gone. We felt very relaxed about our time away and will definitely use Liza again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Happy Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Happy Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Happy Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
