“Amir (and Tiana) were great! It was our first time leaving our puppy Nova for an extended period of time and first time using Rover but Amir sent plenty of pictures so we knew she was well taken care of. He checked in about giving her extra treats which we really appreciated. We'll definitely be booking them again!”

“Highly recommend Jayne! We had her come to our home to look after our two cats and dog. She handled all three with care and professionalism; providing lots of photos, updates, and one on one attention. I was a little nervous initially because we have a large American Akita that is very regimented, but Jayne had no problem following his typical walk/play schedule, and managing his handling. She was incredibly respectful of our home, making sure it was left in the same condition as when we left, and additionally watered our plants for us. She was very easy to work with, and her love for animals really shows! Will absolutely be using her as our go-to in the future.”

“Tiana is a cat whisperer I swear. She took such great care of my cats and home while we were away, I will definitely book her again if possible! One of my cats is incredibly anti-social, but she came out of hiding right away and consistently throughout Tiana’s visits. She sent me pictures and videos at every visit, which helped the separation tremendously. She handled my cats picky eating like a pro, and took care of any messes my cats made. She went above and beyond in all ways possible, and we came home to a clean nice smelling apartment and happy cats. Thank you so much Tiana!”

“Avalon was amazing again watching our Forrest! She is always kind, loving and very professional. Forrest just loves the attention and loves Avalon. The best dog sitter ever!”

“Frank was a fantastic pet and house sitter! Our dog was very happy and well taken care of,, and our house was neat and tidy too. I would highly recommend Frank!”

“Tayler was amazing! Both of my boys warmed right up to her. She sent video and photo updates every day, sometimes more than once a day. I appreciated knowing my dogs were comfortable around her and were well taken care of. I’d definitely book with Tayler again in the future and would definitely recommend her to others as well.”

“Simply, Adeline was a perfect pet sitter in pur home. Our little dog is 16 years old and doesn't hear. He also was highly traumatized before we adopted him, so new people make him very agitated. deline was amazing with him. She was kind enough to agree to a pre vacation meetup before our holiday. She listened to our concerns and clearly treated him well. By the time we came home a week later, she was his bestie. Adeline sent us photos periodically with updates and seemed to really care about them, offering to sit for us again in the future. We're so grateful to Adeline for her patience and care; she made it possible for me to relax on vacation knowing they were in good hands. Thank you Adeline!”

“We couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter! It was such a relief knowing our pets were happy, loved, and well cared for in their familiar environment. Mercedes kept us updated, was incredibly reliable, and left our home in great condition. We would absolutely trust her with our pets again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional pet care.”

“Katherine did another excellent job house sitting with our pup. This was during a time when in our neighborhood there were unfortunately still illegal fireworks being set off almost every night. My dog is extremely anxious around fireworks and Katherine helped to comfort her each time by trying different methods. She sent me an update on how things were going each day. She also kept the house looking as clean or cleaner than it was when we left. Thank you Katherine!”

About: Despite being the oldest of two, my parents' first baby was their basset hound, Ginger, adopted as a puppy. So, it should come as no surprise that I grew up understanding that our dogs are equal members of the family. I grew up in Massachusetts alongside our dogs Fiona (a rescue flat coat retriever) and Blu (a rescue basset hound). Fiona and Blu were like sisters to me: them and my sister and I all squished into the backseats of our family car for roadtrips, I came to understand my own anxiety seeing it in Fiona (who, as a rescue, has always been a bit nervous around people or loud noises), and I spent many summers in the backyard running around or lounging in the sun with Blu. My relationships with Fiona and Blu are what allow me to confidently tell you I adore dogs as companions and as unbelievably kind and smart creatures. In caring for your dog(s), I not only bring a deep awareness of how important they are to you, but also an excitement to build my own relationship with your pet and to enrich their lives! In caring for Fiona and Blu in their later years, I know a lot about senior dog care and how to administer medicine to dogs. I also love going on long (or quick!) dog walks and spending time playing with dogs. I also have extensive experience dog walking, sitting, and house sitting with a dog during my time working with dogs and cats while living in San Francisco this year. While caring for your dog, I always adjust my care to their individual specific needs! If you have a high energy dog who pulls, I try my best to sprint or run with them for a few blocks so they can get that energy out. If your dog has a pre-walk or post-walk ritual (treats, belly rubs, practicing commands), I've got it! If your dog needs breaks and water during the walk, I will rest with them and get them a drink until they're ready to go again. Following each sit or walk, I will provide you the pet parent with a detailed note about my time with your pup, telling little stories from our walk and some of their silly behavior, as well as taking photos of them walking and playing. :) I love dogs! I hope to meet yours soon and get to know them. <3 I have just moved cross country to SE Portland and am excited to start providing petcare full-time here! I have open availability to any time on weekdays. I love starting my day with a refreshing morning dog walk just as much as I enjoy an evening walk before your pet (and I) go to sleep. I especially would love to find some repeating weekly or daily walks, but am also beyond happy to provide care for one time sits as well! I accept house sits on a case-by-case basis (usually for less than a week or for high pay); since I've just moved to Portland, I want to settle into my new home a bit more before I am staying for extended periods of time at other houses. I am incredibly devoted to you and your pets' needs, whatever they may be! I will carefully follow any guidelines for watching your dog and how to be with and care for your dog in your home. I am reliable and both know how to problem solve on my own and know when to contact you and communicate a question or situation at hand for your input. Above all, the way I care for your pet follows the way you want me to care for them! Whether this is walking or playing with them until they tire out, or providing company during your work day by sitting with them and reading a book. Following each of my petcare visits, I provide a detailed note about my time with your pet. I will give a play-by-play of what happened from when I first arrive to when I say goodbye and give the little story of any silly or cute behavior your pet got up to during our time together!
“Selena was absolutely incredible with our furry family. She kept us updated with adorable photos throughout our trip and it was very obvious that our babies felt loved! She kept our house spotless and was very accommodating. They are looking forward to next time! ❤️”

“Wow, Miranda goes above and beyond. As the former owner of a doggy daycare I give Miranda an easy 5 star review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. She was communicative, easy going, caring but best of all she understood our dog! In the videos I could tell instantly my dog was smitten and comfortable which meant a lot while I was so far away. I returned home to a clean home and a happy dog .”

“Alex took great care of Parker on their overnight stay together. She arrived on time and sent cute pics the next day. Would recommend her. Parker was safe and well cared for. Thanks Alex!”

“Jamie was everything you hope for in a pet sitter. The dogs were relaxed and in great spirits when we got home and the house was spotless. Jamie sent pictures and communicated regularly letting us know how everything was going. We have to French bulldogs that both have daily meds and he kept everything organized and on schedule.”
“Alicia was an awesome house sitter! I'd recommend her for anyone. We were gone for a week and Alicia gave us every update we needed and went above and beyond our expectations. We had total piece of mind with Alicia watching our pup for the week. 5-stars, no doubt!”

“If I could give MacKenzie 100 stars I would!!! She was such a good decision and I'm just so happy to have found her! We don't get out a lot because our pets are our kids and MacKenzie has completely changed this for us! I CANNOT RECOMMEND HER ENOUGH! Right away my dogs took to her and my usually shy cat also loved her. We felt so safe and secure leaving our home and kids in her hands and MacKenzie was extremely flexible, kind, trustworthy, empathetic, and easy to talk to. We will absolutely be repeat customers!”

“Cedric was great! Communicative, understanding when our grumpy anxious senior dog barked a bit at their arrival, and took good care of our buddy and home. We’d love to book them again!”

“Sparkle, as always, tended to my kitties with care and left my apartment looking spotless. The kitty-os were happy to have her and i always feel safe knowing they are in her care. Thank you!”

Wonderful as always! this was a repeat petsitting gig because my cat was very well cared for the first time around :) Shelly is trustworthy, reliable, communicative, and always goes above and beyond. I'd absolutely recommend her, and will keep hiring her for my senior kitty's care!!

We had a great experience with Adeline who watched our two dogs and our house for about 4.5 days. She was communicative, engaged and enthusiastic about our dogs. We also have a senior dog who requires add'l meds and oversight with daily communication about his resting heart rate, and she followed through on our instructions everyday. Although we didn't ask her to do any kind of deep cleaning, she did tidy up and left our home in great shape. A 5 star experience!
Jax watched our two little dogs for a week and did an excellent job. We could tell our dogs were comfortable with Jax from the meet and greet and they seemed happy and relaxed when we got home. Jax sent daily photos and was responsible for their medications and supplements. Jax kept our house tidy and clean and even washed our sheets before he left, which wasn't requested but was appreciated. We wouldn't hesitate to book with Jax again!

Alexandra has been so amazing to work with. She understands the behavior of our high-strung little dog. I feel confident she is treating our pet with a ton of patience and compassion. She is also easy to communicate with and leaves our house in great condition. I would happily recommend her!

We had such a great experience with Leah and are planning to book her again soon. From the start, communication was clear, timely, and reassuring, which made it so much easier to relax while we were away. She was very attentive to our cat’s routine and preferences, and it was obvious that she genuinely cares about animals. We really appreciated the regular updates, photos, and little notes about how things were going, which went a long way in giving us peace of mind. She handled everything smoothly and made sure the boys were comfortable, well-fed, and getting playtime and affection. We came home to two happy, relaxed cats and a clean, well-cared-for space. Leah went above and beyond, and we’d highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and trustworthy sitter.

Matthew was great. He was very responsive and communicated well. We have a senior dog who had a few extra issues right before we left. Matthew handled that in stride while also taking our playful dog on lots of walks and to the dog park. We would absolutely hire him again.

If you are in need of a dog walker or dog sitter, Jenny is fantastic!! Her communication is great and our dog absolutely adores her. She is great at accommodating our needs and our schedule. We felt good leaving the country knowing our dog was in such good hands. Plus, we returned to a spotless home! We will definitely be using her in the future.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Clackamas walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Clackamas maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Clackamas choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Clackamas. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
