About: I have been surrounded by animals since childhood. I grew up in Colombia helping my grandmother on her farm, where I cared for dogs, cats, chickens, horses, pigs, and cows. That experience taught me respect, patience, and love for animals of all kinds. My strongest experience is with dogs. I have been caring for my own Pomeranian for over 11 years, and for the past 2 years I have also provided paid pet care for my friend’s dogs. I have experience with puppies as young as 5 months old, as well as senior dogs. One of the most meaningful experiences in my life was caring for my friend’s 13-year-old dog, Layla, during her final days while she was battling liver cancer. Being able to support her with love, comfort, and close attention reinforced my commitment to compassionate pet care. I currently work as a bookkeeper, mostly from home, which allows me to organize my schedule flexibly. This makes it easy for me to provide attentive pet sitting, boarding, and companionship during the day. I generally prefer pet sitting in the owner’s home, but I am also open to short stays in my home, such as weekends, depending on the situation. Longer stays can be discussed if needed. I believe pets are family, and I treat them with the same love and respect I give my own dog. I enjoy talking to dogs, keeping them company, and making sure they feel safe and emotionally comfortable, especially in new environments. I carefully follow all instructions provided by the owner, including feeding routines, medication, walking schedules, and special needs. Regarding food, I prefer to feed pets only the food provided by the owner. If authorized, I am happy to prepare or purchase food following the owner’s exact instructions. I pay close attention to each dog’s condition, preferences, and sensitivities. Dogs in my care are never left unattended. Owners are welcome to bring their dog’s favorite toys, bed, or blanket to help them feel at home. With owner approval, I also enjoy taking dogs to nearby parks so they can enjoy fresh air and gentle exercise.

BOOKING POLICIES: To provide the highest quality care and maintain a peaceful environment for every dog, I ask clients to keep the following in mind: • I board one guest dog at a time (in addition to my resident dog, Luigi). This allows me to provide individualized attention and maintain a calm home environment. • Some first-time boarding guests may be asked to complete a daycare visit before an overnight stay, particularly puppies, newly adopted dogs, or dogs with little previous boarding experience. This helps ensure a safe and successful experience for everyone. • Advance booking is appreciated, especially for recurring services, weekends, and holidays, as my schedule often fills quickly. • Same-day and next-day bookings may be accepted based on availability and may be subject to a short-notice fee. • Because I reserve time specifically for each client, I ask that schedule changes and cancellations be kept to a minimum whenever possible. • Visits within Santa Monica’s metered parking zone (approximately 23rd Street to Ocean Avenue) include a $2 parking surcharge per visit. I work approximately 15 hours per week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, which gives me the flexibility to provide consistent, individualized care throughout the rest of the week. My goal is never to rush from one booking to the next, but to give each dog the time, attention, enrichment, and companionship they deserve. Safety and trust are my highest priorities. I pay close attention to each dog’s body language, comfort level, and individual routine. I use positive reinforcement, maintain clear boundaries, and strive to create a calm, structured environment where dogs can feel secure, understood, and able to relax. Whether caring for your dog in my home or yours, I am happy to follow your existing feeding, walking, medication, crate, and training routines to provide consistency and help your dog feel at ease.

I've loved and cared for animals my whole life — hamsters, bunnies, dogs — and I've always been the go-to person for friends, family, and neighbors when they need someone trustworthy to watch their pets. My biggest teacher was my dog Carter, a Formosan I raised from 8 weeks old and had the privilege of loving for 11 wonderful years. She was very energetic, and living with her every day for over a decade taught me a lot about walking, training, and understanding midsize dogs with real intensity and drive. Carter passed recently, and caring for other dogs now feels like the most natural way to keep giving the love and attention she taught me how to give. Through her, I discovered a real knack for working with anxious, shy, and high-energy dogs. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all care — I take the time to get to know each dog's temperament, quirks, and needs, because just like people, every dog is different. Some want a calm, steady presence. Some want to run until they're happily exhausted. I meet them where they are.
