“Shirley is the best. Not only is she an amazing person overall, but she’s the best pet sitter I’ve ever had for my 4 kitty cats. I was shocked that my one cat, who is usually terrified of new people, let her pet him on the second day! She really has a way with animals. You can tell she loves and cares for them deeply. While I was gone I got daily updates and pictures most days. Shirley really went above and beyond to care for my cats. She went over twice a day and hung out with them, let them out on the patio (which is their favorite thing ever). She even helped take out our trash and brought our mail in, which she didn’t have to do. I’ll definitely be a returning customer!”

“Brent stayed at our house for the day and watched our little Chico. He kept us fully informed of Chico with pics and video throughout the day. I highly recommend Brent and would definitely use his services again.”

“Peter was the best! He took perfect care of my pup and went above and beyond. My pup felt safe and happy and he left my home in perfect condition. Would definitely use again.”

“Jackalyn was amazing!! This was my first time using Rover and I was a little nervous but she was very attentive and kept me posted throughout the weekend with update and pictures. I am definitely using her again!”

“We couldn’t be happier with the care Zach provided for our puppy. He just has this great way of connecting with our dog and meeting needs unique to an animal who is still learning the basics. Zach provided pictures, videos, and took his time getting to know our dog’s routine and quirks. I would highly recommend Zach and hope to become a repeat customer.”

About: I grew up with cats and dogs of my own and I started caring for neighbors pets at 12 years old. I love all animals and would be happy to help you out with yours! I currently work part time and have a pretty flexible schedule. I have a 13 year old daughter who has grown up around pets and is wonderful with animals. Let me know what you need and we can work something out. I will follow your instructions and treat your home with complete respect and kindness. Your pets will be safe and loved when they are in my care.
“Alexandra was absolutely amazing!!! Our dog tends to get seperation anxiety and she kept her at ease and happy the entire time we were gone. We received mutiple photos, videos and updates on our pup which kept us worry free. On top of that it was an overnight stay at our house and we came back to it exactly as we left it. 10 out of 10 would recommend and will only be using her as our future sitter 😊”

“Gabby was fantastic, her and her brother gave my guys so much attention I am not 100% sure they realized I was gone. They went above and beyond and looked over my plants and fish as well.”

“Raechel was great! This was my first time using the app and I was in a bit of a time crunch and this was also the first time I needed a house sitter for my animals. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats so the job was large and Raechel did not blink an eye to it! Her communication is fabulous as I was sent multiple pictures each day of the crew. Even my most reclusive cat seemed to love her new sitter which totally surprised me! Overall the dogs and cats seemed to love their new friend for the week and I felt completely confident in Raechel while I was gone.”

About: I grew up always having at least one pet. The first chore I was ever assigned was actually taking care of our cat and dog (at the time) and I did that for a while. Around middle school I started dog-sitting for my parents and I’ve been doing that for quite some time now. I’ve never met an animal (that isn’t super skittish) that doesn’t love or at the very least ‘tolerate’ me. My dogs will follow me around the house or sometimes paw/bark at my door just to see me. Even when it comes to skittish animals (especially cats) they usually warm up to me very quickly. My grandma’s stray rescue cat is petrified of everyone but my grandma. After a week of staying over at my grandma’s she would walk up to me on her own and even sit in my lap. I’m free almost 24/7 except when I’m asleep. I’m currently searching for a job hence the very flexible schedule. I don’t mind late night visits or early morning, my sleep schedule is just as flexible if not more. I respect animals the same way you would people, although we don’t have verbal communication it’s very easy to tell what an animal is feeling based on their body language. I can be stern and assertive without being overly aggressive or anything of that sort. Additionally, I am very respectful of others spaces and homes. I believe heavily in treat others how you want to be treated, so I behave as such and I think that reflects in my pet-care and work ethic

“Autumn is so punctual, caring, communicates really well and took such good care of my dogs! She sent me pictures and videos often and kept me updated and gave them so much love and care. She is really awesome!”

“Gina was extremely attentive to ZuZu and kept great communication with us while we were on vacation. She went above and beyond to make sure our pup was cared for even during a health scare. Would recommend to anyone looking to have trustworthy care for their pet.”

“Caitlin is amazing! She responds super fast, and I hired her for a couple of nights to stay with my nervous kitty. She was able to bond with him which is tough to do, and sent me pictures and updates while I was away. I highly recommend Caitlin for house/pet sitting!”

“Sara took amazing care of Prim. My dog had a vacation while I was away and it was very clear that she enjoyed herself. My dog is 14years old so she can't be easy at times but Sara had patience with her and took great care of her. Thank you.”

“Another stress free vacation, because we knew Oreo was in the best hands with Maria! She was amazing communicating with us and sharing photo & video updates. Oreo is spoiled rotten when she’s there.💕 I think he makes her his personal masseuse 🤣, but she also plays his toys with him and did enriching activities to keep our boy’s mind engaged. We totally trust Maria and highly recommend her!”

About: While I may not have years of experience like some, my love for animals does not fall short. I have taken care of dogs, big and small. Some with dietary restrictions and rigid feeding routines and others with a more lax regimen. I have house sat/pet sat and stayed in the owner’s home on multiple occasions. I’ve taken care of four dogs of various sizes at once, done drop-ins to feed/change water and let the puppers out for friends and family members, and I’ve also stopped by to do something as simple as a quick walk. Whatever you need, I can do it! I can assure you that I will treat your pet as my own. I currently work full time at a law firm in downtown but I live in Sanford. I have a reliable car and I don’t mind driving. I can pet sit/house sit on weekdays but I have work so it would be morning care and evening/night. I can also take a midday break if needed. I am off on the weekends so I will be able to be there full time. Depending on the owner, I have put pets into their crates when leaving the house or at night for sleeping but I have also let them roam freely, if the owner allows it.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Lake Mary is $45

Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about Brianna. I had absolute ease-of-mind knowing that my cat was in great hands for the 3 days I was away. She’s extremely friendly and has a wonderful energy, and my cat could definitely pick up on that because she snuggled up to her immediately. Came back to a clean house and a healthy cat. No doubt I’ll be contacting Brianna in the future!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lake Mary walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lake Mary maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lake Mary choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
