This was my first time using Rover.com. I had picked up my German shepherd, Evie, from a shelter in North Carolina last November. Based on her recorded condition when brought in as a stray 5 weeks before she had been through a rough period. She has fully recovered now and is in good health. My wife and I wanted to find someone to board her with where she would be happy when we're away. We identified a few possibilities at the Rover website and following a positive meet and greet with Nadjeska last week, had Evie spend the day with her yesterday. It went very well. Nadjeska sent us several texts with photos during the day updating us on Evie's stay. We were looking for a home where Evie could spend time with and play with other dogs and Evie made a new friend, Sparkles, Najeska's little dog. Nadjeska has a fenced yard which provides a safe place for them to run around in the fresh air. Evie seemed to enjoy the day, Nadjeska obviously loves dogs, and we will be repeat clients in the near future.

About: Hello! My name is Noelle and I am an experienced sitter. I have had many animal companions my whole life including reactive dogs, small/medium/large dogs. I currently have a 100lbs Dogo Argentino and can’t wait to meet your furry friend! I’m currently getting my masters online so I am available during all hours of the day to look after your companion! Potty breaks are easy and frequent. I have a huge love for animals and seek to give them a comfortable, happy experience while you’re occupied. Truc watched our Russell terrier Ozzie for the day when we were in the area on vacation. Ozzie left happy and tired, and had a great time with her lab Calvin. Truc was very responsive and easy to communicate with, took special care to ensure Ozzie adjusted well, and even took him on a special adventure in town. Would highly recommend. Thank you Truc!

This was my German shepherd, Evie's, first daycare with Laura. Evie was a bit anxious at first but Laura got her to a calm state quickly and Evie enjoyed playing with her pug, Winston. Laura kept me updated and sent several pictures. Good experience overall and will be back

Mary Jo watched my dog and my sister’s (both anxious seniors) over the holiday weekend for daycare. We gave her weird hours and she accommodated us regardless, despite having little ones of her own. Drop off and pick up process was quick. It was late when we picked up so when a steel bowl was left behind she mailed it back, which we appreciated a lot. We trust her experience with dogs and are so happy the fur babies were safe and sound while we were away!

Kristen was great with our 3 month old puppy. She was flexible, sent us plenty of pictures, and responded quickly. It was a serene getaway for him and he looked very comfortable in her home. She took him on walks and he walked really well with her. On the second day drop off Kameron was wagging his tail as we walked inside and went straight for a prized green toy he loved. The pictures she sent were beautiful and she was very easy to talk to. I highly recommend her would absolutely use her again.

About: With over 18 years of experience caring for dogs, cats, and even guinea pigs, animals have always been the center of my life. I am a certified dog trainer through ABC (Animal Behavior College), where I completed coursework and hands-on mentorship training. My first Jack Russell, full of energy and determination, inspired me to become a trainer and deepened my passion for understanding animal behavior. Today, I share my home with a younger, playful pack, including another Jack Russell, and I’ve learned the importance of balancing order, safety, and discipline with letting dogs simply enjoy being dogs. I believe younger dogs benefit from observation, gentle guidance, and time to grow before intense training, so my focus is always on safe, positive, and enriching experiences. I use equipment designed for safety — such as secure belt leashes — to make sure dogs are comfortable and protected on walks. Whether it’s puppies, seniors, or high-maintenance small breeds, I have the hands-on experience to give each pet the right level of care and attention. My senior dog, who recently passed after nearly 17 years by my side, required 24/7 care during her final year. That experience taught me patience, vigilance, and the deep responsibility of caring for animals at every stage of life. Our home is designed with pets in mind — safe, welcoming, and filled with love. With a friendly resident pack, dogs here need to enjoy the company of other dogs to feel at home. Small dogs are my specialty, but I welcome pups of all kinds and treat every animal as if they were my own. The only challenge you might face? Your dog may not want to go home. My partner and I both work from home, so we’re with our dogs throughout the day. We balance our time between working indoors and enjoying the outdoors when the weather is nice, with walks and dog park visits built into our mornings and evenings. We also enjoy picnics, hikes, and other activities that include our pets, since they’re truly part of our everyday life. None of our animals are ever crated — they’re free to be with us and part of our routine at all times. We have three secure, fenced yard areas designed for different activities. One area is set aside for bathroom breaks, where pets can go on their own. The other two yards are used for supervised playtime. Inside, our dogs have access to two levels of the home. The lower level is the cat zone, and the cats also enjoy access to one of the fenced yards. All pets have free range within their spaces and spend the day with me or my partner, so they are always supervised and cared for. We don’t crate any of our own pets — they are all very friendly and used to being around both cats and dogs. I’m a very hands-on, “helicopter” type fur mom — safety, love, and care are always my top priorities. I make sure pets are mentally stimulated, and I’m always checking for ticks or any health concerns. I shared my life with two beloved dogs for nearly 17 and 15 years, and losing them a few years ago was heartbreaking. They traveled everywhere with me and showed me the depth of the bond we share with animals. Caring for pets is my greatest passion, and I feel honored every day to be in their company. I will do whatever is required to keep your animals happy and cared for as if they were my own. I will always follow your instructions closely — from feeding to routines — and will never do anything that isn’t approved by you. Your pets’ safety, comfort, and happiness come first.

About: I've had pets since a young age from lizards, cats, dogs, hamsters, fish, turtles, guinea pigs and birds. I have a small dog of my own so I know I can give your pets lots the love and attention too whether they have fur, scales, or feathers! I work from home so all pets get get a lot of attention during the day. For dogs staying in my home, they get 3 walks a day in the morning, during my lunch break, and in the evening. I work from home so all pets get a lot of attention during the day. I love to spend my time after work going on walks and would love a buddy(s) to come with me! I am available from dog walking or in home visits after 5:15pm during the week and anytime on weekends. I think the best way to care for a pet is do exactly what they're comfortable with. I intend to have very open communication with pet parents to understand the likes, dislikes and behaviors of their fur-babies to make sure that they feel safe and comfortable. I do have a dog of my own so I also want to make sure all your pets get along with my Jax, who loves other animals.

About: I've grown up around animals my whole life, including huskies, and I spent most of my life horseback riding. I currently have a young husky named Mako, so I have daily experience with exercise, training, grooming, and keeping dogs on a consistent routine. Mako and I are home from college, so we’ve been spending lots of time outside! We regularly go hiking and swimming, and at home he has access to several acres of land where he can safely explore on a supervised 100-foot lead, well away from the road. I do most of Mako's grooming myself, including bathing and brushing to prevent matting, and I'm happy to do the same for dogs in my care if requested. I have experience with reactive and aggressive dogs and can safely separate dogs if needed without making them feel left out. Mako is very friendly and loves meeting new dogs, but I pay close attention to make sure he’s not overwhelming anyone with his puppy energy. I keep a consistent schedule and will treat your dog like one of my own. There's also a vet right around the corner in case of an emergency, giving you extra peace of mind while your pet is in my care. Im back home from college right now and can give 24/7 care. I am a musician but I don't have the sleep schedule of one! Mako and I wake up at 9am and sleep by 12 at the latest. Feeding times are consistent and we spend more of the day outdoors than in. I love to write and practice outside so I will hangout on the porch or in the yard even if I'm home for the day. Mako lets me know if he needs a AC break, but he also has his favorite shady trees and kitty pool to hangout at. At my mom's farm house we have many acres of yard off of a low traffic street. It is not fenced in so I have a 100ft lead tied in the center that I clip Mako to. My mom left a patch of the yard un-mowed so the wildflowers would grow, and Mako loves to explore in the tall grass. I tick check him regularly but haven't found anything yet. I always keep him in my line of sight when I let him out on the lead. The house has lots of space and it's easy to seperate dogs if needed. I also have a large crate that Mako used to use. I uphold some basic training manners such as no table scraps, calmly walking out the front door next to or behind me, no chewing everything, etc. Im happy to take requests if there's training manners you don't want your dog to get rusty on while away. Im not certified but I know how to perform CPR and first aid on dogs. There is a vet clinic right around the corner and I can get them there within minutes incase of emergency.

This was the first daycare with Holly and Sarah for my german shepherd, Evie, and it went very well. They got her over her initial separation anxiety quickly and then took her on miles of local trails which she enjoyed very much. It is clear they both love dogs and are willing to do what's needed to keep them safe and happy. Will have Evie back soon.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Killingworth commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 685 sitters in Killingworth, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
