“Madelyn was great! We have an older dog who needed meds during Madelyn’s stay. She had no issues administering them to him and upon our return home, she left detailed notes and kept us informed that he was okay while we were away. Our dog has some anxiety but felt immediately comfortable upon meeting Madelyn. We will definitely use her again! Thank you so much for taking great care of Austin!”

“Alyson was lovely!! She really took care of my baby with a bunch of walks and snuggles. She constantly sent photos and I felt like Lincoln (our pup) was in the best of hands!! Thank you so much!! Highly recommend!!”

“Julie and Peter were fabulous and our girls loved spending the weekend with them. We would love to book again for our pup’s needs in the future! Mahalo Julie and Peter!”

“We were so lucky that Keala was able to watch our dog, especially so last-minute. We needed to leave town for a funeral over a holiday long weekend. Keala made herself immediately available to meet. She is extremely professional, very reliable and responsible - she took excellent care of our dog and our home while we were away. Our family highly recommends her and will certainly contact her again in the future.”

“Ashley was great with our 4 month and 8 year old Goldendoodles while house sitting for us and even did so on short notice. Managing a puppy is never easy and she did a wonderful job. We came home to a clean house and felt the house was safe with Ashley staying in it. She kept us up to date with great photos while we were away too. Highly recommend Ashley for any dog walking or other sitting services !”

“Alyssa responded quickly and sent pictures of our two dogs everyday while we were gone, it was a 3 day trip. She also gave our Great Dane his medicated eye drops which isn’t always an easy task lol. I feel like they were taken care of well, would book again.”

“Michelle handled my two large dogs (one with severe anxiety) like a champ! She is so loving and patient with them and excellent with communication. We will definitely be working with her again.”

About: I have always had a dog present since I was born. With that I have always wanted to build a strong connection with them. This includes belly rubs, giving treats, going for walks/venturing, or playing with doggy toys. I am currently working a part-time job and typically available at the beginning of the week. I do sometimes pick up shifts but I am pretty flexible with my time. During my days off I will have a plethora of time for your pets to keep company for a walk or being social. I often times like to match a pets energy. If they need some play time, I will be more than happy to give them needed attention. If they would like to have a more chill day, we can go for a nice calm walk or just relax outside on the grass.
About: My wife Allie and I grew up taking care of dogs our whole lives, and we are the proud parents of 2 happy cats, Leo and Victor. I have a flexible work schedule and my wife and I can work as a team to make sure your pet is well taken care of. I work from home and the hours are very flexible. Currently I only commute to my office on Thursdays, but I am leaving the day open on my calendar in case you are time flexible and need help on a Thursday morning or evening outside of regular working hours. I am currently offering drop in and walking visits. I am very detail oriented, reliable, and know the importance of being diligent with following instructions for proper care.
About: I’ve grown up with dogs and other pets my entire life and currently have a husky of my own, so I’m very comfortable caring for dogs with lots of energy, strong personalities, and specific routines. Having a husky has given me plenty of experience with daily exercise, long walks, basic training, grooming, and keeping an energetic dog happy and stimulated. I’ve also cared for pets for friends and family over the years, including both younger, high-energy dogs and older dogs who need a little more patience and attention. I’m comfortable following specific feeding schedules, administering basic medications, and adapting to each pet’s normal routine. As a former EMT and current PA student, I’m attentive to changes in behavior or health and comfortable staying calm if something unexpected happens. Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and will treat your pet with the same care and attention I give my own. I’ll be on Oʻahu from October 18th through November 14th for one of my medical school clinical rotations in Kailua. During that time, I’ll have a fairly consistent clinical schedule, so pet care fits naturally into my mornings and evenings. I’ll be available for feeding, walks, playtime, and plenty of attention before and after my rotation each day, as well as more flexibility on my days off. Since I’ll be staying locally for the entire month, I’m also happy to work with your pet’s usual routine as much as possible. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet and home in someone else’s care. I always follow the owner’s instructions closely and try to keep each pet’s normal routine as consistent as possible, including feeding, walks, medications, exercise, and any house rules. I’m very mindful about keeping doors, gates, and yards secure, especially with pets that like to explore or make a run for it. I’ll also keep your home clean and tidy, bring in packages or mail, and keep you updated with photos and messages so you know how things are going. I’m happy to follow any specific instructions you have for your pet or home.

About: Aloha, I’m Kawehi! I’m new to Rover, but not new to caring for animals. I’ve had 7 cats & 2 dogs of my own through the course of my life, and I’ve fostered several kitten litters from 2021-2022. I’ve had to put fostering on hold now that I work full-time, but I’m excited and looking forward to caring for your fur babies! ☺️ I’m generally available after 3pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. Of course, this is if I do not already have plans. I will do my best updating my calendar to reflect availability accurately. You are welcome to message me anytime! I love getting to know new animals and all their little quirks. As a long-time cat owner, and behavioral technician, I'm very attentive to pets' body language and what they're trying to signal. Autonomy, regardless of species, is very important to me. 🩷
“Ky was great! She sent me pictures almost every day and let me know if anything out of the blue happened! Im an overprotective parent and my dog is super laid back expect for outside were he has issues with other dogs and people. She was willing to do a walk through with me so I could show her how to deal with my extra pully dog. My puppy was very happy with his new friend and i would recommend using ky for your animal needs! She stays on schedule and makes sure your house is clean when she leaves it!”

“Michaela was great, we had a meet and greet, and everything went smoothly. She stayed at my apartment, and she was attentive to Zoe, and always made sure she was fed and taking her medicines. She kept in contact with me to let me know how Zoe was doing. Would definitely rebook”

About: I’ve been helping take care of friends’ and neighbors’ dogs for years. For the past 6 years, I have also had a labradoodle of my own. Taking care of him has provided me with a lot of learning opportunities. As a result, I am great with puppies, training, administering medicine, and anything else your dog might need! I have a part time job, but I only work three hours a day from 5 am-8 am, and not at all on weekends. Other than that, I am completely free. In September I will begin University classes but they are interspersed throughout the day, leaving me fully able to walk, feed, and play with your dog multiple times a day, all throughout the day! I have a fenced in yard and a six year old labradoodle who loves having friends! My family is also around, providing additional playmates & extra love!

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kāne‘ohe
Kelly took great care of Monty and made sure our home was OK during a crazy weather event on Oahu. She was also great to coordinate and communicate with and was able to help care for our home and pupper when we needed to be away due to a last minute stay in Waikiki. I would highly recommend her!

Ashley was absolutely perfect at taking care of my cat Strawberry and my Pomeranian Rocky. She stayed in my apartment and took good care of them. I chose Ashley because she has a calm, cool & collected demeanor and she works from home so she was with my pets all day & night. She played with strawberry and took Rocky for lots of walks & outings. I didn’t worry about a thing the entire week I was away. I highly recommend her!

John was absolutely incredible with our 3 dogs (that range in age and size - 12 yr old Golden, 10 yr old Golden, 3 yr old mini-poodle)! He stayed the night while we were traveling allowing the pups to feel comfortable in their own home. He even sent pictures to us throughout the day. The pups had a blast!! He is a licensed veterinarian and an epidemiologist, which made us feel extra comfortable. He also agreed to an initial meeting with the pups before the booking. We will absolutely be using John again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kāne‘ohe walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kāne‘ohe maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kāne‘ohe choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kāne‘ohe. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
